Staff were very rude. We came to the hammock cafe with some relatives visiting all the way from Italy. We thought it would be a fun, unique experience for them but our visit didn't last long... We came in and there were two young women working. They barely glanced up, led alone say a "hello" or "welcome in". we had a pretty big group with us in a small setting. That being said, it wasn't busy at all. We were looking at the menu deciding what to get and the staff seemed aggravated that we standing by the counter. It was the way she looked at us with disgust and said "we need to keep this space clear for drinks" totally understandable, but it was the way she said it. A gentle excuse me was all that was needed. While everyone was deciding what to order one of asked to use the bathroom. The staff curtly said it was for customers only and handed us the key. When we went to return it, we placed it on the counter. The woman rolled her eyes and says "You need to put it on this hook right here" The hook totally within reach of both her and I. instead of picking it up and doing it herself she told me to? The last straw was the other woman coming out of the kitchen, I suppose to go on a break or something. In the rudest tone she said excuse me repeatedly as our big group was trying to let her through. As someone who works in customer service I understand it can be difficult, frustrating and exhausting to deal with people all day but they're tone was astonishing. That was the last straw and we decided not to order anything and just leave. As we were leaving, the first woman said "we explicitly said you guys needed to order something since you used our bathroom, un fucking believable" we were literally shocked and just walked out. I have honestly never received such bad customer service from such rude employees. While the ambiance and food might have been nice, the staff were so rude it wasn't worth it. read more

Roxa is probably the most unique cafe I've ever been to. From the hammocks hanging everywhere to the bean bags and little nooks, there's a spot for everyone to relax. After much assessing, I ended up going with the Liquid Intuition (24k gold, super conductive ionic trace minerals, 72 other essential minerals, amino acids, served as a shot) and the Mancub Acai Bowl (blueberries, bananas, strawberries, pine pollen, acerola cherry, +peanut butter). I've never had a wellness shot like this so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but it was recommended by the barista to "make me motivated" and I ended up cleaning the whole apartment after, so I guess it worked? (parents, get your kids this one ). The acai was OK. It was pretty frozen and therefore lacked some flavor. Because of the immaculate vibes, I will back to try some other items on the menu as there's a plethora to choose from! read more

Me & 2 friends walked in (01/14/2024) & were going upstairs to put our stuff down/scope out the place since we are form out of town & had never been & while we were walking upstairs, one of the workers yelled at us, telling us to come down & "check out the menu" before we go up. She said that they want everyone to look at the menu before they go up, unless they're just going to put their stuff down, which is exactly what we were about to do. This is literally the best açaí bowl I've ever had. The portion sizes are really big, you definitely get your money's worth. I got a medium but I think next time I'd get a small just because of how much they put (which is obviously a good thing). For comparison, I feel a medium here would be the equivalent to a large at Vitality Bowls. This bowl had peanut butter on it and they actually put a lot so it lasted the whole bowl, I know some places don't really put a proper amount. The person I was with got the O Bombom bowl and really liked it. The texture of the base was really nice, it wasn't completely smooth like I've had at other places and I really enjoyed it. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I am so glad I helped my friend move in and she took me to this place. I have never been anywhere like it so the quirkiness appealed to me. The owners are super nice, patient and helpful if you need suggestions. We had 2 acai bowls and both were delish and I contemplated getting a 3rd one, but held off. We had a couple of drinks and although I wasn't BLOWN away with the drinks, I do think the concept is cute. I also don't know how much I believe in the effect of elixers, so for me, I am there for the experience and vibe. What I saw was a small quaint bar and a two story unique dark room with around two dozen quality sitting hammocks hanging from the tall ceiling with unique walls and lighting. Currently on my honeymoon & this was a "must stop" place for us. We literally drove out of our way for this "experience". So maybe my expectations were too high? Anyway, we show up and the girl is on the phone with a friend saying "I'll call you when I'm off" no biggie. But then she's having a wardrobe malfunction and her co worker is trying to help her... at this point there's 2 other people behind me in line. They keep yelling "we will be right with you!!" But then another 5 mins pass and I'm over it. I left. The cafe is stunning and I was impressed with the detail of the menu. It's too bad I wasn't able to try anything. The general idea of this place is cool, I did spend a few days working here and wasn't impressed with the cleanliness standard. The glasses are washed by hand, weird shapes so they never get fully clean, and no sanitizing station either. Hammocks just get sprayed down with essential oils and there's bits of glass sometimes from people dropping glasses from the second floor. Also a secret- the açaí is just frozen açaí mixed with banana you can easily make it at home for 1/6 of the price. I'm not trying to be harsh, I love the idea of a non alcoholic space for people to hang out but this one is a bit dirty and overpriced for me. read more

