Food is phenomenal, drinks are fantastic. Atmosphere is definitely not what it used to be. VERY overcrowded. We were told the bar was at capacity but not really an excuse for other people being practically on top of you while sitting at a table. Was disappointed because Roxanne's would always have the best playlist of any bar in the city, but now the draw is absolutely not there, at least for the weekend crowd. I used to come here for the playlist/drinks. Now it's seemingly turned to all 70's/80's songs and don't get me wrong I can definitely appreciate older songs here and there and even mixed in...but really there was not one single current song in the entire time I was there on a saturday night... *I now know weekends are for throwbacks* But even then maybe more of a variety to appease different age groups and played throughout the night would be a bit better. Again the food and drinks are always a hit. But even then that couldn't really save the experience for me. Just too many people in one small space :/ Fast forward to the end of the night...and tracking down anyone just to close out was painful. The woman I gave my card to had disappeared with it for over 20 minutes and so I had to go up to the bar waiting another 10 minutes just to have several people working just to close out the check. Again, busy I understand but extremely frustrating as other people would breeze through the line/order drinks in the time I was waiting. I'd say at least for the weekend nights I will not be returning. It's lost it's appeal to me. We went here as a night out on a vacation in Boston. We all got different things so through the course of the night, I personally tried: Amaretto Sour, Pink Flamingo, Vintage Vinyl and Fire Island Duchess. I would drink ALL of them again. Pricing was awesome for cocktails, especially in a city. Four of us also split one of the large format drinks; we got the Ice Cream Social. $55 for four people was decently priced and a decent amount of alcohol- waitress said it was the equivalent of about three drinks per person. The food was delicious- we got the grilled cheese and the fries. (Fries are a MUST) The decor was super fun and tropical. This place is practically MADE for Instagram. There was a really good variety of music and it wasn't too loud. Also plenty of seating throughout I highly recommend Roxanne's for a variety of occasions- date night, girl's night, after work drinks. read more

Roxanne's apparently just opened today. I would definitely recommend checking it out. The ambiance, I would call it, tropical modern. Music is easy to tune out, but if you want to bop you can. The wallpapers are tropical and there is a bird theme. The bathroom sink is a bird, but dont be confused, the wings of the bird are not the knobs. There are glass knobs. We only got drinks here, but the pink flamingo was fun and light. The monkey tail tastes like hazelnut coffee cream or a tropical White Russian. They have really fun drinks here. Roxanne's a cozy new cocktail bar opened up near Beacon Hill near Boston Common/State House. They've still got some Christmas decor on display along with a nice bar space but limited seating space in terms of tables. I was here on a weekend night and they had a DJ turning up the volume around 9:00-9:30 pm. If you plan to come around that time then make sure you have a reservation as seating can become difficult, especially for larger groups. Coming to food and drinks: Six Foot. Seven Foot (Cocktail) The serving size was good, but I didn't feel they made it strong enough given that it's mostly rum based. Even though I chose this from the menu, I later noticed that this was a popular drink on most tables. Monkey Tail (Cocktail) If only my morning coffee was as good as this. I really enjoyed this drink to the fullest that's all I can say. Fire Island Duchess (Cocktail) Just like Six Foot. Seven Foot, this also came in a tall glass with sparkling wine being dominant in terms of flavor/feel. Buffalo Cauliflower Bites (Snack) The serving size was pretty decent given the price point. Goes well with initial drinks. This should be an obvious choice if you're a vegetarian. Grilled Cheese (Snack) This was a pretty standard snack which comes with fries. I just hoped it was slightly bigger in size but that doesn't always happen with us, does it? Overall this place is a great addition to the Back Bay-Beacon Hill area with cocktails priced at $10. Given that we usually see cocktails priced at $14-16 usually I think this would be easier on your wallet. There aren't a lot of food/dinner options here as such so you'll have to live with Grilled Cheese or House Burger or a salad. Roxanne's took over the old 6B Lounge location and is directly across from its sister restaurant/bar, Carrie Nation. When we walked in at 9pm on a Saturday night, it was kind of dead with the exception of 90% women. It heated up around 9:30/10 with more patrons coming into the bar including some much-needed representatives of the other gender to balance it out. The first cocktail we got, Knife Tricks, was good, but I wasn't super impressed by the Pink Flamingo or the Fire Island Duchess. The buffalo cauliflower dip was okay, but oversauced (imagine dumping a lot of buffalo sauce on boiled cauliflower) and the grilled cheese was nothing to write home about either (but a good drinking snack). Overall this place seems like a spot to hit up if you're 25 and single, but not if you're seeking quality or unique drinks and apps. The ambiance is fun but I'm not seeing how it fills a void in the area-- there's always Carrie Nation across the way for a similar vibe and better cocktails IMO. read more

