What a fun concept and great drinks. It definitely feels rushed, so I'd love to see them add on more time for the experience. Our bartender/server didn't seem very engaged with our group. I know she was busy, but she seemed like she didn't want to talk or converse. That I think made the experience a little awkward and set the tone for us. She was nice but kind of short and seemed very preoccupied. Hopefully, that makes sense. I'd go again, but I'd like to sit with a different bartender to see if we get a different experience. Don't come hungry - they give 2 small bar snacks that are good, but don't expect full-size apps :) You up front when you book and its very limited seating so plan ahead!

Such a lovely spot- it's a pain in the butt to get reservations but I finally snagged one! The bar wasn't full when we were seated, so a few people were able to walk in. They were told that they could have one drink but would need to leave by the next seating. We received little dried fruit, a small soup to share, and ice cream as our snacks throughout the tasting. The drinks were delicious- after our first drinks, we could pick from the menu for the next 3. The drinks were super unique and I loved the glasses they chose! The spicy drinks were a little too intense, but I loved the others. It was fun chatting with the bartender and other guests. Definitely a good plan to come here after dinner - it's a lot of alcohol!

Love this place and i try to come to every single chapter! Great creativity on all the drinks and the snack/pairing. I love having the set/prepaid menu experience. Solid ambiance and service every time. You will need to eat before or after your seating as there's no true food here..but it's the North End and Italian restaurants are in abundance.

I had an excellent time at this cocktail experience. I was here for the summer camp chapter and it was excellent. I had the mezcal snowcone, berry ice tea cocktail, melon martini, and snores espresso martini. Each were really excellent! There was more food included than I expected. They have solid allergen free alternatives to the preset food (I got Burrata instead of a hot dog). The snow cone was my fav. I'd come come more if the reservations were easier to lock down!

A remarkable experience. Every time I thought it couldn't get any better, it absolutely did. This concept - complex, quirky, & unique cocktails curated to broaden & challenge your palette in a small intimate setting - is the dream. It was such a joy to watch the bar staff work their magic as we sat back & allowed it to happen all around us. The theme of the night: An Exploration of the Elements. Each cocktail related to either air, water, fire, or earth. We were allowed to choose 3 cocktails out of the 9 available throughout the night. My choices: 1 - In a Pickle 2 - Traditional Absinthe Service 3 - Roots I'm not surprised that the pickle cocktail was my favorite (it's right up my alley), but I was blown away by just how good it was. It was dill pickle infused Chopin, tomato water, lime, & an amalgamation of the most delicious savory spices. It was garnished with a pickle, of course. STELLAR! I would drink 5 if I could. Alongside our drinks, we were also served small plates & little treats. Imagine my excitement when I realized that cotton candy was one of the pairings. Imagine the shock of everyone at the bar when I announced it was my first time trying cotton candy in my life. Such a fun touch! The staff was also very accommodating to allergies/food sensitivities. Phil, the bar director, was a great presence behind the bar. A true professional, but also just a pleasant guy to be around. Jovial & a little cheeky. As past reviews have mentioned, it's very difficult to secure a reservation. Tickets become available 60 days in advance at noon sharp on the first of the month. Be quick to reserve your spot! Payment is required when you confirm your reservation. We absolutely can't wait to go back. Thank you, Farmacia!

Absolute must on the Boston experience bucket list if you're a cocktail connoisseur (if you can get a reservation!) - the price might seem steep but you definitely get your money's worth for a 4 course cocktail menu + some small bites. The atmosphere is intimate with ~10 bar seats and no tables - you'll likely end up chatting with strangers while trying an array of carefully curated cocktails. The bartender is knowledgeable and friendly, happy to answer questions and tell you more about the drinks if you're curious. I'll definitely be back to try the next menu!

