I grabbed coffee at another coffee joint before I went to the movies today. Of course they made me throw it out even though it was practically brand new. I should have known better but I was willing to take the chance of bringing it into the the theater. I have been to Royal Coffee a long time ago. It's been about 8 years since I have had coffee here. I stopped in to grab a caffeinated beverage since I had to toss mine earlier. It's nice that this joint is located in the Village. I'm always full from lunch or dinner so I've never had a desire to grab a drink after a meal. So I'm happy I got to stop in today. I was greeted by a sweet barista behind the counter. She was making a couple drinks. Her counterpart came out of nowhere and greeted me by surprise. I got my drink squared away with her and waited along the side for me drink. I got an iced sugar free English coffee americano today. Of course with room for cream. My drink was perfectly made. It had a good amount of espresso to ice. It wasn't watered down. It had the right amount of cream and English toffee. This drink was so much better than my initial drink that I threw away. I didn't feel bad for tossing it after getting this drink. It's such a bummer it took me so long to come back to this joint. I remember vividly liking this place when I first came. It's crazy how time has flown by. I really enjoyed the sweet gals working today. And I most enjoyed my much needed iced caffeinated beverage. I know this time around it won't be another 8 years till I come back. I love that you can get a 32 ounce ice drink. Otherwise, this place is not worth the stop. I got a bacon breakfast sandwich on ciabatta. It was unbelievably bland, with a razor thin, single strip of bacon. The matcha would be perfect with some added vanilla. I regret not getting tacos from the business next to Royal. read more

I drink a lot of coffee, but my singular rule is no coffee past noon. Like some people, I struggle with keeping to my rules and goals. I was with my two brothers-in-law as we visited the Village at Meridian during a frigid Thursday night. They both wanted coffee and while I didn't necessarily want a cup of coffee, I was not opposed to having a cup of coffee if it was good. A little background on my coffee preferences. I exclusively prefer a dark roast and not a blend. Single-sourced, organic, fair trade from Mexico, Central America, Sumatra, or Ethiopia Most mornings, I grind/ pour my organic coffee beans that are single-sourced from a certified grower in Oaxaca, Mexico. I then add either two to three shots of espresso and top it with a little unsweetened almond or coconut milk. I completely understand that I am difficult but that's my coffee preference, you do you and I'll do me. Going back to Royal, I noticed that they have a Mexican Mocha. I asked our barista about the ingredients and she informed me that their version of Mexican Mocha is Mexican chocolate, cinnamon, and the customer's choice of milk. I ordered a medium with almond milk and it was ready very quickly. My two brothers-in-law ordered other drinks. Quite frankly, I don't remember if they were lattes or cappuccinos. Nonetheless, all three drinks were close to $20.00 My drink was very good. It wasn't strong, which was fine for the time of night, but it had the right mix of chocolate and cinnamon and it was hot. My only grip was the prices for three drinks. I understand I am at the Village but my brothers-in-law didn't order complex or overly large coffee drinks. Would I order the Mexican Mocha again? My "hot mocha" tasted like a $6 lukewarm cocoa with hints of burnt day-old Folgers. Didn't even finish it, gave it to the trees. Though I'm sure Mother Nature doesn't like being force-fed overpriced boof. read more

Royal Coffee Co. has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the Village. After I finish a yoga or cycle class in the morning, I head over to order an iced coffee and breakfast sandwich with turkey and cheese. These are exactly what I need after class and the warm fireplace inside has been great during the winter. They are located in the middle of the Village square where a view of the musical fountain can be viewed indoor and outdoor. The interior is spacious and you place your order in the middle of the building. There is also plenty of seating to go around. They don't offer a lot of choices when it comes to breakfast or lunch items, only some pastries and a few breakfast sandwiches. However, there are a couple other restaurants inside the building that serve food around lunch time. Overall, I will continue to come for the flavorful coffee, kind staff, and clean environment. While very recently in Idaho for the weekend visiting my boyfriend who lives in Nampa we decided to go out for a date night. My boyfriend has been here and several other businesses in this area before and he joked with me that Royal Coffee is so good they must make it with crack! Lol I then knew we needed to make that our first stop before catching a movie at the cinema and eating at Kona Grill next door for dinner. I'm so grateful for coffee.. think about it, IT'S A BEAN THAT YOU DRINK ! Anywho, I asked for the Mexican mocha iced and my boyfriend asked for the salted caramel coffee iced. We went to sit at a little table outside in view of the gorgeous water fountain and after sipping on our drinks we agreed the drinks were very good but i believe they made a mistake with both our drinks. The Mexican mocha did taste like chocolate and cinnamon which I would expect a Mexican mocha to taste like but I asked for mine iced and it looked blended.. not a big deal to me, i just wasn't expecting that. My boyfriend may have also been given a Mexican mocha as he said his coffee didn't taste like caramel to him but more like cinnamon which is what my coffee tasted most like as well. His came out iced as he asked though. We agreed the issues with our drinks weren't that big of a deal to ask them to remake them and we just drank them but if you're very particular about what you want you, just be aware of that and make it clear to them when you want your beverage made a certain way. My wife and I are visiting from Orange County, CA. We're thinking of relocating. Our real estate agent brought us here this morning. The service was good and the coffee is great. Located in a large indoor space with an Asian and Mexican eatery, the common tables have a view of the beautiful water feature at the heart of the Village at Meridian outdoor mall. We really enjoyed the place, so much so that we returned in the afternoon to eat there. read more

Visiting Idaho from CA and let me tell you this is by far the best coffee shop I've tried here so far! It was my first time trying a white caramel mocha and let me tell y'all I was IMPRESSED. I'm usually an iced coffee kinda girl but their hot coffee was even better although my bf and I got the same drink (you really taste more of the flavors). We received great service and didn't have to wait but a few minutes for our drinks. This place is a must try whether you live here or you're visiting!!! read more

