Matt (our bartender/waitstaff) was great! Personable and knowledgeable. The downer was a petite, blonde waitstaff whom I watched run her fingers through her hair, again, and again and again (I'm sure you get the picture) and then adjust her cleavage while behind the bar!!! I don't want to drink from the glass she handled or have the lemon she touched, thanks. Matt made sure to bring out our food after listening to my concerns. We love this place for a fun celebration. There is something for everyone and the Keg size option is a nice touch. The filet comes with a side, vegetable and salad for a great price. The price is ridiculous - for a party of 4 - 3 steaks and 1 prime rib dinner - 2 starters we shared - 1 single bottle of Heineken - the 3 of us each had soft drinks - and we know how much they hate that ... the price was over $400 for a meal - not a single desert ... I know it's not a restaurant we go to often but the service could've been better like serving the only woman in the group first (manners please) and the one server who brought the food my 26-yr old son said 'it ain't hooters' as her hoochie was barely covered as her legs met the table - gross. I recently attended a business meeting at this location with a group of approximately 15 individuals. Prior to the meeting, we had contacted the restaurant to ensure resources for our meeting, including a projector/TV and AV equipment. However, upon arrival, they did not have the necessary equipment. They do have a TV with ports for HDMI; however, you have to bring your own laptop with adapters, just as an FYI for those who intend to use this venue for business purposes. The private room is an enclosed area; however, there are just sliding doors that separate it from the main room. This is actually quite disruptive for meetings as people are coming and going in the room, opening and closing the doors, and you can hear the noise of the rest of the restaurant. As a presenter, I would have wished for a better setup of the room: It is a long room, with a projector/TV at one end, with a long rectangular table that is offset in the room, accommodating approximately 12 or so individuals (who have to crane their necks for the view of the TV), plus an additional round table, which is awkwardly positioned against the wall, with limited views of the TV, and against the back wall, several tables. The acoustics are poor, and the lighting is quite dim. I found myself 'yelling' at points given the noise levels. That being said, the staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the service was excellent. In terms of the menu, given the business dinner, it was a set menu with a choice of the Keg Caesar or the Iceberg Wedge - Both were overdressed and salty. The choice of mains include the Prime Rib, the NY Striploin, the Pistachio Crusted Salmon and the Chicken Oscar - These were accompanied by some form of mashed potatoes and vegetables - I can understand why people come to the Keg for the steak dinner experience; however, it's quantity over quality in my opinion. The portions were exorbitant with salty and overdone sides to match; some individuals may like that; however, it's not unique, and doesn't live up to expectations. The dessert options were the 'Billy Miner Pie' which is a mocha ice cream with chocolate crust, hot fudge, caramel and almonds - Just seeing this dessert made me a bit nauseous to be honest. I had the cheesecake (to go), which actually took me several days to enjoy, as it was quite rich. Overall, The 'Keg" experience is really for those who would like to go to overindulge, but nothing 'special.' read more

The staff and food quality here just doesn't line up to what you would expect from the keg. After numerous meals here and a big miss every time, I wrote to their corporate office to let them know that they have a seriously deficient operation in Guelph -- all they did was forward the email to the same ineffective manager I already tried to deal with. Bad food, they offered to comp a bottle of wine (and then comped a bottle we didn't drink.. basically added a bottle then comped it, we didn't get it). Too frustrated to bother, go to Cambridge or somewhere else - this place is a gong show. read more

So completely disappointing. Went there last night with a friend of mine the place was empty we were seated by a lovely hostess at a booth near the bar. We then sat there for 10 minutes with not a single person acknowledging our presence there. There were lots of servers wandering around, mostly chatting amongst themselves, the bar was lined with employees that had finished their shifts and were sitting and enjoying drinks. Apparently actually serving customers though is not something that The keg feels like doing for people. After 10 minutes we got up and we left. I told the hostess and one of the chefs who seem to be the only adult working in the whole restaurant exactly why we were leaving and why we will never go back. We walk down the street to State and Main got served within a minute and a half and enjoyed our meal and the ambience. never will go back to The keg I don't care how good your escargot is. Maybe not employ children more interested in chatting amongst themselves and actually serving the customers would be a good idea. Don't waste your time at The Keg, go somewhere where they actually want your business. read more

starting with the food I would say excellent for a chain steakhouse! With the exception that they gave me enough asparagus to feed a small army. Maybe they got a deal but really not necessary and detracted from the meal. Service was better then the average Keg and possibly the best steak in Guelph but the competition is limited. read more

