This place has all the charm of a 50s-era American diner. (Perhaps it used to be a 50s-era American diner). A Chinese food place in a 50s diner--so strange and weird. The food has all the taste of a Panda Express. I had the Kung Pao chicken, others had the orange chicken, others had General Tso... yeah, you get the picture. It was just a confusing experience. I give it three stars because I don't necessarily dislike food that is similar to Panda Express; just like with Panda Express, Royal Chopstix doesn't seem like they try to come across as "authentic" Chinese. (I mean, it's called Royal Chopstix, chopstix spelled with an "x.") But that said, it's A-OK food-- but why come back to this place? Panda Express is probably slightly cheaper. And If you're looking for an authentic Chinese place, then you definitely wouldn't go here, either. read more

This place used to be so much better. I went in the other night and ordered the combination lo mein and I was just not impressed with this place anymore. The lo mein noodles were SUPER thick and overall the food was greasy and just wasn't pleasing. I hope they get back to the quality they used to have and soon or they won't make it much longer with all the restaurants coming to the area. read more

Not the most authentic Chinese spot (Dallas in general lacks authentic Chinese food) but for Americanized Chinese food, this place is great! My bf gives me such a horrible look when I order the lemon chicken, lol, I'm sure it's the equivalent of him ordering fake teriyaki chicken drenched with sauce, I would give him a dirty look too. Anyways, I love it, sauce on the side to control amount of artifical flavor, yum. He always gets brocoli and beef or the mushrooms and beef. Staff is always really friendly too especially because I take forever to figure out what I want to order, there's nothing that turns me off faster than crappy impatient employees. I'm in town for work and my coworkers all swore that I absolutely had to try Royal Chopstix. The outside may not look like much but I already know that looks can be deceiving! Some of the best food I've eaten comes hole in the wall restaurants. This place certainly didn't disappoint! I ordered the combination pad Thai and it was absolutely delicious! Crazy big portion too! I think I just found myself a new favorite Chinese restaurant. Earlier this week, I went with a friend of mine from church to this restaurant for lunch. Looking at their menu, their prices are simpler and very reasonable for the type of meats, as compared to the multiple prices for the other restaurants, and you get a choice between the fountain drinks or the sodas in their fridge. We also get to see first hand that the food is hot & fresh from the kitchen. Not just that, but very delicious to the taste. It was too bad my eyes were bigger than my stomach this time around, but thankfully, they have some take home cartons available for grabs. I'm definitely going there again soon to get some take home meals for my family. read more

Royal Chopstix is like an old friend...always ready and waiting with a hot bowl of Lo Mein to sooth your pain. Americanized Chinese food is the name of the game here and they do it VERY well. Everything is made to order and comes out of the kitchen piping hot and fresh, every time. I am partial to any of the Lo Mein combinations served up with a side of Vegetable Egg Rolls. I have also found the Mu Shu options to be very good as well. Extra kudos for the free wonton skins. These make a delicious snack while you wait for the main event. The combo fried rice was good but we were told we couldn't get it with brown rice; which tells us it was premise. Also, the mustard sauce was watery and tasteless. Good, inexpensive*, and extremely fast food. On the busiest of times, you can wait in line to order and you will receive your meal in 10 minutes. Also, its a perfect place for take out because the meal leaves hot and is well insulated due to the way they wrap it. Just guessing, but I believe it could be warm 45 minutes later. When I put up multiple to-go items at different places, this is the first place I would pick up at. *The only draw back is if you want different vegetables than the dish comes with. They charge 50 cents each additional vegetable (i.e add garlic). My favorite $6.50 chicken dish with curry sauce (add $1), brown rice (add $1), and adding a vegetable (50 cents) turns out to be a $9 meal. If you are picky about what you want, it may be cheaper to go to a buffet. Unfortunately, this happens with me more often than not ;( However, most people eat what they are given which should make it a 5 star outing. read more
