Sitting at the Sushi bar, the crew behind the counter was busy but the wait staff checked up on me like I was a VIP. I didn't even need to ask - someone was there to follow up. Not hovering. Just great timing. They do not offer Sashimi sets thus what you see in the pics I posted. Not complaining - I got my fix later in the week. But enjoyed the meal from appetizer, to dessert and the drinks in-between. I especially enjoyed the Yellowtail Jalapeno - nice punch of flavor - same for the Crab Sunomono. The Margarita Roll had a little kick - not spicy for me but if you're sensitive to spicy heat - might want to avoid. Grabbed the Banana Tempura for dessert. Figured it would pair well with the Banana Bread Old Fashioned. It didn't. Little to strong for it. That's on me. But enjoyed the separately. Next time I'd order something that doesn't overpower the dessert. But next time I might just say it's two desserts - the second being of a liquid variety. Anyway, would I go back? Handmade gyoza - the gyoza was really good and it had a very savory flavor and taste to it. It felt like they were very fresh and they filled them to the brim and you could taste it. I got the pork ones because I wasn't getting tofu lol and they were really really good and I would actually go back for those when I go back. Okonomiyaki - this one is a weird one so it's a pancake type of situation but it's more cabbage than pancake. I'm not sure how I feel about it but it wasn't terrible but it wasn't really good either. Now I will say that the fact that what sent this over was all the sauces that they put on it. I'm not sure what the brown sauce was but at the same time I know that the mayo was basically drenching it as well. You can get one topping on there and the selected topping was steak. The flavor of the sauces and the steak pretty much carried the pancake because it didn't have a lot on its own. I am glad I tried it but I probably would not rush back for this. Karaage - it's fried chicken. It's not like it's anything earth-changing or somebody's auntie or grandma making it but it was pretty decent fried chicken. It came with mayo that you can dip it in but it wasn't anything life changing to me. Japanese curry (steak) - the Japanese curry was good but it was just curry. It wasn't anything that I couldn't get anywhere else at another type of restaurant but it was good and it was savory and it gave me exactly what I needed. When I ordered curry it came with rice, which was also nice that you could use as part of the meal as well, but it was just pretty good curry. Just if you need options... It comes in vegetarian if you want to do that because they have a tofu version as well but I didn't get that at all LOL! Overall I would give this another go but it wasn't a complete five star thing for me. It wasn't bad but at the same time it wasn't life-changing. What this means is the cost (c) is way too high, giving it a low 1-5 in the equation. Also, quantity (q) is low, about 4-6. So, the resulting coefficient is very low overall. From my understanding, the fish here only comes from Japan, so it's good stuff - and they really load up the rolls (a lot of the time), and they have this deal on weekend for special rolls (25% off I think). So you do get the quality, quantity, and decent price (about $12-15 per specialty roll). The regular rolls are good too, and loaded with fish. E.g. spicy salmon/tuna.
