I don't hate Rowdy hall, but I honestly don't love it either. I only really go here if I'm with friends and I want to get a quick sit down meal without too much thought. I went here several times last summer and loved it, but they have a new chef whom burns everything. My pork chop came out so dry it was inedible. I watched 2 other tables send back full meals as well. The manager was kind of stand off-ish about it too. We just left at that point. A nice little bar and restaurant right in town tucked behind London Jewelers on Main Street. Decent selection of beer on tap and the food is very good and reasonably priced for out here. The last time I went there were a bunch of small kids (it was lunch) but the dinner crowd tends to be better. Rowdy Hall is one of the best of its genre, anywhere. If you want to grab a burger and a cold draft beer at the bar, as I did this week, the service is friendly, efficient, and caring; the beer is nice and cold; and the burger is -- as the bartender announced as he served it -- "healthy." If you're looking for some decent burgers and beers Rowdy Hall is a nice spot. It doesn't get "rowdy" but it sure does get crowded during the summer. They get a lot of traffic being in downtown EH. It seemed like they had a pretty big variety of beers, but I was only here for lunch so this a review about the food. Very average is all I can say. I got the burger and my dad got the fish and chips. I've had better,especially in the Hamptons. The staff, nonetheless, was very helpful and extremely friendly. Very dissapointed!!! We used to come at this place once in a while because here were finding the best burgers around hamptons. Just ordered yesterday a burger medium rare but guess what it was too rare and all my plate was full of blood cuz the meat was not cooked enough and also my bun was juicy, the french fries were burnt( I ask politely the lady-bartender for another side of ff and she brought same to well done). She gave us paper napkins like we are having lunch in a fast food. We wait for her 10 minutes to give us menus (didnt paid attention to us and always should wave for her to see us that we need something). At the end I waved again to give us the check and she was busy putting lipstick in the front of us and other customer. Very unprofessional and very bad attitude like we are bothering her and also very very slow and she wasnt busy at all. Unfortunately we will never come back in this place!!! read more

This is my Yelp first review of Rowdy Hall, even though I have been in there many times in the past. They have renovated the place and it looks great. Good for families and relaxed atmosphere. Right in town but set back from the street which gives it a good, private feel. Menu is extensive and usually good. However, my experience at the last meal was not great. Although it was not all that crowded, food was delayed and staff seemed a bit harried. Manager was nice enough to comp us a glass of wine for the inconvenience. I would not recommend the clam strips appetizer which was inedible. In an area where great clam strips are ample, these were rubbery, poorly flavored and greasy. Chicken wings and mussels were very good. Lobster roll was small but solid. Burgers are good but not outstanding (they used to be in the past here). Fish and chips are what they are known for and are very good as is the fish burger. Steamed artichoke is recommended. Bar is small but really nice and and has a local feel which is friendly and welcoming. In summary, food on balance is disappointing but and not special. The atmosphere, if you want casual but nice, is very good. Maybe I just caught it on a bad night as I remember it being much better in the past. read more

Terrible experience! Went there last week with my boyfriend. When we got there the server took her time to come over and greet us. When we asked her if she could put in the clams casino first while we decided what we wanted to eat, it turned out they had ran out so we ordered the mussels instead. She came back a few moments later and we put in our entrees. About 25 mins had gone by and we still hadn't gotten our mussels, and instead of going to check on our food we watched as she stuffed her face behind the waiter station. When another server came out with our entrees we we began to get annoyed. We sent the food back as we had told the other server that we didn't even receive our app yet. When she informed our server about this she came over and said "yeah sorry i forgot to put in your mussels" we immediately asked to speak to a manager. As we watched the manager come out he first went over to the computer to print out checks and went back into the kitchen, when he finally came over we were getting our things to walk out. It was completely unacceptable. There were maybe 5 tables in the whole restaurant and so there is no excuse as to why she "forgot" to put our order in and that fact that the manager working that night took his time when he was told that a customer had a complaint. The worst part is, is that we are locals of east hampton. This was by far the worst service we have ever recieved. I do not recommend this place, and i will never step foot there again! read more