I came to Farmacia on a Friday night in January at 5pm, just as they were opening. We made our reservations far in advance. Just as many other have noted, it's pretty hard to get a reservation, so be sure to book as soon as the openings become available. I'm not really a big cocktail person in general, so this was definitely a treat for me. I could tell the drinks were of high quality, which I appreciated. When I visited, the theme was tropical, so the whole menu of drinks and snacks was based around that, and the bartenders even worse Hawaiian shirts. I enjoyed all the drinks I tried, with the exception of the espresso martini, which included pineapple (per the tropical theme), but I didn't like the flavor combination. If I could make any improvements, I wish they provided some more food and it would be nice not to be limited to 1.5 hours. We were a party of three and they only gave us two soups and two ice creams, which I thought was a bit odd, especially given the price tag. Towards the end, we had to rush to finish our drinks. To me, this was fun for a one time thing and the drinks were definitely nicely crafted, but I would prefer to go elsewhere where there are more food options and would rather not be limited to a given theme. I would recommend it if you're looking for an intimate spot, maybe to celebrate an anniversary or splurge for a fancy date night!

A little late posting this review from the late summer menu but wow was this such a great experience! This place is a small 9 person bar top which lets you chat while enjoying your drinks and get to know the people sitting next to you. The bartender is great and really knowledgeable and comes up with some awesome cocktail creations. Make sure that you sign up for the mailing list to make sure that you can get reservations though. Tickets are the only way to get a seat but it's so worth it and if we can will definitely be going again!

Curious about this new cocktail bar, I booked a pre-paid reservation ($55) to try out 3 cocktails with accompanying snack/pairings. The cocktails all tasted fantastic. The 1st, the Il Dave Avery, consisted of Fernet Branca, Rittenhouse Rye, Mexican Coke Syrup, and Luxardo Cherry. It tasted like an old fashioned without any burn. It tasted sweet without having a syrupy, molasses mouthfeel, and carried black pepper at the front of the palate. It was paired with spiced bar nuts. The 2nd, the Aglio y Pepe, consisted of Vodka, dry Vermouth blend, garlic, pepper, and lemon. It actually tasted like garlic - not in the toasted garlic chip way or the giant raw clove way, but in the diced raw garlic's bit of heat manner. That was paired with chips and hummus. The hummus tasted thick and rich - probably made in house or from a decent nearby shop. I forgot to write down notes for the 3rd, so I'll omit that. If I only considered the drinks, I would absolutely return. However. the overall experience seemed rough around the edges. The bartender (the one and only, as it's his solo op w/support staff) seemed quite overworked. He was constantly running around fulfilling orders, with left little time for inquiries, small talk, and learning about the drinks. When serving drinks, the bartender seemed stiff and robotic, sticking to a script (albeit well-rehearsed) before immediately setting off to fulfill another order. In the rare times where the bartender wasn't scrambling, however, he seemed much more forthcoming in talking about the menu and different drink combos and engaging in general conversation. That may have been a case of nerves, as when I visited, the establishment had only been open for a week. One additional consequence of reading things off of a script and not having much time to explain some details was that the concoctions came off as a bit pretentious and tryhard, with fancy words thrown around to make things sound cooler. Admittedly, that happens in many cocktail bars, but those bars take the time to explain why, say, the establishment used 2 different types of amaro in a cocktail that normally only calls for one. I think that this establishment does have potential. Slowing down the pace of work and making more conversations drastically improve the overall experience and live up to, as the website describes, "the intimate nature of Farmacia".

Amazing! The menu changes seasonally so you can go 4 times a year and never have the same drink. It's definitely worth the effort of trying to get a reservation. And you need a reservation since it only seats like 9 ppl, unless you want to go at 11pm and you might be squeezed in.

This tucked away bar offers a full course meal of seasonal cocktails. You'll have to snag a reservation at 12 noon on the first day of the month to get in, but once in, it is simple and easy. Arrive at your well-timed seating and feast your eyes for an experience. The cocktails were all very heavy, so while I'd suggest eating before you come, don't eat too much. Beyond the cocktails, you'll have three small food plates and a fun interaction with the knowledgeable, sarcastic, and chill bartender.