When visiting Meridian, I stopped with some friends at Royal coffee and was pleasantly surprised. The coffee was wonderful, pricing was reasonable, and we received our drinks so quickly! Been coming here since it was Village Coffee. Still has the charm and a fair drink selection. The prices are reasonable and they are pretty quick to have your drink ready the biggest highlights are the seating and the service. There are enough chars and tables for a proper get together with family and friends, one seat by the fire, a few near plugs for a laptop or phone. There's a seat for just about anyone even on their busy days. The service is fantastic. The crew always smiles and seems like they are treated pretty well. Some even remember my odd selections and drink requests making me feel like a regular. There's plenty of reasons why I always seem to end up here during my free time. So disappointing. I bought a $7 iced coffee in summer and it has no ice. I asked for more and they wouldn't give me any nor would they let me purchase ice to refill my cup. Crazy ridiculous. If you run out of ice in summer, get a bigger ice machine. You have the business to support it. read more

The space that this coffee shop in is super cute and cozy. The perfect place to escape the cold for a bit and take a break from shopping. I got the iced vanilla latte. It was very delicious and the espresso was the perfect amount of bitterness with the vanilla. Staff was friendly, definitely enjoyed what I ordered and the space. Let's bring out Skumps the trumpeteer from Sleeping Beauty to announce that this place... is adequate. Honestly, Meridian has few coffee shops, so this is probably a better option than most... but still not great. While the coffee is just a notch above 'I-will-throw-this-away-after-two-sips'. The staff is nice, there's a lot of seating, and it's in the Village so at least you have coffee to walk around with. read more

Honestly love coming here on the weekend. Staff is quick to make orders and pretty friendly. Best part is sitting outside with our dog to get her used public noises while we're sipping on some coffee. Fountain near by is very relaxing and place is kept tidy. Highly recommend read more

We really enjoyed our first visit to Royal Coffee. With so many barista chains out there, it's refreshing to support locally owned and operated businesses. And... the coffee was AMAZING. Had a wonderful experience here on Labor Day. I wish I got the girl's name who helped us, but she was a gem. It was about 11am on Labor Day and she was wearing a white and black polka dotted shirt from Urban Outfitters...sounds super creepy that I know that, but she told me and I want her to get recognition for being so helpful and kind! Anyway, I don't know what it was about Labor Day, but many places we went for food that day seemed to have angry/rude employees, I'm not sure if they were mad they had to work or what, but this girl was a breath of fresh air and so kind. She was super helpful and got all of our orders correct, she even helped me find a place I could get a breakfast burrito! I also loved my blended Irish cream drink. It was my favorite coffee I have had in the whole local area! Yum! I felt I needed to review this place because this isn't the first time I've been here and every time I've come here, it has been nothing but kind and helpful service and yummy drinks! read more

It tastes like green apple Jolly Ranchers. There's a good amount of jellies on the bottom that you get a couple pieces every time you take a sip. It's quite delicious! There's plenty of tables and seating for a great coffee date or a spot to do homework. It's the ultimate chill spot to grab a drink and enjoy the moment.

The workers were able to answer my questions about what ingredients are used! Super helpful. It's set up kinda like a fast food restaurant. You order up front then they will bring it to you. They have bowls, burgers, flat breads, coffee, smoothies, and they offer meal prep cheaper than any of those home mail services! Very good! Will definitely be back!

AND (!!), Tuesdays are discount days in The Village and so the Tuesday I was there they were offering their coffees at buy one, get one half off! They have plenty of seating and even have a lovely fire feature you can sit by if you so choose. Plus, in finer weather, there is outdoor seating as well. Bonus reasons for fandom: They serve BOTH a Salted Caramel Mocha and a Mexican Mocha! How to choose? Both are like Autumn in a cup. They have some particularly tasty looking cinnamon rolls (I was just there for coffee but would definitely like to give the cinnamon rolls a try next time!). We were close to the area and we finally were able to visit and I'm sure glad we did. The restaurant is located in a nice shopping center on the corner of Eagle and Overland, immediately on the other side of 84. The location is nestled towards the back of the center and can easily be missed as it's tucked in the corner of a small lot. We were greeted with a huge smile and swift seating to a booth in the larger dining room area. Even though it was barely 11:30 am on a Saturday, the dining room was already filling with hungry customers and the kitchen was notably bustling. We had Kaitlyn as our server. She arrived with a sunny disposition and eagerness to get our orders going. Downside, due to cost, tomatoes are not available. I have to say, that kind of broke my heart a little...tomatoes, in my eyes, are a requirement for every burger. I ordered the Bleu Bacon single burger and hubby had the cheeseburger. We ordered a small fry (1/2 pound) for us to share. Food did take quite a while to come out, but our server did come by several times to check on us, refill drinks, and give us updates (apparently a large to-go order backlogged the kitchen). The burgers came out first. I was a little underwhelmed with the small burger plate and cheese that was obviously cold when added to the burger and had become a tad sweaty from being steamed instead of melted. I had little hope....but then I took my first bite. The Kaiser hamburger bun was soft, burger patty was nicely seasoned and the bleu cheese was punchy without being overwhelming. The bacon sung through. The fries quickly followed. We were surprised by the home cut style, thick and irregular...rustic and perfectly cooked. These suckers are huge. But with every fry, it was crunch-tender on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I really enjoyed our visit, but the place seemed to be a little understaffed. Several tables had plates stacked or cleaning supplies atop the tables. That aside, service was attentive and the food tasted great, even without the tomatoes.
