Smells like heavenly chicken inside, staff is friendly and helpful enough, but I'm unimpressed by their lack of drink options - they carry THE most basic Coke products which is unacceptable. I've been craving fried chicken for like 3 weeks. And because I'm very good at talking myself out of junk food, I was able to effectively block the desire. Well, until it was 3 weeks later when my plane landed in Baltimore at 1 in the morning and it became so unbearable that I kindly asked the bf to stop at Royal Farms. Pros: The fried chicken is actually really good. Extremely salty though. Like top 5 saltiest things I've had in a long minute, but the chicken itself tasted great. I also really like the computer system that you enter your order because it makes it easy to see all of the options. Cons: We got a lot of attitude from the almighty chicken makers. There were already a few hungry, rowdy individuals (who were also possibly super high), waiting in line with us grabbing whatever the display case held. But Lily F. likes dark meat and so I was willing to wait for a fresh batch. When we placed our order the woman working behind the counter angrily sighed and barked, "It gon be 'bout 40 minutes! Ya'll gon wait?!" And when I upped the ante with a deadpan expression on my face and said I would, I could have sworn she lunged at me. Not only do I randomly yell out "It gon be 'bout 40 minutes!" to those around me now, but I have a deep appreciation for gas station fried chicken. And you know what, angry lady? It only took about 23 minutes! Don't try and pawn off that white meat on me! Other gas stations can relate to Lorde... because they'll never be Royal. This is a large, clean gas station that is open 24 hours on the south side of downtown Baltimore, right across from the casino and close to the Ravens Stadium and Orioles Park. The gas pumping part is excellent, but once you get inside, things go south. They have a great selection of things to buy but only one person serving about 25 people in line (and this has happened every single time I've been in, but granted all times were after dark, sometimes late at night). Anyway, it's my go to station in Baltimore because it's open, it's clean, it's fairly safe, it's right next to the interstate, and it's cheaper than a lot of local stations. We checked out this chain on our last trip from the northeast and enjoyed the "world famous" chicken. It was a pleasant surprise to see one across the street from the Greyhound station upon arrival. So on the way home we decided to pick up some tenders and wedges (so delicious) for the ride home. The coffee was fresh and they had non-dairy options (Silk almond milk, non-dairy flavored Creamer). The line was sort of long, but it moved quickly. A cashier was dry and didn't give me a bag but the gentleman who made the food were super nice plus they gave me a different type of bag to keep my food even fresher. If I come back through this way I will definitely pick up some delicious goods from Royal farms. read more

The chicken looks like crap this is the second Royal farms I've gone into besides the one downtown. the chicken always looks like the grease is dirty and it's been hurting my stomach when I've eaten there that's how I know they're using dirty grease or they're redipping it in Grease....I'm definitely going to try to reach out to their corporate office I've asked them cook chicken fresh chicken. What can I say about this amazing specimen of an institution. Cheap gas (petrol). Cheap tobacco. What else. Cheap-ass food. Typically, a 3-5 wait for the food (if it's taking any longer, maybe make sure that the computer delivered the order to the "cooks"). Competitively priced non-cheap things (like energy drinks). Hey, the bathrooms are free and clean (this is for the non-Americans). Easy parking. Just make sure you signal when you're turning off Russell into this lot, you jerk. Uhhhm, its 24 hours. Responsive cashiers. They ask me how I'm doing. They care a little. They even tell me when I missed random deals? Apparently they were giving out Camel Lights for $1.00 a pack recently. Worst customer service - Handling of food and preparation I ordered a 2 piece dark meat meal which suppose to come with a leg and thigh and fries, pulled thigh meat chicken sandwich and a hot dog. After I paid I went over to check to make sure my sandwich was done decent as I wanted it. As he handed me my sandwich I asked was it cheese on it. He replied "no you didn't ask for it". I then replied and said yes I did check your end because on my receipt it clearly reads cheese. So he flopped on a piece of cheese. After which, he tells me they ran out of thighs and offered an extra drumstick in place of the thigh or a breast. I don't eat white meat and that's not what I ordered. So I asked could you at least give me 2 legs cuz I'm looking at portion size not the number of pieces of chicken. So he asked his co worker, the "chicken police" could he do that she said yes and complained the whole time. Now I could have been nasty but I didn't. She kept saying next time charge for a three piece cuz it's three pieces of chicken. Which is true but cmon you giving me two little old drumsticks when I paid for a thigh and leg. Then he tried to put old fries in my box when there was fresh hot fries right next to the old ones. I'm like dude can I get fresh fries. Oh that fueled the chicken police she really didn't like that she started to tell him louder to charge for a extra piece of chicken. Very well-stocked convenience store, along with the Royal Farms fried chicken well love, or should love, for convenience store fried chicken. Their coffee selection is excellent; there are a billion different coffees to choose from along with every type of creamer and milk you can imagine. Royal farms is not customer based at all. We walked in to 6201 pulaski hwy pd cashier 100.00 advised of pump 23 .cashier punched in pump 22 another truck driver pulled up to pump 22 stole 100 in fuel. Driver goes in asks cashier why he's not getting fuel he states it's pumping now we advised its the wrong pump and fuel is being stolen. Meanwhile store declined to reimburse 100.00 or just replace fuel.driver still there on e. Truck never moved all this was confirmed by manager by looking at the camera. They still did not reimburse us nor did they fuel us up. We patronize this store daily with 500 to 750.00 in fuel every 24 hrs. I promise you this I will never patronize another ROYAL FARMS STORE AS LONG AS THE DAY I LIVE. I HOPE and PRAY EVERyone really watch the receipts and store policy. After finally getting the district Mgr on the phone they offered to split the 100 until they get in touch with the thief. read more