This place was recommended by a Hampton resident that said the burgers here are really good, but they neglected to tell us about the POOR service. We came in during the downpour today, so the place was pretty empty. The waitress came over and asked us if we wanted anything to drink, we asked what was on tap and then ordered some beers. I asked if there were any specials and she said, "No!" We had already looked at the menu so we knew what we wanted and ordered. I proceeded to head to the bathroom and there on the wall was a big poster that was advertising their SPECIAL OKTOBERFEST beer menu which today was going to be the last day of this special. So much for us being made aware of the "Specials", you know the "Specials" I asked about when she asked if we wanted anything to drink. Mind you there were a few Oktoberfest Beer Specials on this poster you could chose from, one was where you were given three different beers to try, another was buy a beer in their mug and get refills for less money and keep the mug. Anyway, we order our food and a "runner" brings it out and the waitress DID NOT acknowledge us once she took our order until she assumed we were done with our meal and was ready to give us our check. Not once did she come over to ask us how the food was, nor if we needed anything, ketchup, pepper, drink refills, NOTHING. Coincidently, two people sitting next to us were in the midst of paying their bill when we sat down and they were discussing what to leave for a tip and one of them said to the other, "What should I leave as a tip, I did not appreciate the service at all?" and the other one said, "I don't care, whatever you want to leave". So the guy left NOTHING. I didn't realize we too were going to be blessed with the same service. Someone ought to have a talk with this waitress because we will NEVER dine in the Rowdy Hall again and we certainly don't intend to recommend to anyone to go there. read more

We enjoyed an excellent late lunch and drinks on a rainy September Saturday. The meals were super tasty! The croque monsieur and madame were top notch! Fish and chips - go for it. Lobster Roll - stick to The Lobster Bar or Clam Bar a few miles down in Amagansett. Our advice to the chef (we are from The South) the fried pickles need to be sliced thinner - like burger style. We stopped in for lunch and found they open right at 12:00 .It's a very nice place with very good service. As for the food, we started with a candied bacon that came with a cheese dip, it was yummy and very addictive. Then we had the New England clam chowder, it was a large bowl full and had lots of flavor. My husband then had the falafel and I had the escargot. We loved both. Rowdy Hall is ok. It has always been a good spot but the quality has gone down lately. Used to be a good place for a burger but last time we went the meat was tough and tasted like a lower quality meat than they had previously been using. The french fries looked like they were from the end of the batch and we sent them back. We got a plate in return with a scant helping of fries on it - when a restaurant skimps on french fries there is something up. Vegetarian chili is very good, filling, comes with corn bread and is always a good bet. Service is very good with friendly wait staff. read more

However the duck special with collard greens sounded very interesting. Lo and behold, the duck special was absolutely the best I have had in all my years - cooked to perfection! And I don't know who was in the back making the collard greens in the Hamptons but super duper shout out for them being so tasty. Went there with friends because they wanted wings. According to my husband, they were adequate. Waitress was not friendly. Vegetable chili is on the menu as a side for $7. I asked the waitress if it was vegetarian. She said "yes" and that it came with sour cream and a side of corn bread. I thought that was quite generous given the $7 price. The chili came out in a fairly large portion and was very good. When I got the bill, the chili was $16. She up sold me without my knowledge which is a real pet peeve of mine. I keep going back to Rowdy Hall out of habit. It has a pretty large following and I used to love it. But I think this visit may be my last. It suddenly hit me that I don't like it nearly as much as I used to. Actually, the past few visits, I left Rowdy Hall feeling completely frustrated. The service has become lousy. The hostess (if you can call her a "hostess") is usually rude, nearly brain dead, and has a scowl on her face. She may be the owner, I don't know or care. There's always an odor of cleanser when you walk in the door, which is unappetizing. The food is fine, and the burger is good. But it's not out-of-this-world good, and doesn't justify the other nonsense. I would never bring family here, because you just can't be certain that the staff will be polite or that the service or food will be acceptable. Who needs the aggravation?
