The sooner you get here the better because it's super popular and the waitlist can get long. We waited ~20-25 minutes coming in at 10:30 on a Saturday morning (fyi) I ordered the breakfast platter with a side biscuit and my boyfriend got the chicken and pancakes - on the menu, it said that the pancakes were actually cinnamon beignets but it was just a thicker pancake than mine (no cinnamon on his pancake either?) I was very much looking forward to this item from the spring menu, lemon poppyseed french toast. Unfortunately my food had hair in it, that was found twice. The small bite I tried before seeing the hair was good but made me sick to my stomach to notice the hair. Smh.. So unfortunate I couldn't finish this dish. The service was slow. I recently stopped by without a reservation as my friend was in town visiting with her family and wanted to come as she hadn't been to Kerbey Lane in years. Kerbey Lane was a go-to spot for UT students when we were in college, and they always had reliable and delicious food (with plenty of gluten free options as well!) We came on a Wednesday around 12:30 pm with no reservation and had a table within about 5 minutes of being on the waitlist. Our waiter was very friendly and quite prompt with everything. Only complaint is that my chai latte was forgotten, but that could have been the kitchen or the waiter, and it was promptly resolved as soon as I asked about it. It's been quite some time since I've returned after my last experience, and while the menu has significantly changed, I do think Kerbey Lane is no longer a great pancake place for gluten free folks, given how greatly the options have been reduced (pretty much just a vanilla pancake with the option to add a cinnamon swirl or other toppings, but no fun pancake flavors like they used to do.) That said, I ordered the black-cherry smothered pork chops with tamarind brussel sprouts and was thoroughly impressed with how well seasoned the food was. The flavor was great and it was a good portion. Everyone else ordered the standard (not gluten free) breakfast food and said it was good, so if you're not gluten free, the breakfast options are a great choice as well! There is plenty of parking but the lot is somehow always full, so thankfully it's in a larger complex and additional parking is available. Due to the location, parking is always free here. The ambiance is a pretty general diner atmosphere, so it is a bit crowded and can be noisy, but this is casual dining so it's to be expected. They do have indoor and outdoor patio seating, so you can pick your preference, and the patio is relatively covered so even if it's cold outside you shouldn't be too cold. If you need gluten free and want breakfast foods, I'd recommend going somewhere else, but if you're looking for savory food for lunch or dinner, Kerbey Lane is a great option. read more

This is still one of my favorite stops when I'm in town. And breakfast for dinner is a win! They have some great specials, and my family loves their healthy options. But I needed my Eggs Benedict! Which were very good except for overcooked eggs. With the cost of eggs these days, I didn't send it back, but dang - how does a breakfast place get that wrong? We were delighted to find out that kids eat free on Tuesday nights. Service was good but a bit slow, and they were not crowded at all. So not quite the perfect meal, but still a favorite. read more

I was worried it'd be busy with it being a Saturday morning, but we were able to get seated within ten minutes of getting there and checking in with the host. I split the Lemon Poppy Seed French Toast Platter and Cuban Benedict with Home Fries with one other person and it was the perfect amount of food. I usually love French Toast but the lemon poppy seed with lemon glaze was too sweet and cakey to my liking. The Cuban Benedict was great and savory though. I saw some folks wait almost the entire time we were eating. Again, it was packed and busy. Everything was pretty good. I had the Texas toast avocado eggs Benedict and it was tasty. Overall we enjoyed our food and service was quick and friendly. It was a bit loud in there and rushed feeling but I didn't feel rushed at the table.