This is the Royal Farms across the street from Horseshoe Casino. Since the food inside the casino is very expensive, close to airport food level, there are many casino patrons going here to get food throughout the night. Especially during night time, the checkout line is extremely long with only 1 cashier. Food is good, 4 stars! - consistent Royal Farms quality with the Western Fries and Chicken Tenders. They do a decent job to keep the place clean despite the volume of customers. However, due to its clientele from the casino, one does not feel too safe here, despite an armed security guard present. The environment is loud and obnoxious, with may shouting matches happening probably from the alcohol and/or drugs the customers have taken. read more

The coffee is great. The fried chicken is old and stale, the western fries were soggy and the prices are over the TOP.

If we need to get gas, this is usually where we end up since the Baltimore streets can get confusing. I don't like coming after dark and avoid it as much as possible. There are aggressive pan handlers that will approach us while pumping gas. We make our visits as brief as possible. Stay alert, even in the daytime. read more

Eh, what you can say? It's a Royal Farms. Plenty of chicken, plenty of drinks, plenty of quick food options if you're in a hurry, plenty of gas to fill up your car with. My mother (otherwise known in our little Yelp world as "Carrie's Momma"), however, cannot stop RAVING about their made-to-order subs at this particular location. Apparently, the one time we took her here during an errand day, they made her a roast beef wrap that imprinted itself on her brain with such zeal, she now can't stop talking about it and requests that we bring her one constantly. We do occasionally run into some service issues at this location because the cooks are so overwhelmed with orders that they take a long... long... long... long time. But the food has always been quite good here, so we don't mind a short wait. There is a bit of an issue here with unsavory looking characters hanging outside the doors and in the parking lot, but they won't bother you if you don't bother them. The neighborhood is sort of "in-between" - not exactly the safest area on the planet, but it's not totally sketch, either. This one's on very busy Russell Street, so a lot of the traffic comes from everywhere, but it is on the edge of a small residential area. The store IS very clean, however. I think it's partially because it was recently built, but the upkeep is usually quite good when I stop in. A decent option if you need gas, drinks, chicken, or a memorable, to-die-for, please-bring-your-old-momma-one-of-those roast beef wraps. read more

3.0 stars "Best Fired Chicken!" I've heard this claim from multiple friends, and I decided to finally give Royal Farms' friend chicken a chance. I split the 8-piece dark meat (4 thigh, 4 drumstick) pack with my wife for $8.99. What a deal! After ordering at the kiosk and paying at the cashier, I was handed a piping hot bag of fried chicken. The chicken was out-of-this-world juicy. I might venture to say it was the juiciest piece of chicken I've ever had! I'm not sure how they do it, if there is a special brine or injection, but I can't emphasize enough how juicy it was! Unfortunately, the chicken was also extremely salty and oily. I couldn't tolerate how salty it was after finished a piece of chicken! The oil caused the chicken skin to become slightly soggy at certain bits too. Overall, the fried chicken at Royal Farms is noteworthy, especially considering it is from a gas station. Its price is also unbeatable and makes a great deal! I'm not sure I will get it again in the future given how salty and oily it was, but I'm glad to have tried it and was happily surprised. read more

So I stopped at royal farm omw to the highway to get home. How do you not have wings or tenders? Then my daughter ordered the waffle bowl that comes with a leg and she ordered an extra thigh. When we got the order it was missing the extra thigh and they had no syrup. She went back in and she had to wait for more chicken and they had NO syrup! When I checked my box I ordered the $5 box with a thigh and a leg well my box had two thighs now I know what you're thinking why is she complaining about two thighs. Went into the store to purchase a few items and Mega Million ticket. One cashier with a steady line was on duty and she called an additional cashier over to help. When I got to the register, she would not do the $5 Quick Pick purchase but said I had to go to a separate register, which was unmanned and wait there. Doesn't make sense to me and I made my lottery purchase at a competitor later in the day. My purchase was for 5.xx and I gave her a $20. She started to give me 14 brand new singles. When I complained she said she would get larger bills but it would take time. She then pulled large bills out of her register and deposited them in the safe, which did take time, and finally pressed the button for the $10 bill for me. I did not appreciate having to wait for her to make a deposit nor being told, for the first time in my memory, that I had to go to a separate register to make a quick pick lottery purchase. She had a poor attitude during the whole transaction, was not friendly or welcoming at all. The store manager should also be more aware of the lines when the store is busy. Nice new store but the customer service is lacking ... which is becoming more and more common at Royal Farm stores. read more
