We went here for dinner a few night ago. The vibe is amazing, so Hamptons and chic. Almost felt as if we escaped the US, European elegance. The service is extremely kind and accommodating. We had a reservation for 8 inside, and they quickly moved us outside with no issue. Definitely recommend sitting outside. We ordered the spaghetti, Cacio e Pepe, chicken, burrata and peaches, market salad, and lobster and bean salad. All to share. The spaghetti and chicken were both amazing, would definitely recommend. The Cacio e Pepe ravioli and Market and lobster salads were all good but not to die for. I would skip on the burrata and peaches as the peaches were hard and the dish was semi flavorless. The whole experience is definitely more about the vibe than the small portion sizes of food. I would come again for a drink and apps which is the reason I gave 4 stars.

    Spaghetti Nerano.

Our second time to this lovely new restaurant at The Maidstone. Highly recommend. The service is warm and accommodating. Our dinner was delicious both times. This evening we ordered the grilled octopus, grilled peaches with burrata and pistachio and then had the Spaghetti Nerano and the Nero Linguine. We also had the charred zucchini. Garden seating is lovely as is the inside dining room. Bravo

I came here for dinner with my husband last Sunday over MLK weekend. We decided to stop in because we saw an ad in the Independent for the Sunday prix fixe and $1 oysters after 4pm. Our usual go-to for dollar oysters on Sundays is the Bell & Anchor in Sag Harbor, but we opted to give the Maidstone a try. When we were seated for our 6:45pm reservation, I asked the waiter about their dollar oyster special and was told that the offer was only from 3-6pm and only at the bar. I mentioned the ad I saw in the paper but he told us that information was wrong. We were a little disappointed in the false advertising but ordered a dozen oysters anyway since we were looking forward to it. The oysters were excellent (even if they were triple the price we were expecting!) and we really enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer we shared. My husband also said his martini was made perfectly, which is a huge compliment coming from him! All in all, we enjoyed our dinner at the Maidstone but the bait and switch of the newspaper ad left a bad taste in our mouths. Our house is in East Hampton so I'm sure we'll be back at some point, but we'll make sure to get there before 6pm next time!

We called the restaurant to either move our reservation to another day or cancel it, and were told that only the manager could assist us. However, we were told the manager was unavailable because he was busy speaking with regulars at a table. I asked if we could simply be placed on hold until he was available so we could find a solution. We were told no. Instead, the employee said they would "leave a note" and that someone would call us back if they were able to help. Meanwhile, we were told that if the reservation was canceled, we would be charged a $135 cancellation fee -- despite the fact that we were actively trying to work with the restaurant to either reschedule or resolve the situation. The experience became even more unacceptable when the employee eventually hung up on us and then stopped answering our calls. The restaurant only answered after American Express contacted them on our behalf. To be clear, I have no issue with a restaurant having a cancellation policy. What I have an issue with is the way this situation was handled: being told the manager was "too busy" to speak with us, being refused the simple courtesy of being placed on hold, having our calls screened, and ultimately being hung up on. That is an embarrassing level of customer service for an establishment of this caliber. I genuinely hope someone in management -- above the person working the restaurant that evening -- takes this seriously and addresses this behavior. A cancellation policy is one thing; treating a customer with this level of disrespect is another.

It was an oily and cheesy grotesque sight- but more about this absolute shocker in a moment. The way I understood the story was that The Palm, was bought by Landry's some time ago and is now an uneven experience depending on which of their restaurants you visit, so when I found myself out in Easthampton it didn't occur to me that this version of The Palm, the restaurant inside The Huntting Inn could be shaky. But boy oh boy was I wrong. The Fox News on the TV - sitting there as if to say " Don't Eat Here" should have been enough. The lazy orange slice instead of a nicely pared peel in the Negroni should have been enough. The way too long omittance of silverware and napkins on our table should have been enough for us to have hightailed it outta there- but hey it's The Palm, they still can play the hits, we thought to ourselves. So we ordered. A shrimp cocktail for me, a caprese for the table, and a caesar to split for my hosts. The caprese was waaaay too balsamic'd, a mess of drizzle. My shrimp was fine, even these bozos couldn't mess that up- although the cocktail sauce was lacking quality. Something was amiss. The request for bread was made again, and our servers explained it was being worked on, and they hustled. Let that sink in. The bread- not the normal excellent bread you got at The Palm- onion roll, raisin roll, pretzel roll, breadsticks- but 4 rectangular pieces of focaccia arrived, along with The Lake Titicaca of Olive Oil and Parmigiana . "What's that?", I asked. " Olive oil and Parmigiana " our waiter replied. I sat stunned. Speechless. The 140.00 porterhouse (a bargain l-I know) came next - cooked unevenly, we were as close as you could be to sending it back- along with a cold, old, awful baked potato, that should have gotten the entire kitchen fired for letting it get to a customer. Also, at this version of the legendary Palm, a baked potato with "all the fixins" means they give you 4 terrines with too cold butter, sour cream, cheese, onions, as if you were at a Sizzler salad bar. The broccoli rabe lackluster. I don't fault our servers- they are good kids working hard that simply don't know any better- but it is an absolute disgrace what has happened to the storied and beloved Palm. This could very well be the shittiest restaurant in The Hamptons.
