Not many options to Royal. Since they send garments out to the main store to be cleaned, service is slow compared to the way it was decades ago. Having said that, they do a good job of cleaning garments and the young man that runs this store goes out of his way to be helpful and has even gone to the processing plant to bring items to us personally. I appreciate his excellent service in a time when customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I honestly don't know why I keep going back to this place. They are the worst dry cleaning service I have ever had. Each time I pick something up, there is an issue. The shirts are always wrinkled or dirty. Plan to spend time at home re-ironing your shirts because they do such a horrible job. Most importantly, they write your phone number IN PERMANENT PEN on your clothing. My white dress shirt now has my digits marketed on it. Who's idea was that? Why on earth would a dry cleaners, a place where you go to get your nice clothes cleaned, write in permanent ink on the back of your shirt? It is idiotic to say the least. Don't go here. The hour drive to Albany or literally any other place to find a dry cleaners is much worth your time. read more

These people are terrible. I had a shirt there for 6 months because they could not clean it to save their lives. Dropped it off in October, finally got it mostly clean by February. First time came back with starch stains from pressing (even though I asked for no starch), asked them to redo, came back for it- they did clean the existing starch stains, but also put on some new ones in other places on the shirt. And on and on. Sometimes the monotony of this cycle would be broken when they stained the shirt some other way, like with ballpoint pen. I now drive to a different state for dry cleaning. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I took a suit in to be cleaned. It came back unclean. I agreed to have the suit cleaned a second time and it again came back unclean. The associates acknowledge that the item had failed to be cleaned yet refused me a refund and told me to contact the owner. After four weeks and many messages I have yet to get in contact with the owner. Save your money and a headache and drive to another town with a different cleaners. read more

I took in a much-loved holiday top to Royal Cleaners in early December. They have shrugged and mumbled about it now for more than three months (it is the end of March). A surly attendant said that she'd see if she could call the manager this week and maybe I'd get a discount for future dry cleaning. I said I didn't want that: I want my top found, or I want cash to replace it. She told me "they don't do that." Evidently they don't return your property, either, or care about where it might be. There is no nearby competition, but I'll go to Manchester or Great Barrington if I ever need dry cleaning again. read more

I was hesitant to bring my clothes here because of the bad reviews others have written. But I was desperate, and I decided to take the risk. I talked to a couple of friends in Williamstown who said they have used Royal Cleaners and found it to be fine. I have practically no experience with dry cleaning, so I don't have much basis for comparison, but my clothes came back clean and nicely pressed. They do not clean the clothes in-house but rather send them to Pittsfield, so there is a lag in turnaround time. I dropped the clothes off on a Friday morning and was told they'd be ready on Wednesday. I asked if there was any way to get the clothes back faster, and I ended up paying an extra $4.00 for a "rush" order so I could pick them up on Monday evening. It was a total of $39 for a women's suit and dress/jacket outfit (including the $4 extra for the rush). I was surprised it cost that much, but again, I don't have prior experience with dry cleaners. I've taken dry cleaning here occasionally for the past few years. I never will again. They recently lost a shirt. I understand that might happen (although it shouldn't) - but the worst part was how they handled this. I went back to the cleaners' four times, each time being promised a follow up call to give me an update. Finally after four visits (2 months!), they called to tell me they could not find it and would give me a $25 credit. I had already paid for the shirt's cleaning and no refund was offered. And $25 was nowhere near the cost of the shirt. And since I refuse to use them again, I am now out a shirt and the cost of the dry cleaning. Whatever you do, do not use them unless you want to be treated so callously. read more
