I'd give TWICE the stars if I could! Jeanette, the owner has been around over 30 years, and is amazing: friendly, thoughtful, professional. Her high integrity is undeniable. I saw at least 2 instances when she told the customer that alteration wasn't necessary, even though it's bad for her business. She would rather do the right thing instead of make a quick buck. Every time I go in, I witness how she cares about long term relationships and how the customer feels. Her expert alterations are superb; my jacket had a very weird stitch and texture, but the sleeve alterations look like original factory stitch to replicate the hem exactly. And very knowledgeable about possible change from dry cleaning process. She was upfront with me about how the cream colored part of my dress might tint a bit from the black half. I trusted her with the best results more than anyone else, and I'm glad I did. I love the fit, and the cream part is still bright as I like. I don't understand the two 1 star reviews; how could someone from SD work next to this NorCal address? I'm not an expert Yelp reviewer, but my few postings are honest... My wife and I have been going to Royal Cleaners for about 3 years now, and I see no reason to change. They always do it up nice and neat, with no problems at all. The lady at the front desk is kind of quiet, but she smiles and gets the job done. Prices aren't cheap, but reasonable. The important thing is that they've never damaged anything, and they really know how to get tough stains, like ink, out of my shirts. What more can you say about a dry cleaner? They clean stuff, and don't give you no guff. read more

I work next door & decided to give them a try since they were only a stones throw away, big mistake. I took one silk dress in & when I tried it on after the cleaning I noticed the underarms were shredded. The fabric under my arms looked like it was vacuumed up by accident. When I took it back they only offered to give me a refund for the cleaning, nothing else & basically blamed me for the wearing under the arms. I advised them that it was not like this when I dropped it off but again only a refund for the cleaning :( read more

Great service! I traveled two hours and I was not disappointed by the level of service and quality of work that was provided. My mother's vintage lace wedding dress had been in storage and was ruined with various mold stains throughout out the dress. I could not find a local cleaner in my surrounding area that would be willing to try and clean the dress. They were all concerned that the dress would be ruined. So after doing some research, I discovered Royal Cleaners in Albany and I had my first phone conversation with Jeannet who told me to bring the dress in. So I drove for two hours to take her the dress. Royal Cleaners came through and removed all of the stains and preserved the dress for me. What a relief! I rarely write negative reviews however my experience was bad and I noticed that most of the reviews are old for this place. I brought in 3 pairs of pants to get cleaned since I recently moved and am trying to find a new dry cleaning spot. My pants came back pressed and I didn't realize until I put them on that they smell like mildew. It's a really strong smell and gives me a headache after 5 minutes. I tried airing out the pants I got for a week and the smell is still super strong. The two shirts I got cleaned are ok but all 3 pairs of pants smell so bad which has not happened to me before with dry cleaning them. read more

Been going to Royal now for about 15 years. Very pleased with the service and convenience. I live in Albany so it works well with my schedule. I am able to drop off my shirts and slacks in the morning (7:30ish) and able to pick them up on my way home (5:30ish). Nice and convenient because I am able to go to the aquarium next door to buy food for my fish. A couple of times I needed to pick them up later in the day, after 6pm and owner thankfully stayed longer. Pricing is very cheap and competitive. Clothes are always handled with care with consistent results each time. Shirts are not too heavily starched and pants are not too heavily pressed. Stains are always gone no matter what the spill was. This place is honestly the best dry cleaners I have ever been to. I live in San Francisco and am willing to drive all the way to Albany because none of the cleaners in SF are as good as Royal Cleaners. I have been a loyal customer for 17 years and the long drive to the cleaners is always worth it every time I go. Every stain I get on my clothes always comes out when I bring it to the cleaners. One time I spilled white nail polish all over my $100 black Lulu lemon pants and they got it out for me. I highly recommend this cleaners! read more

These folks have the best prices I've found in the area, and do about as good a job as I've seen from the more expensive cleaners. They can also do minor repairs, like re-attaching a button or fixing a seam, again for a reasonable fee. They only accept cash for small transactions, but that minor inconvenience is well worth it to keep the prices down. read more
