oh. em. gee. best pasta i've ever had in my life. i was looking online for an italian restaurant and this came up multiple times. first off, the interior is gorgeous, plush green seats and antique style. we ordered their special items of the night: lobster risotto and the vodka veal. genuinely the best risotto i've ever had. the people online were not lying when they said their vodka rigatoni was the best. it was indeed very very delicious. even though all of us were full from the pasta, we still had to get tiramisu. it was a perfect way to end the meal. our server was great and attentive, thank you for a wonderful meal. read more

7/5/26: I stopped by Gigi for lunch around 1 PM on a Sunday, and surprisingly the restaurant was almost empty. My guess is that this is more of an evening destination where people come for cocktails and the atmosphere rather than lunch. We ordered a Diet Coke, the Scampi appetizer, Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. The scampi was easily the best part of the meal. It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner. read more

This place is fantastic! We highly recommend making a reservation, as it's a small restaurant and fills up quickly. We stopped in on a Saturday around 5 PM and were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar. The wine selection is outstanding, with plenty of great options to choose from. We ordered the veal, which was enormous and easily large enough to share. We also tried both the truffle pasta and the vodka pasta, with the vodka pasta being our favorite. Was looking for an Italian restaurant on a Friday night in Boston that did not require reservations and thankfully, Gigi was one of the few spots that was accepting walk-ins. We came around 7pm and were able to get a table inside! Restaurant is perfect for a girl's night and/or casual date. We ordered the Involtini di Melanzane to share, and then I got the Rigatoni alla Vodka with a Strawberry Mocktail and my friends ordered the Carbonara, Gnocchi alla Sorentina Mottacchione, and Pistachio Martini. They also served complimentary bread while waiting. The strawberry mocktail was not listed on the menu, but I appreciate how the restaurant accommodated! It was like a sweet, fizzy strawberry soda and I would order it again. I liked how all the dishes were all cheese and sauce forward. Simple flavors - would have liked a little more seasoning but everything was tasty. However, I felt that for the price, the portion sizes were a bit small (Rigatoni alla Vodka was $28). Overall, decent food, excellent service, and charming interior. Gigi is a solid Italian Spot in Boston. Booking a reservation was easy & highly recommended. It was pretty easy to get a table on Resy the day before our reservation. The only qualm I had about Gigi was how slow the service was. We waited at the door for a server for 10+ mins despite arriving on time. Dish wait times were also long, but honestly worth for the quality. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious! My favorite was their Chicken Parm which came with a side of rigatoni. Truly Pollo Perfection. Their Limoncello Spritz was very strong and fruity. Their tiramisu didn't disappoint. It was so decadent and generously infused with espresso - the perfect finish to a great meal. Wow I can not say enough good things about Gigi's. First off, the rigatonia alla vodka is one of my absolute favorites in the city, it is so creamy and saucy!! I got a Hugo spritz for a cocktail which was also very tasty. The ambiance is nice the restaurant is pretty small and usually busy so reservations are a good idea. Excellent neighborhood restaurant for authentic Italian! My colleague and I found this place through Yelp while attending a conference in mid-November 2025. Be sure make an online reservation in advance. On a Thursday evening, I was lucky to secure a 5:30pm table for two. Lots of pluses. First, the ambience of Gigi is cozy and quaint. Second, the service was outstanding as David came to fill our water glasses and check-in to make sure everything was OK. Third, the branzino was a delicious main course. My colleague enjoyed his chicken parm dish. But the highlight was the tiramisu dessert (which was a culinary gem). Do NOT skip the tiramisu - it's a superb way to end the meal. It's a little expensive, but given the high quality of dishes and service, I think it's good value. Also, because it's cozy, I would recommend this place for a small party of 2-4 people. The wait staff here is excellent! Super polite, attentive and professional. The Caesar salad was excellent but you should know it's served with avocado in it. