The office staff is unprofessional and incompetent. Spent over $1500 on glasses, sunglasses, and contacts last year. Call them yesterday to get a copy of my contact prescription, and despite getting their automated emails to purchase additional contacts from them, they have no record of a contact exam or prescription for me. They then say unless I have a "duplicate account"? They don't know their head from their butthole...Shelby, Jennifer, Shea and that goofy, Nicolas! STAY AWAY from Rowe!!! read more

I saw Dr. Maddox and she was super kind and very easy to talk to. Came in for irritated eye issue and got an appt very quickly. All the paperwork as a new patient was super easy and the front desk woman who checked me in was great. Also the tech, Kimberly, was very kind, clear, and thorough as well. I simply paid for the best quality lenses that money can buy. I received what another optometrist called "the cheapest lenses they make nowadays". I had been going here for years and was extremely disappointed, over the last year I have heard the same from my brother in law and another friend. Apparently they just give u the cheap stuff no matter what you pay for. Never again, the lenses had so many scratches within 6 months they were basically unwearable. Now I'll be out atleast another 600 dollars this year. I've worn good glasses for 6 or 8 years with no issues, not to mention when I was even younger and more active, just a total bummer. I have been coming here for years and always loved the staff and how easy it was to get an appointment. However today I was held up by traffic and called to advise I would be late. The lady on the phone said we have a 15 minute grace period, after that we have to reschedule your appointment. This is the first I'm hearing of this in all the reminders they sent it never mentioned this. Plus the traffic was not my fault as the bridge I take was hung up and ate the extra time I had allotted to get there early. I walked in two minutes outside their grace period and was told they would have to reschedule me as they are full today. I understand being full with appointments, but I have been early or on time every time previously and usually have to wait on them! I am upset that two minutes makes such an impact that I have to reschedule. I will take my business elsewhere since my loyalty seems to mean so little to you. If my lateness was constant I would understand but this is ridiculous over two minutes. I refuse to believe this would have made such a difference. I have spoken my peace and will take my business to another local optometrist who values their customers. As a local business I just can't believe they don't regard their customers who are not so far outside their lateness policy that they can't try to accommodate them. read more

I live in Los Angeles and came across this place while currently on an east coast tour. We had played Atlanta the night before an I left my contacts in the green room after the show. By the time I realized this, a pedialyte and case of water later, we had already passed Jacksonville heading down to our next show. We stopped in St. Augustine for lunch and I called around to a few different optometrist offices to see who can fill my prescription and most said it would be a couple days, which obviously I did not have. Finally, I called Rowe Eyecare and was greeted by Kelsey who was super rad. Told her my deal and needed something to get me by to finish off the next two weeks on the road. I was able to email and forward my prescription from my optometrist in LA. Within a few minutes she called me back and verified everything and told me that they had some lenses in for me to pickup and come in before 5:30 because that's when they close. Pulling in to the lot there is a great amount of parking. First thing I noticed as I walked in was that this place was very clean and nice waiting area. I was again greeted by Kelsey and the rest of the cute girls working the front office. They ended up giving me contacts, solution and container at NO charge. They were beyond friendly and courteous and helped me out in a pinch. Staff were all rad and went above and beyond. So big thank you to Kelsey, Brooklyn and Steve. We are new to the area, and needed a yearly eye exam, only reason we chose this place was because of the location. The office staff girls were very nice. There wasn't a large variety of choices for frames, but did manage to find some. The HUGE HUGE detractor was the female optometrist that wore these ginormous blue gloves she NEVER removed, washed her hands with the gloves on, proceed to touch every thing with the big blue gloves, walked in/out of the room because she couldn't find something, still with the big blue gloves on. Fast forward a few weeks when we went to pick up the glasses we ordered... she was there and still wearing those BIG BLUE GERM INFESTED GLOVES... will never return read more