Keg food is keg food, that's why you should expect about the same but here's what you got to do before you show up. The pregame: Call ahead and order your reservation under Devlin's name. She's going to make sure you have an experience money can't buy. We were no easy table to please with our thirst quenching, sour cream consumption, and high maintenance drink orders but she was always there for us to compete with our conversation topics. I'm a big fan of The Keg and have visited many locations across Canada, but the Guelph location was a real disappointment. I had their holiday feature/special - the steak was dry and tasteless, and the fries were too salty. In fact I had the identical dish at the Waterloo location just a few days ago and they made it so tender and perfect. Came here on Valentines Day and was thoroughly impressed with the service and food. We were seated in a nice booth which I had requested. I hate it when restos give you a tiny table even though you booked a booth in advance. Our server Amit was friendly, efficient and on point. The steaks were cooked to our preferences and were yummy. My wife and I are regular customers of The Keg in Guelph and for the first time in 5 months made a reservation for dinner on Saturday July 18 at 4:30pm. We arrived and were advised that the patio was not available as we had not indicated we wanted patio seating when we booked online. I advised her that there was no allowance on the Keg site to choose where to sit. She disagreed saying something about two sites and eventually left us there in the hot sun while she looked for the manager. She also said we should have asked for patio when booking as it is on their site. She would not accommodate us and we had to go home as we did not want to sit inside. I think they both dismissed us as we are seniors and probably unable to understand their website. At home I then went to Keg site again and booked 2 or 3 dates with no mention of seating anywhere! I also booked twice on Open Table but they do ask if we want STANDARD, BAR or HIGH TOP but nothing about patio seating! So your two employees were wrong and your website should be corrected and we should have been accommodated and not embarrassed. I went back on Open Table and booked next week at Buno Gusto and their site asked quite plainly "inside or patio" so we will make this restaurant our number one destination in Guelph in future. The service was so slow we didn't get our drinks even for half an hour and then our meal came an hour after that. Once our meal came the steak was so tough we couldn't even cut it. Three of us sent our steak back and after waiting another half an hour we walked our after telling the manager how upset we were. This is the first and only time I have ever walked out of a Keg. Another excellent dinner at the Keg, the food and service were excellent. An early New Years celebration with 3 friends and it was the perfect location. They did a great job with a food allergy concern first with the server acknowledging the issue and then with the manager personally confirming there would not be any issues with the food prep. He came a couple of times to follow up through out the dinner which is worth 5 stars alone. They have a new "mini" dessert section which allowed each of us to indulge in a small dessert. Called to make reservations and was told we couldn't unless we wanted to after 830-9pm So we decided to go in early hoping to get seats. We get there and met others waiting who had said they had called that day and made reservations that day! We had asked them what was going on they blamed a new girl for the issue. I then said well we have been sitting for over an 1 and a half hours waiting for seats you have let in lots of people why could we not get in they stated they all had reservations. The girl at front desk was as rude as could be the man working front desk was better to talk to. Very rude customer service and the food and drinks were extremely slow coming out might I add by the time we got in there was 8-10 empty tables! Will not return again! read more

Our friends offered to take us out to dinner and recommended The Keg. Around this time of year, I don't mind getting in front of the grille and cooking my own steak, but it's always nice to have a pro do it for me. :) Our visit was not without issues, however, but how the staff dealt with the issues is why this is a five-star review. Our server, Patrick, took our drink and appetizer orders; for the table, we ordered shrimp and calamari, and my one friend ordered a Caesar salad. His salad arrived a little late, and he said it didn't taste right; after allowing the rest of us a taste, we all concluded the salad had a strong vinegar taste. He sent it back, and Patrick let him know it wouldn't be on the bill. All four of us ordered steaks; I ordered my New York strip medium rare and the rest of the table ordered their blackened sirloins medium (guess I'm more of a carnivore). Our steaks arrived, and our other friend noted his was overcooked; it was well done. Patrick came by again and our friend let him know about the steak. He apologized profusely, seeing as this was the second problem from the kitchen for our table, and vowed to make it right. Shortly thereafter, Megan, the on-duty manager, visited our table and again apologized for the meal that night. She mentioned the cleaning process for the lettuce in the salad does involve vinegar, and the lettuce must not have been completely rinsed before the salad was prepared and served. As for the steak, she offered our other friend a completely new plate (including his side twice-baked potato), and let us know that both our friends' meals would be on the house, and she would provide dessert for the table. Aside from the salad snafu and the overcooked steak, the rest of the meal was wonderful. My steak was cooked to perfection, and the whiskey peppercorn sauce was delicious. For dessert, three of us had the Billy Miner pie, which looked HUGE but was not exceptionally heavy-feeling after a big steak dinner, and the other had a small crème brulée. As I said, there were some issues with the food, but Patrick and Megan made things more than right. Somewhere else, they may have just gotten another steak for my friend, but Patrick involved Megan to help make things right for us that evening. For a franchised Keg this was simply OK. While the food was decent and what I expected from a Keg it was the service that was horrible. I took my Dad on Saturday night before Father's Day and was told on the phone by some girl that I didn't need a reservation. When my Dad and I got to the Keg we waited almost 45 min to be seated while watching, at least, 50 other people get put in line ahead of us (even a table of 8!!!). When I complained to one of the FIVE scantily clad high heeled teenage girls at the entrance I was told there was nothing she could do. I complained again and all of a sudden a very large intimidating man (over 6 ft and 250 lbs) told me to wait my turn or leave. Since we had been there for 45 min we stayed and were seated 5 min later. The waiter at the table was OK but very inattentive - we waited over 30 min for bread and over an hour for food. All tolled we were at this Keg for over 2.5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!! Never again since there is a Montana's, Milestones, and Moxie's are all within a 5 min drive. read more