Met 4 colleagues at The Red Fox for dinner, a recommendation from a friend of my colleague. Tough to find initially and very unsuspecting upon arrival. As you enter the front door (think like walking into a foyer of a small apartment building) you go down a flight of stairs into the restaurant. Then wow, this place is awesome! Small entry way into the restaurant with a hostess immediately greeting you. The bar is your first view of the place and it was packed. I'd describe it as dimly light, great atmosphere and ambience, almost a speakeasy feel. I'd recommend a reservation. The hostess walked us to our table, walking along the bar line with small 2-4 top tables to our left, we then turned left into the main dining room. 5 of us and we were seated at a horseshoe style table, plenty of room for up to 6 adults. Service was instant, she was friendly and very knowledgeable. We ordered cocktails and a couple apps. The drinks arrived along with bread service. They added small side plates with oils and olives, a nice touch. The cocktails were fantastic as was the homemade bread. A unique twist with my cocktail (kettle one & soda), was the single ice cube that was a long rectangle cube that was so clear you couldn't see it! The cubes length was the same as the tall glass it was served in and didn't melt. For dinner I listened to our server who recommended the Chicken Parmigiana with a chefs twist using a vodka infused sauce, this dish was amazing! My colleagues all shared the same feelings that this meal was spectacular. Highly recommend The Red Fox!

We finally got some redemption in the North End. For two straight years, my top-tier chum who…read moreliterally went to the school of hospitality and I mistakenly thought we could just wing it in the North End prior to Celtics games on the weekends and find a decent place to eat without a reservation. We were burned two times (not egregiously, but where we had to go to mediocre establishments that had seating availability for a reason), but no more. Parla isn't an off-the-charts Italian restaurant, but it was above average and the cocktail situation is excellent. I stumbled across Parla last year when we were looking for dining options, but alas, not in time to secure a reservation. The cocktail menu looked intriguing (particularly their ye olde shrub cocktail mix and match section) and the location seemed convenient. This time around we made dinner reservations about two months in advance, which I'd pretty much recommend for anything in this neighborhood if you have the ability. We came by this past Sunday before the Celtics/Timberwolves (there were multiple patrons wearing jerseys, including us) around 5pm in the rain. The entrance is a little nondescript but ultimately easy enough to spot. It's a pretty intimate interior with limited seating (maybe 10 tables or so?) and only four bar stools at the bar in the back. We were seated by the front window which was nice but again, offered at that time merely an excellent view of early spring weather. The food we had was good, and yet not the selling point - sort of a compliment, sort of not. We split the seared octopus app, which was interesting but ultimately not my favorite way to eat that particular seafood; I'm used to it grilled. We were both a little surprised to see it in salad form and had to refer back to the menu, which did mention one of the other ingredients as arugula (a fair clue). I would recommend they put the word "salad" in the official name of the app though; my guess is we probably opt for something else if we had that additional information. That said, it was fine - I wasn't crazy about the pairing of octopus and balsamic vinegar/arugula, which to me and my chum dominated the palate over the octopus, which should totally be the star of the dish. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm, which was very good - decent portion for sure and I almost finished it despite eating two other meals fairly recently. Interestingly, the best part is the sauce - it's a sweeter sauce that's thick but not chunky. Really good, and something I'd get again in a pinch. The cocktails are really something. For me, I stumbled a little out of the gate with the shrub section, opting for a mule with strawberry peppercorn. It wasn't bad but for my palate, it felt off - that's a drink I should be getting in July, not a nippy/rainy March evening. On me completely. My chum got the margarita equivalent and liked it enough to order it two more times. But I shifted to a very cool gimmick they had, which I believe was called Dungeon Master (an homage to D&D?), where you rolled a 20-sided die and had to pick whatever cocktail was associated with the specific number, no questions asked. My chum gets a little naughty with gin so couldn't risk it and had to just watch mournfully on the other side of the table as I played twice. Both of my mystery cocktails had gin in it, so...probably the right decision, at least from my perspective. I don't want to provide spoilers and damage the integrity of the game, but the nuanced layers to each drink are exactly why I love mixology/a good cocktail - the only kind of science I truly get behind. (I also liked learning about clouds in 5th grade). Very cool feature and something I'd love to make an annual tradition. Our waitress was great. She initially seemed a little eccentric/ditzy (in a good way), but it was clear that that was a mirage - she was VERY observant and at the end of the meal knew my first name for my specific credit card because earlier she'd noticed my head tilt when someone at another table used it. Really impressive stuff and a huge asset for the restaurant. She also was super knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails specifically, and it was fun to guess what was in each of my mystery beverages with her after I took a few experimental nips. Very cool, very unique establishment. Glad to finally find a selling point for the North End.