This place is so cool.....the kids love to come here and hang out on the hammock and sip on fancy drinks. You order your drink at the bar and then they call out your name when ready. The drinks are in the $11-$15 range. They have several hammocks upstairs and downstairs and we never feel rushed having to leave the place. It's a very chill and cool vibe! read more

This place has a lot of potential and I hope I can update this review with a better score. The interior is really unique and someone put a lot of thought into the design which is really appreciated. The drinks are also unique and most of the time I've come here, they've been really good. This most recent time however, the drink was very watery and clearly there was no thoughtfulness put into it by the person who made it. Also, unfortunately the staff here could be described as "aloof" at best. This is consistent every time I've come here. I usually get the feeling that I'm bothering them when I order. Also, not sure why but they took out the hammocks out of the upstairs section and now it looks pretty bare. My boyfriend ordered the Wolfsbane ($12) and I ordered the Artistic Vessel ($9) and was rather disappointed in both flavor and price post visit. Came here with a few friends after a morning of surfing and I'm super glad we did. I got the tropical punch since I wasn't feeling tea or coffee at the time, but my fiance and friends ordered their coffee and other drinks and I had a sip of my fiance's coffee and it was super warm and comforting. The tropical punch had a very strong pineapple flavor to it, but I didn't mind it at all as it was super refreshing. My fiance said he felt super mellowed out after his coffee and we ended up sitting for a good 30 minutes or so in the hammocks just chillin'. Already looking forward to our next surf trip so I can grab a warm cup of coffee and mellow out on the hammocks again! read more

Cool place! Absolutely beautiful and a very neat vibe except for one thing. We went tonight. I had never been but one of my friends had. There were 5 of us. My partner and ordered drinks. We get like the guy helping us quickly decided we were having the same drink and we got confused and paid. Our friends ordered after us. We waited almost 20 minutes our friends got their drinks. We waited a couple more minutes... I went up and the girl and guy were working seemed both slow and stressed at the same time. It was weird. I asked if our drinks were going to be up soon and the girl looked like she wanted to yell at me but the guy apologized and said something like "we're super busy and out of a milk abs nothings prepped" omg it's Saturday night..... how can you be this unprepared? So we got our drinks. We enjoyed ourselves but didn't feel any "effects". I truly think they hype up the effect of these drink to help with the allure. So I decided to get us one more drink to go. I walked up and asked the guy what he suggested for a calming night time tea. I ordered 2 and he told me 10 minutes. 15 minutes go by and my party is over it and wants to leave. I ask no if our drink will be ready soon abs the girl rolls her eyes at me at tells me "they're really busy" awesome..... so the dude starts making the two to gos and two minutes later the girl called my name. Then there were some snarky remarks between the girl and the guy. They seemed overwhelmed, disorganized, and incompatible working together. One of my favorite spots in town to sit and relax with friends, and have a good conversation. They do not serve alcohol, which is welcome. (Though there is alcohol options in Abbot Square, which is a 15 second walk away, as well as food options if you don't like acai) They do server interesting drinks and elixirs which claim to have many different health benefits depending on ingredients. The staff is always very helpful, and willing to break down the menu, and offer suggestions. They also serve caffeinated beverages, and yummy acai bowls. (My favorite is the Golden Ratio, though it's spelled differently) The hammocks are so fun to sit in, twist and bounce around in while chatting with others. There are a few non-hammock seating options, as well as a small room for a small group if desired. I love the lighting and music as well. They keep the environment very clean which is welcome, and they have two bathrooms on-site for patrons. Typical downtown parking. Very often, people walking by will stick their heads in, but be too timid to ask enough questions about the menu or offerings. KUDOS to the clientele as I left a small dice game here by accident, and it was turned in! I was so happy as I have had that game for over 3 decades and though it is easily replaceable, it made me smile knowing that the people who come here are the types to do that vs keeping it for themselves. This is one of my few go-to's when friends from out of town want to experience Santa Cruz. I will continue to frequent this spot any time I want to chill and chat with friends or family, and experience something fun, different and unique. read more
