Once you get past that this lovely little café is in the parking lot adjacent to Fred Meyer, you'll be so happy you took the leap! Lovely fireplace and couch seating, I can't remember anything remotely like that around Boise. My latte was delicious, and I shared a giant croissant and breakfast sandwich with my friend. I don't drink coffee so take if from that standpoint. I was surprised they had Pupusas and although the price for each one was 6.50 (I know in big cities they are creeping to that price but here???) Anyway I'm asking question about the Pupusas etc. And after still about a 1.5 minute talk I order one they tell me they are out. Just tell me that from begining.... Stopped into Antigua for a much needed caffeine break. I looked up the address to this place and it seemed oddly familiar. Pulled into the Fred Meyers parking lot and knew exactly where to go. This joint used to be another coffee shop 10 years ago. I studied here with my classmates over many cups of coffee. Today it is Antigua. Walking in, you would have never known it was a different coffee shop. I didn't even recognize the place. It is completely stunning. I love the bright walls with the big pictures. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful art piece above the fireplace, it's gorgeous. The plants added a welcoming touch. As vibrant as the yellow walls were, it wasn't overwhelming. I was greeted by the barista behind the counter. She was kinda hard to see at first, she was tucked away in the corner. I ordered my usual small iced americano with room for cream. What I appreciate about this joint is that they have quite a few sugar free options. Today I got sugar free chocolate, what a fun option. While she was getting my drink made it checked out their wall of nick nacks. The wall was filled with the most lovely pieces. It showed their heritage and roots all in one wall. Each piece was delicately placed. It was neat to see all the fun colors, different dolls and photos. Whoever decorated this wall did a magnificent job! Each piece on that wall was so unique. The sweet gal had me drink ready. It looked delicious! It also looked more on the breve side than an iced americano but that's OK. It was still delicious! Since there was more half and half, it was a heavier drink but you can still taste the espresso and sugar free chocolate. I chatted with the sweet gal. She's the daughter of the owner. I complimented her on how stunning the shop is. She was very proud to tell me her parents were behind it all. Nothing is more touching than seeing the child of an owner so proud of their parents. Running a small business isn't for the weak. It was just the sweet gal and I so we got to chat for a minute. It was late afternoon so the shop was very quite and chill. It had a great vibe to the joint. Antigua is beautiful. They produced a great cup of coffee for me today. And they are a local joint. Proud I got to come in today and check this place out! My grandma is around the corner and now I have a nice place to head to for coffee when I'm in her area. I look forward to coming back. read more

This is my second time going to this coffee shop. First visit I ordered the Antigua breakfast food was delicious and serving was perfect. Portions were reasonable and Salsa was free. The only thing I did not like is that I was charged almost $3 for a cup of hot water. Prices were expensive but I guess it was worth it since I got a good amount of food. Now this time around I was really surprised. Portion on my plate were way smaller, my eggs were a bit raw AND this time I was charged $1 +tax for small serving of salsa. I have never been to a Hispanic mom and pops café where they serve food without salsa. . Getting a bit stingy with their portions, charging for a small serving of Salsa was ridiculous and their prices were higher! This time it was definitely not worth it. A little, unassuming coffee shop that you probably wouldn't notice, but take notice! Antigua is a gem. I have not tried the coffee, but the flavors of most of the food comes from the heart of Guatamala. The food here is freshly made by a husband and wife team, who are pleasant in every way. As for the food, it's warm, made with love, and served hot. My very first visit there, I knew it was great when I ordered the most basic thing on the menu....a spinch and egg wrap. Nothing else in it that I could see. The eggs were the fluffiest I've ever had with a somewhat garlicky flavor, but no herbs were added. It was delicious. My brain couldn't quite understand how something so simple could be so satisfying. We also had French Onion soup (her husband lovingly makes this). This is one of my husband's go-to soups, so he's had LOTS of different versions of it, but he was more than happy to have ordered this one...it had depth and plenty of onions and toppings. He is a permanent fan. And, don't get him started on the Cuban! It looks basic, but it tastes fantastic, and please use the weird little sauce that comes with it...add a little on every bite you take. It's their secret weapon. :) I cannot fail to mention the Verde Enchilada. If you love enchiladas, it's a must try! Going back for coffee...I'll let you know how it goes, but my guess is it's probably amazing. These people don't do anything halfway. read more