Obsessed with the interior design of this bar. It's bold, colorful and flirty. I'd recommend coming in early or making a reservation - it's a small place and fills up quickly. Came here a few months ago with some friends and my husband. The place itself is actually pretty neat. We were all in town for a wedding. The reason I'm giving it two stars is the service was pretty horrific. Not necessarily rude, but it was as if there was a game of foot to figure out how little you could go to your table and how long you could disappear without your table walking out on you. We were sat at a hightop in the bar area, and our server (Caitlin m) could never be found to the point where I started ordering from the bar and having to walk it back over. She never brought us waters once even though we asked multiple times, and there was one point where we tried to get a second round of drinks, and it took over 45 minutes For her to come back to the table and by that point, we just wanted to close out and get a drink somewhere else. When we tried to close out, she went MIA again for over 20 minutes and had to ask several people to track her down. We just really did not want to walk out on a tab and weren't carrying enough cash on us to leave with it paid. it seem like everyone else was of the mindset like not my area not my problem. The hostess, other bartenders, and it's not like it had gotten super busy. The place was certainly full about 80% but it wasn't slammed. We ended up being there an hour and 55 minutes and only got one drink each. If the service was better, we would've stayed around and gotten food and more drinks but good Lord it put us in a horrific mood and we just wanted to get the hell out of there. read more

Pre covid review: It says something when nearly everyone starts with cocktails but switches over to beer after one round....two of us had the six food seven foot and they looked totally different with different garnishes, so it seems like they are still working out the kinks there. But it was also just not good to me. Trying to put too much into one cocktail when simpler is sometimes better. Great beer list, but on 1/31/20 they were already running out of things and getting ready for their spring menu. That being said, the server was great (when we got her) but we kept having the wrong things brought out to us. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a grilled cheese, but I didn't order it. My friends and I had such high expectations for this place. But unfortunately our experience here fell short. Our primary waitress was aloof and uninviting but it was super busy so we didn't take it personally. My friends and I ordered our drinks and they were all so pretty but unfortunately we were not fond of the flavors. We ordered green tea shots for the table and no exaggeration they tasted like hotdog water. My friend ordered a sweet mocktail, but they made it sour, so she didnt finish it. And my other friend and I ordered the Fever Dream, but it was way too smokey. We explained to our waitress that it was much smokier than we anticipated and we apologized and asked if we could send the drinks back and try something else. She was instantly annoyed, which I figured would happened. We then asked her what is the sweetest drink on the menu and she recommended the Naked & Instafamous so we ordered only ONE so we can taste and it was not sweet at all. The drink tasted like spices and herbs. There's chartreuse in that cocktail, which I'm not familiar with so I'm assuming that's what made it taste like that. When she came back we were honest and told her we did not like the drink because it wasn't sweet. She walked away and another waitress who was so much nicer came to assist us, we explained to her that we just wanted a sweet drink and were all set but she was so kind and offered to make us The Side Chick and promised it was much sweeter and that it's the ONLY drink she likes on the menu. So we were hopeful and accepted her offer. The drink was beautifully presented but unfortunately it had a soapy lavender taste to it and was not sweet. We were defeated at this point and asked for the check. When we got the check we'd noticed we were charged for the Fever Dreams which didn't make sense because we asked to send them back. It ended up being this whole ordeal with the staff which is exactly what I was trying to avoid. Ultimately the manager came over and was explaining that we have to pay because you're not allowed to send drinks back. I told him I was willing to pay for the Naked and Instafamous but I was not going to pay for the Fever Dreams. He ultimately ended up taking them off and not charging for the Naked and Instafamous, which he didn't have to because I was willing to compromise. All in all I'm so sad that this experience fell flat. I'm giving Roxanne's 2 stars because although the drinks weren't our favorite and our first waitress wasn't kind, the ambiance and music was great. I still would recommend you check this place out for yourself, especially if you're into eclectic cocktails that aren't sweet. read more

The atmosphere on the place is great, it's tiki bar but luxurious. The seating includes rich jewel tones and the wallpaper is fun and funky tropical prints! The food is pretty good, particularly the fried goat cheese, and cauliflower bites. The portions are a bit small for the price. The cocktails are super good particularly the amaretto sour! Customer service wise though, they have some work to do. Nobody was particularly unfriendly but I felt more like an inconvenience being a patron more than a welcome customer. If someone was adamant about going back I'd be open to going with them but this probably won't be my first after work choice again for a while. Someone told me that Roxanne's grilled cheese in Boston are a must-try. Well, someone is a filthy liar. Not a single grilled cheese in sight! There was, however, a decent list of $10 cocktails, good music, and fun wallpaper lined with lemurs. I think I'll stay! It's pretty hard to find a spot to sit in this little space, so just expect to get cozy with the crowd. The shelves of alcohol are lit up in a way that gives this place a modern, classy, Yvonne-esque (in Downtown!) kind of vibe. As far as drinks go, I had a couple, both were pretty tasty albeit a little on a fruity and sweet side. If you do end up sitting down, be patience with the waitresses! Roxanne's was a fun & vibrant spot on a Saturday night. When my friends and I walked in, we immediately loved the fun wall paper and theme inside! There was so much colorful art - truly beautiful! We stopped by after dinner for drinks, and the place was packed. We immediately noticed that groups stayed at the tables for a very long time - when tables opened up, we were told everything was fully reserved for the night. I feel like some people used it as a hang out vs. a place to order food and drinks and there seemed to be no time limit at the tables - I wish some areas could be first come first serve so we were able to grab a seat. Nonetheless, the cocktails were fabulous and only $10!!!! Yes TEN. I couldn't believe it - as someone from NJ/NY, that is almost unheard of!