I bought clear glasses and sunglasses. I wanted tri-focal. First they came as bi-focal so they had to be redone - it took 8 weeks from order to pickup. I threw away the sunglasses first. The frame was flat with no curve, so on the outside I had reflection (the external sides were like a mirror) - I could not see that when tried them in the store. When there was light from the side (like when I was driving) everything was dull - until I put my hands on the outside to block the light which gave me good contrast. The technician offered to bend the frame this and that way, which I declined. Also, the bottom lines of the tri-focal were too low, so the reading part was unusable because I could not focus when looking so far down. Then, I threw away the clear glasses. First, the lines on the right side were a bit lower than on the left and canted. Second, I had purchased with this set a crizal anti-glare + scratch resistant + UV protection (UV, I believe, is the most important protection I can do for my eyes). I used a UV light and a $5 bill. The clear lens did not seem to block the UVs, so I went to a lab with the ability to test UV absorption. The lenses were blocking 25% of the UVs and letting 75% through. Had I not checked this, for the next year or so, I would have been exposed to UVs every time I was outside with the clear glasses. Other labs such as Zeiss, Lens Crafter or Warby Parker have clear lenses with 100% UV protection. In the photos, one pair (with a rounder frame) is my new Warby Parker and the other (the squarish frame) is from Rowe Eyecare (I like the fact that Warby Parker sent me 5 pairs of glasses that I could try for 5 days - and get a good feel for them before ordering). This UV test is mostly what I wanted to share (a UV flashlight costs less that $5 on Amazon). read more

Car broke down on the way to the appointment. We contacted them 20+ minutes before appointment to let them know what happened and we would not be there right before or right at time. We ended up 3 minutes past their 15 min cut off when we were able to get there and had to reschedule for 2 weeks later after waiting 2 weeks for this appointment. Understand the rule, and yes that could be termed a courtesy but its actually your standard practice. Courtesy is when a customer has the courtesy to let you know as soon as something happens you show a little flexibility to your standard practice. It helps keeps business. Clearly they don't need our business or anyone else's. They also gave a clear picture of how little they would value us as future customers. So for my wife its 2 more weeks of migraines before we know if her eye strain is part of the problem... over 3 minutes. Go somewhere else that shows customers who show a little courtesy a little courtesy back. Honestly we waited a couple minutes for them to finish a transaction before we were able to talk to them at which time we were 3 minutes late so it was more like a minute late... but again, out of courtesy, I'll say we were 3 minutes late. read more

Husband's frames broke on a Friday afternoon. Went to Rowe to see if any repair could be done. Unfortunately not but they said they could probably put existing lens into different frames. They gave us two frame options (cost was very reasonable) and in under an hour he was fitted and out the door! All the staff were very friendly and we felt they absolutely went above and beyond. read more

I have bought my glasses from this business forever. Steve Johnston has always been ready to help me in anyway, whether it's picking out glasses, adjusting them, warranty work, etc. I took my frames back in December that I had bought in October because the finish was coming off. I was told that Steve had retired. It seemed chaotic in there with people helping with the glasses. I finally spoke to someone, told them about the finish. She told me to quit putting my glasses on anything other than in the case. She ordered my warranty frame. When it came in, she put the lenses in the new frame, had me put them on and told me they looked straight, have a nice day. I had to go to Target to get them to adjust the frames. My eyelashes were hitting the glass and the frames were too lose, they were falling off my face. I don't recommend this business at all for glasses. I don't think they have a licensed optician anymore since Steve is gone. read more

Not a good experience. Dr was unable to deal with my prism issue. The new prescription is unacceptable and the charge for new reading glasses was excessive. Front desk staff is arrogant and does not represent the Eye Care Center very well. I arrived at my scheduled appointment time today only to be told that my appointment had been cancelled. They told me they left a voice message on my phone cancelling my appointment - unfortunately, it was not received. I did, however, receive two confusing text messages; the first was an attempt to reschedule my appointment and the second was to advise me to disregard the first message. I told the front desk staff that this "administrative snafu" was unacceptable to which they said "have a nice day." Their lack of caring and concern and the fact that my vision issue could not be corrected will require me to go elsewhere. read more

Everything about this practice is thoughtful and caring. We had free adjustments to my sunglasses, and my daughter's eyeglasses while we waited for our appointment. The wait was minimal. DR. Elkhoury spent extensive time checking my eyes due to hereditary concerns of macular degeneration. Fitting my daughter and patiently teaching her to put in and take off out her contacts wasn't a problem. They made sure I had my daughters contact lens prescription so we could shop around and save money. The parking lot is even shaded making leaving with dialated eyes so much easier. Dr. Elkhoury also provided a note for my daughter's high school explaining the complications of her ocular migraines which would impact her performance on a very important test. read more