Unexpected favorite. Hardly noticed this hidden near Fred Meyer in Meridian, but once I tried it, it ruined me for other coffee spots. Great flavor to coffee, delicious PB, banana and Nutella smoothie, and great breakfasts. I haven't tried the pastries, but I hear they're amazing. The avocado toast is the best I've ever tried. Was very taken back at the price increase from just a couple years ago , 50% + price raise across the board. $10 in 2021 is now $16..... most reasturants in the area are at a maximum 35% uptick. That's 60% here. Absolute insanity to pay almost $20 for a pastry and coffee . read more

After seeing all the stellar reviews, I decided to skip starbucks and try Antigua. The place is beautifully decorated and has a cafe/home vibe that I loved. I ordered a iced coffee and waited 17 minutes. I know this because my YouTube video ended at the 17 minute mark. There was another customer who had ordered before me and he was pretty agitated because we were the only two customers in the store and it seemed as he waited for a long time. Ok to start this off it was a great place, great service, a bit pricey I'd say but still worth it. I'm also a picky eater. Upon arrival I felt that the place was cute and how you'd like a cafe to look, I personally loved the interior. The woman who attended us was very nice and gave good service. I ordered with my mom and we got the hibiscus lemonade and three pupusas. I got the Beans with cheese and it was so delicious the beans with cheese was so flavorful and the tasted bursted in my mouth, my mother got the spinach with cheese and didn't like it that much, she said it was too salty. Lastly was the Beans, cheese with pork and it was way too salty for me personally and I love salty stuff. The hibiscus lemonade at first taste was horrible and bitter because I didn't know I had to mix it and the staff didn't tell me, as well as the person who made my drink mixed it and I thought that was enough. After my mom told me I should mix it but then mixed it for me and finally it was sweet. I loved it at the end, to be honest I think it was tea but I asked for lemonade. Overall I would recommend a little and it was and ok place. I would rate it a four and my mother less then three. read more

I was visiting from out of state and so glad I stumbled upon this Guatemalan coffee shop! The pupusas were incredible--fresh, flavorful, and honestly some of the best I've ever had. Their coffee paired perfectly with the meal, and the prices were very affordable, which was such a nice surprise. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made me feel right at home (especially the lovely lady who took our order). Avocado toast had the perfect amount of salt to make it flavorful but not salty. Cuban sandwich bread was delicious but could use some more mustard. Strictly just the coffee here is better than most shops around this area. I got the americano a few times and the coffee is smooth, not bitter with some Smokey notes. They have a drive through window and an indoor seating area. Service has been friendly the few times I have gone. I did try the lunch pupusas and I did not like them. This local biz is located in the same parking lot of Fred Meyer and was recommended to me by an awesome Elite who picked up these awesome pupusas right before we met and I just had to swing by and get some for myself!! I tried the revuelta (cheese, bean, pork), chicharron (pork and cheese), Loroco (cheese and herbs), and the Friijo con queso (bean and cheese). My favorite of the bunch were either the Revuelta or the Frijo Con queso - the beans really add a great texture and balance! It's all made to order but I also had a couple left over that I saved and ate just a couple hours later and it's maybe better cold/ room temperature. The leftovers really hit a nostalgic spot on my stomach- it's like an upgraded version of the quesadillas that i'd pack for lunch. If you haven't tried pupusas before, this is the spot to get some! read more

I gotta say, I was pretty skeptical expecting decent food at a coffee shop. I think of the poor items Starbucks pawns off on people. This place, Antigua Coffee Co., advertised a "delicious Cuban sandwich" and "because you love them" pupusas. There were only seven Yelp reviews, but they gave Antigua Coffee high marks. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, a pork and cheese pupusa and a chile relleno to bring home for Kristy and me. And a mocha on the side. I was pleasantly surprised. I've had a number of Cuban sandwiches over the years. The best was at Sol Food in San Rafael, California. The Antigua one rates as one of the best I've had, better than what they serve at Casa Blanca Cuban Grill in Boise. The pupusa ranked with the ones at Pupusas A&J's in Caldwell. It was very good. It came with a curtido that had a bit of a bite. Wonderful! The relleno was also very good. It was served with rice and black beans. i enjoyed the mocha, made with Dawson Taylor coffee, was very good. I took off a star for inconsistent mask wearing by the counter employee. She had it on when I first came in but later took it off and had it off when she brought the bags from my order. I was surprised to call up Antigua's Yelp page before I started this review to find that Carl Y. filed a review today, too. He and his wife must have been there the same time I was, but not having met him in person, i didn't realize it was him. I'm glad they liked it, too. He has good judgment. read more
