I am extremely disappointed with NCB Mechanical and would not recommend them based on my experience…read moreduring the sale of my home. Because I live in California and the property is in Albuquerque, NCB Mechanical was given access to the home while I was out of state and unable to be present. I relied on them to perform the requested work professionally and to communicate accurately regarding the scope of the repair. I hired NCB Mechanical to complete a specific repair requested by the buyers following their home inspection: replacement of a corroded pipe associated with the water heater. The repair was completed, I paid the invoice, and provided proof of completion to the buyers. At no point was there any written requirement from the inspection report, repair request, or purchase contract requiring replacement of the water heater itself. During the repair visit, NCB Mechanical recommended replacing the water heater. I explained that I was contractually obligated to complete the repairs requested by the buyers and identified in the inspection response--nothing more and nothing less. The corroded pipe was repaired exactly as requested. What made this situation especially frustrating was the timing and the circumstances. As a courtesy, I allowed the buyers to move into the home 12 days before closing so they would not have to move twice after selling their own home. Despite that accommodation, less than 12 hours before closing, the buyers contacted NCB Mechanical directly rather than working through their real estate agent or the normal transaction process. The property had a continuous history of hot water service during seven years of tenant occupancy. No hot water concerns were identified in the inspection report, and no tenants had reported hot water problems prior to NCB Mechanical's visit. The only plumbing repair requested was replacement of the corroded pipe. After NCB Mechanical completed that work, a new dispute suddenly emerged regarding the water heater itself. Whether related or not, the timing raised obvious questions and created unnecessary stress immediately before closing. Several days after the repair had been completed and paid for, NCB Mechanical informed me that they had told the buyers I only wanted the "absolute minimum" done despite their recommendation for a new water heater. This completely mischaracterized the situation. I was not refusing a required repair. I was following the exact repair list agreed to by all parties in a legally binding real estate transaction. By making comments that suggested otherwise, NCB Mechanical created the impression that I was avoiding necessary work, which was simply not true. As a result, less than 24 hours before closing, I found myself defending my integrity and dealing with a completely unnecessary dispute over a $3,100 water heater replacement that was never required by the inspection report, the buyers' repair request, or the purchase contract. A contractor's role is to perform the requested work and communicate professionally. It is not their role to insert themselves into an active real estate transaction or make statements that can create conflict between buyers and sellers. Their comments caused significant stress, confusion, and unnecessary complications at a critical stage of the sale. While the requested repair was completed, their handling of the situation and their communication with the buyers were highly unprofessional. For that reason, I cannot recommend NCB Mechanical.

After I hung up I received a text msg telling me I had an appointment and that I would be contacted when the tech was on the way. I was lucky. A technician was available right away. I got another msg telling me the technician's name and that they were on their way to my address. When he showed up, he introduced himself and ask where the clog was. I brought him in, showed him the sink. He assessed the work and gave me a quote prior to the job. A little pricey but I accepted the quote and he got to work right away. He was very knowledgeable and explained his process and within 30 minutes my drain was running freely. On his way out he gave me some tips to help keep my drain clear and told me to call if I had any further trouble and it would be covered by warranty. All in all, a great experience. The only complaint I have is he left a small pile of rust residue from the drain snake on the floor in front of the sink. I would recommend Zoom Drain and Ismael Davis in particular to anyone with a clogged drain.

My Experience with Zoom Bath Installation:…read more I requested a quote for a shower surround installation and made it clear that I didn't want to take measurements myself. They came out, spent about 20 minutes measuring, and later provided a reasonable estimate. I agreed to proceed, and they scheduled the job a few days later. When they arrived to do the work, they acted as if I was supposed to provide the plastic surround -- something that was never discussed. I called Zoom, but they didn't seem to remember the technician who came out and took the original measurements. Since I needed the job completed quickly to sell my unit, I met the crew at Home Depot and purchased the surround they recommended. Due to an emergency, they couldn't return that day. The next day, they came while I was napping. I could hear them struggling to make the surround fit. When I got up, they had already taken the back piece of the surround and left to run errands. Later that day, I discovered they had completely removed the previous contractor's cement board (HardieBacker) installation -- which I had paid over $1,000 for -- without asking for my permission. They also did not complete the trim work, which they said it's a not part of the job. They had to return another day to finish installing the fixtures. They later claimed the surround wasn't designed to fit between the studs and the existing HardieBacker, but they never consulted me before removing anything. The final install still had no trim -- as you can see in the photos. Then they billed me nearly double the original quote. I paid the bill but asked if they would consider offering a discount -- I received no response. To meet my appraisal deadline, I ended up purchasing plastic trim myself and completed the finishing work in about two hours. Photos 1 who they left it, 2. After I did my own trim work

The first time was to shore up some poor work done on the house before we bought it. The work was done for a good price and he and his team did a little extra work to shore up some of the small issues that would have become larger issues had we not had them come out and take care of this for us. The second time was to look at what could have been a very expensive drain issue had the worst turned out. Thought it was a collapsed line but Earl diagnosed that it more than likely was not a collapsed line. They came out and were able to fix it by pulling out a piece of small pipe that would block and unblock the line that must have been accidently dropped in main line when the bathroom was last replumbed. As long as Earl is working I know who I am going to have do all my general contracting needs.

He was there the following morning (Sunday!) , and after 3 hours of work, resolved the problem. I challenge you to find a contractor that meets this standard.