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and it came with a side of rigatoni. Unfortunately, the sauce was incredibly bitter and the noodles were rubbery so I ended up sending my dish back. The staff was apologetic and offered me a substitution but I declined. My husband had the lemon chicken and rated it a 3/5. He also had Tiramisu and rated it a 4/5. Was in town for a conference and really wanted pasta. I looked on Yelp and TikTok and GiGis popped up. It was only a 6 min walk from my hotel so I decided to give it a try. I arrived around 7:45 and was alone. I was told it was an hour wait. I regret not making the 8pm reservation that I saw was available. But nonetheless I decided to wait. After about 30 mins of waiting outside they offered me an outdoor table but I wanted to sit indoors. About 40 mins of waiting a seat at the bar opened up and they let me know and i sat there. I really wanted the lobster pasta I saw pictured about 5 months ago on Yelp but that was no longer on the menu so the bartender recommended the risotto al manzo(beef short rib risotto). It was really good. I usually don't finish all my food but I cleaned the plate! I will say the restaurant is TINY but it has a nice esthetic. I went to Gigi on a Monday night for a birthday party, and I'm so glad we had a reservation because there was a line out the door--it was definitely a popular spot even on a weekday! The atmosphere was warm and lively, and the servers were quick and attentive the entire night. I started with a Chardonnay, which was pretty good. The appetizers were the highlight for me--especially the calamari, which was delicious. For my entrée, I got the bucatini carbonara. It was good but nothing spectacular. I flew into Boston airport and had one chance at an amazing meal in town before I left. I made a reservation for 6pm and it wasn't super busy when we arrived but got packed after we were seated. I am so glad I made the reservation. The service was amazing. It's obvious this place is Italian owned by the charming service and the amazing food. Our server didn't let our water glasses empty, and was very prompt and kind with everything else. We started with the bread, which is very obviously made in house. It was light and fluffy in the middle with perfectly chewy crust. I would bet it was made same day. Following that, we shared the bruschetta. It had a few more ingredients than I expected but I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of flavor they added. Avocados added creaminess, and jalapeno added a very nice pepper flavor with no spice. I got the rigatoni alla vodka and would 100% get it again. And again. It was a perfect blend of creamy richness and tangy tomato. I would have asked for lore bread to wipe up the rest of I could have finished it! The serving sizes are very decent. Maybe not enough to share one dish if you have a big appetite, but I don't think you could leave hungry. I saved the best for last. Really. It's so obvious the tiramisu is made in house. The decadent layers of espresso soaked tiramisu and mascarpone came together with the perfect ratios of flavor and texture. This is hands-down the best tiramisu I have ever tasted in my entire life. I absolutely loved my experience at Gigi. From the moment we walked in, the decor set the tone. It was cute, cozy, and chic without feeling pretentious. Such a warm, inviting space. We started with the carpaccio, which was light, beautifully prepared, and perfectly balanced with arugula and shaved Parmesan. Simple, fresh, and delicious. For mains, we tried two specials and both were outstanding. The duck risotto was served on a bed of creamy, buttery risotto with the duck cooked to a perfect medium. As a small, local Italian spot should be -- it was dark and moody, so my pics/videos are trash ‍ But Gigi was not, it was delicious. The Cesar salad was mediocre, but totally fine. I liked they added a few slices of avocado too, it was a fun treat. The rigatoni alla Vodka was a bowl full of al dente pasta with the most creamy, delicious sauce! The hard part about traveling solo is when you come to a restaurant like this, it's hard to order. I really wanted a protein, but they didn't offer sides of protein. The smallest thing I could order, would have been the polpette (three meatballs), but felt like a tad too much food. If I had someone to dine with, it would have been easy to split. The entrance is a bit unclear because it says please wait to be seated but there isn't a host podium. After being seated, we were greeted by our server pretty quickly. For appetizers, we ordered the meatballs (polpette) and calamari. My friend sent the calamari back because it was a bit chewy and wasn't fried the way we anticipated (it was a pretty light fry). We also ordered Caesar salads but our waiter informed us that the salads are kinda big (they really weren't). My son and I chose this place based on yelp reviews. I have to say I have always flocked to the north end for Italian and Gigis in the south end is not to be overlooked. We walked in without a reservation a little after 5pm on a super humid Friday night with the sox in town. No problem getting a table but the place did fill up fully by 6pm. For starters we ordered the salami e formaggi (olives were amazing and the cheese and meat selection with fig jam were melt in your mouth scrumptious), with main course being rigatoni ala vodka and the bolognese. The rigatoni with the velvety silky vodka