Came here twice on my weekend trip to rural New Jersey. It's that good. Ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel both times. Also tried a mini rainbow bagel with strawberry cream cheese. Delicious. Not too sweet, creamy, fruity, pretty. Hits the spot. It gets busy here, but the line moves fast. By mid-morning, they might be running out of the type of bagel you want, but seem to churn out replacing them quickly. They have regular coffees, all the juices in the world, and great prices. I believe the SEC bagel I got was around $6.50. Lots of locals come to pick up some fresh bagels to take home. I had the pleasure of standing at the front while they brought out some FRESH plain bagels, which I took home and broke into in awe. I'd never encountered a bagel so crisp on the outside, yet fluffy and perfect on the inside. Panera is ruined for me for forever. They have some outdoor seating, but most people seem to do takeaway. I figured I'd try this spot out because the other bagel shop not far Gabe's bagel my first BLT bacon was burnt. That was Gus so I said let me go to a different one. Chester now I ordered a BLT extra bacon what I got was a BLT with less than bacon. It might've been just two strips in the whole sandwich on a roll and I got charged for it. Supposedly, I asked them. How much is a BLT extra bacon he said $8.60 cheaper than the other place I go there with a small tiny orange juice. They charge me $14 so I asked him did you charge me six dollars for orange juice so there's three dollars and change so I said 8+3 is 11 and taxes not that much, but that'll be the last place the last time in that place that I go, don't go to Chester. read more

This cost $10.65. It's one layer thin of turkey. Half a tomato. I had to show the receipt I had just been given several minutes earlier to not be charged a second time. This is not even $5 worth of ingredients. On the plus staff was friendly, but that doesn't mitigate this sandwich. read more

This place is the real deal NY bagel and breakfast sandwich you've been looking for. I've been coming here for over 20 years and it's better than any bagel I've tried anywhere else in the country. The blueberry bagels are delicious!!! My husband works nearby and brings them home. We eat some and freeze the rest. There aren't many bagel places with blueberry bagels; if they do, they have very few blueberries in them with little taste. These are sweet, and the blueberry flavor is in each bite!!! We toast them and butter em up! Drool-worthy! Sorry, I can't say much about their other products, but I'll update my review when we try more. Such a nice place to get a bagel! I got the lox bagel from here and it was hugeeee. Service was super quick and I was even able to use their restroom. The worst breakfast ever! I ordered an egg and cheese on a hero. Their hero is half the size of typical hero, it was all bread and no eggs. Even though they said they would add another egg. Save your money and go to Marilyn's cafe food is better and portion size are reasonable. I now have to go to another breakfast place to order a proper egg and cheese. It's 2024. Either have a working ATM that functions like it's supposed to, or charge people with a credit card or Apple Pay. It's ridiculous that you wait in line then you have to wait and pay their fee to use their ATM, then their ATM doesn't work and you stand there looking stupid. It's an absolute shame to do business this way in 2024. There are many options of great bagels in this area. on my way to Flanders bagels now to avoid this cluster. This is a no frills bagel and deli shop in a strip mall in Chester. No frills meaning everything you need to see is out and you just have to read what you want and order. My husband has eaten here before and I hadn't. Each sandwich has some celebrity or funky name so it was amusing reading through the menu. He had some monstrous chicken sandwich and I had a hot pastrami sandwich called Barbara Streisand. Lol. I liked it a lot and as messy as it could have been, it was put together well and not just slapped together like other places I've been to. We are there and on a weekday, there were quite a few customer coming through, some to eat in but most to take out. I'm guessing they have a lot of locals coming by. I dream of bagels from Chester Bagel & Deli. They have a crisp, shiny shell that has the perfect combination of everything bagelness (not overkill poppy seed as the bagel shop down the street). The harmonious melody of Chester Bagels Everything Bagel sounds like a choir of angels. After the first bite, the bagel snaps back the sign of a Jersey bagel. And don't get me started on their homemade cream cheese. The chive and onion cream cheese is utter perfection. On 3/29/23 I wanted a quick lunch and stopped at Chester Bagel & Deli. I'm not from the area and saw the store and stopped in. I ordered a bagel with lox and tomato, and a very little cream cheese. The gentlemen in the store were both very pleasant the whole time I was there. The fellow who made my sandwich was very careful about the amount of cream cheese and actually showed me how much he was using to make sure I was happy. I couldn't believe it! NO ONE at any other bagel store has ever done that, and I generally get too much. I made my purchases, was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price, and left. Once I opened and started eating the sandwich I was amazed and completely delighted. Besides the fact that it had the perfect amount of cream cheese, even though it was after lunchtime the bagel was soft and delicious, and there was a generous amount of lox. I don't live near this establishment and I'm not in the area often, but next time I'm anywhere near Chester I will absolutely stop at Chester Bagel & Deli for another sandwich. Stopped here for breakfast while driving through NJ. Definitely a hole in the wall kind of bagel shop/deli. It's more of a take-out place versus an eat-in deli, but the food was very good! Got 3 breakfast sandwiches on bagels and all were great. The bagels were a little dense, but the sandwiches were packed full and very filling. A worthwhile stop. Their regular bagels are really the best in the immediate area and as an added bonus, they now have gluten free bagels!! As someone who has been waiting to have a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel without repercussions, I was thrilled when I found out. While the gluten free are not as large or dense as the regular bagels, I found them to have a sweet, enjoyable flavor. When we moved out to Hunterdon County from Hoboken my wife and I searched for two things: good mozzerella and good bagels. If you've spent any time in Hoboken you know that you get your muzz at either Vito's or Fiore's. And, you get your bagels at Hoboken Bagels on Washington St. The best bagels in the entire NY area, bar none, no doubt. Voted #1 for years in the Village Voice poll. That's right, New Yorkers voted that they are better than you find in Manhattan. No one makes an everything bagel like Hoboken Bagels. The gold standard of everything bagels. So, we spent many hours driving around trying every bagel joint in the area. Flemington, forget it. Those Bagelsmiths stores scattered all over the countryside? Are you kidding? Pretty much none of the bagels you will find out here are bagels at all. What you get out here are round bread rolls with a hole in them. Real bagels are supposed to have a crust, and be chewy inside. Real bagels use special flour. Real bagels are rolled, and BOILED before baking. Clinton Bagels have the closest thing to a real bagel you are going to find in Hunterdon County, but it's still not really "right". We pretty much gave up and were resigned to picking up a dozen when we happened to be in Hoboken. Imagine our surprise and joy to discover this place in Chester after years of wandering in the bagel wilderness. These guys make real bagels. They are hand rolled. They are chewy. They have flavor. The real thing. Thank you! It's a drive for us to get here, but when we are in the area it's a must-stop treat. As others have commented the service seems a bit disorganized. But don't let that stop you. Real bagel are worth the wait. Oh, and BTW, for real mozzerella it's the Lebanon Cheese Company on Railroad Ave in Lebanon.