sauce was excellent and the bolognese was outstanding. This is on our list to frequent when in Boston again. I dined here for my birthday. The place is cozy and lively. Our waiter, Leo was very tentative, kind, and has a sense of humor. I had a glass of white (Vermentino) to pair with my meals. It was light and crispy. For food my bf and I shared: Arancini--Crispy on the outside. Inside was filled with rice, meat and cheese You can really taste the cheese and the marinara sauce was perfect. Cozze--Our favorite appetizer! Mussels cooked in white wine sauce. It comes with bread so you can dip in the sauce at the end. Risotto all'Aragosta--Think of creamy tomato risotto with lobster. There are corns at the bottom to add a hint of sweetness. When eating you should make sure to mix or scoop all the way to the bottom. We asked for extra cheese and personally I thought it made it way better and less bland. This was my bf's favorite entree. Campanelle alla Boscaiola--If you like white wine sauce you will love this. A white wine mushroom pasta. Super flavorful. This was my favorite entree. For dessert we shared tiramisu. It was slightly cold but still so good. Started out strong with some table side bread which was great and quickly moved onto the Ceasar Salad. It had avocado in it which I thought was a bit unique but, added a really nice creaminess to the salad. Plus there was a great deal of cheese so this was a super solid ceasar. Bonus points because they served our Diet Coke out of a small glass bottle with a cup and lemon on the side, like a little wine carafe. As for the pasta, I would say it was good. Defiantly not the best pasta I've had in the city, nor the worst. I'd say it fell somewhere in the middle. The Rigatoni alla Vodka was solid, not spicy and had a good amount of sauce to pasta ratio. I am all for an al dente pasta however, I felt like it was 30 seconds to a minute under al dente and gave a little bit too firm of a bite for me. I heard the table next to us say the same as well. As for the Bucatini alla Carbonara, the pasta itself was delicious. I love love love bucatini and it tasted fresh. It tasted like they used Guanciale (which is my preference) however, the peices were really big which made for a super fatty bite which I did not love. All around it was a good dinner, just some minor qualms The service was fabulous and our waitress was super kind. The door let in ALOT of cold air every time it opened so maybe they could add like a curtain or something to combat that. It's also pretty annoying that they only allow reservations 24 hours in advance. Definitely makes it hard to plan. Not sure what the reasoning behind this is, maybe to keep it feeling elite? Unsure. Tiramisu 10/10 - At this point, I started complaining about how good the food was. Outstanding! It was perfectly proportioned between the cream and soaked lady fingers AND they weren't shy with the cocoa dust. My partner has a dairy allergy but she saw how much I was enjoying it and risked it all to try! This is legit the best Italian food I've ever had. I sat at the bar and had great conversations with the bartender and others sitting around me. It was cozy and not overwhelming! As far as food goes, I think about the Burrata and rigatoni constantly. The Burrata had a tomato jam that was to die for. I don't even like tomatoes, but the jam brought it to a whole new flavor palette. The Burrata was fresh and creamy- you could taste the quality. This was my first time at Gigi and the ambience and service were great. I would give them both a 8.5-9/10. My waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, although it was busy. I love a cozy small restaurant so this is definitely the spot for me in that regard, however I am not sure how to feel about the food. It was not bad at all, but I think I was expecting more as it has such a high rating on yelp. I was slightly underwhelmed. My friend I both split the rigatoni alla vodka and shrimp scampi. I preferred the shrimp scampi as it had slightly more flavor, but the rigatoni was just okay. The portion sizes were ideal for sharing which I appreciate. For an appetizer we ordered the broccolini (8/10) and the complimentary bread (10/10!!!). I want to give Gigi a 4/5 rating, but I was just slightly underwhelmed with my main entree. Fortunately, my phone alerted me with the total amount of the meal after I left the restaurant and I felt that I was being overcharged so I walked back to ask them to look at my receipt and change the total price for the meal. I didn't expect the server to give me the first receipt with the right amount when I asked for the check but then charged me more on my card after he swiped my card. Also, I had to tip him 30% after the changed amount since he just changed the total and not the tip part. The sauce was amazing in flavor, creamy, but not heavy at all and coated the pasta well. I let the pasta sit bit to keep cooking. I wish this option came with meat option. 8/10 Brocollini $12 - Cooked perfectly. Well seasoned and charred topped with Parmesan.
