Believe it or not, this is my first time stopping in at a Royal Farms. After my friend had me drive all the way out to Gaithersburg for an Estate sale that was nonexistent I was almost on empty. Then we passed Royal Farms... Gas was an unprecedented $3.39 a gallon! (For future reference, this was when the average price was $3.79/gallon.) You better believed I filled my tank! My pal went in the shop and was gone a rather long time, so I had to go track her down. While in there I decided to buy some potato wedges and spicy cheese sauces. Both were really, really good! The wedges were crispy, not at all soggy as if they were sitting out all day. The cheese dipping sauce was tasty. So, I can say I am a fan. Less than 24 hours after a grand opening should not be drastic, but it was indeed shocking considering the cleanliness and maintenance of the men's restroom. I arrived around 9:30 PM and the men's room had very noticeable dried fecal stains on the floor. The toilet lid was already loose as if it had been used for years. This is the scene one might expect from the bathroom in a dingy random gas station, not a brand new Royal Farms. In fact, the bathroom was the dirtiest I've ever encountered at a Royal Farms. The trash can in the outdoor dining area was also full and overflowing with trash. That being said, the staff preparing the food worked super hard and my orders were called after a short wait despite my order number being way down on the queue list. The food was great, the spicy chicken tenders were huge and were spicier than Popeyes. I hope they improve the cleanliness as I really look forward to being a frequent regular here. read more

The bar for gas stations and their food is pretty low but this location meets it. Their were plenty of charging stations at 1 in the afternoon. The chicken and waffles sandwich was fast and exactly what I wanted. Nobody was loitering outside asking for money or smoking. It's a decent place to charge up your EV. read more

This is a review of their fried chicken. I placed a mobile order for my 8 piece fried chicken mixed around 4:45 pm and when I got to the store, 20 minutes later, I had to wait an extra 20-25 minutes. There must have 6 other mobile orders for the same. Would give it four stars if it wasn't for long long wait. On the positive note, at least the chicken just came out of the fryer and was still piping hot when I got home. It wasn't dry and good amount of flour to make a good crispy crust. I'm happy that we have a RF in MOCO. Gas prices are lower here than others in the area. Now, Im disappointed that this place is about 2 months old and it looks dirty. Smh. Bathroom was a disappointment. Ive been to other locations and this was the worse as far as cleanliness and we are still dealing with the pandemic. They have good snacks. Lots of chips, and candies to choose from. They have a delicious donut case, I believe they are from Krispy Kreme. Get em in the morning. Employees here are nice, and somewhat pleasant. Cashiers get you in and out. The Famous fried Chicken: I give it 2 out of 5. Way too salty and breaded. Sometimes it can be sitting and it doesn't taste so good. The Dutch Market in Germantown has better Chicken. I'm disappointed because other locations made theirs better. I hope they improve. I always feel torn about 'gas station food' -- I know it's in my head and is basically like any other fast food, but I'm picky about which Sheetz, Wawas, and Royal Farms I'm willing to get food from the same way there are Taco Bells, Mc Donald's, and Burger Kings I do or don't trust [I understand this point will resonate or not so just know that's where I'm coming from with this.] I was excited for a new Royal Farms cause in my mind new = clean at least for a certain amount of time. That being said, I've come here a handful of times since the end of summer and the overall store is kept clean, while the soda fountain area could always use more attention. The kitchen area is visible enough, but also spaced enough from the walking area, that I feel confident in it's cleanliness. They seem to do a fair amount of business around the clock too at this location, so I've always been able to get fresh chicken. Had an unfortunate wait once: seemed a couple of huge orders came in and it would have been nice to serve the small orders for those of us waiting there, while we watched bag after bag get filled, like the whole counters worth. 20 minutes later I got my 2 drumsticks. Super fresh, but like, yikes also. Quality wise, I wouldn't put it above a sit-down restaurant like Hershey's fried chicken per se, but for fast food chicken I feel like it's grown up KFC? Like I have always wanted to like KFC style to switch it up from Popeyes (my fried chicken of choice), but KFC always disappoints me. I was excited to hear that royal farms is in our area. Tonight a ran in for a family meal. The store is nice and clean as it has been open for less then a week. As I was about to checkout for me of the employees dropped an F bomb and who appeared to be the manager on duty sort of looked who it was and shook his head. Not sure how that's going to pan out... Anyways got a 16 piece family meal. Walked out with what was my order. To get home and notice a large side and chicken missing. So I paid 50$ for a 12 piece, 2 large cheese fries and a box of rolls. I heard the fried chicken at Royal Farms was all that and then some so I stopped in after getting gas. I ordered a one piece chicken breast with gravy as the dipping sauce (my friend asked me to compare it to Joliibee) so that I did. My order came with a dinner roll and your choice of side so I went with potato wedges. The chicken was juicy on the inside but the skin was super salty! I had high hopes with the gravy but it was just okay. I enjoyed the potato wedges but I really wish the chicken was less salty. This location recently opened and the inside could use some cleaning. The wait for my food (it's self-check out by the way) wasn't that long which was good. I noticed a small smoothie vending machine which I'll be trying during my next visit. First morning after opening day and I wanted to try it. It wasn't overly crowded with ample parking around the shop and it was not cluttered inside. Since it's new everything was clean and well put together. There are also seats available outside to eat if you wanted to. Coffee: there were several coffee stations as I didn't need to wait to use any of the coffee machines. Be mindful of what coffee cup you pick up so that you know what selection to make to fill your cup. There is also a sugar/creamer station near the coffee that was near and well organized. I can potentially see how messy it will get with more utilization. Overall the coffee was good! Food: my boyfriend overheard a manager say that they ran out of chicken pretty quick last night and there were about 50 people, so we opted to get a pre-made breakfast Sandwhich to save time. However if you have time to wait there is a whole chicken hot bar where the employees help you or you can use a self serve kiosk to personalize your sandwhiches. When your order is ready they will call your number at the hot bar. We got a spicy chicken sandwhich with pickles and a hash brow. They were pretty good and even had nutritional labels on them. Would come back to try more items. Other snacks: I love that there is a whole Krispy Kreme selection for donuts, not a big selection but it's great. All sorts of snacks and quick things to pick up around the shop, although I would say it's a bit pricey compared to other gas stations. At least I can get my Cheetos here. read more

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!! Keeping in mind that this is literally my first time going to Royal Farms, this may be a normal thing to them, however, I just want to warn people about MY experience. I have seen their ads on Facebook and Instagram and decided to give them a try due to the positive reviews that I had read and the fact that they claimed to be Real Fresh and Real Fast.... WHAT A CROCK When I first walked in, the smell of fried chicken was definitely the only thing that I could smell. I was excited to place my order but realized that I had to use a computer to do it. That's NOT an issue since I've done it at McDonald's before. After selecting my meal and sides (3pc/ 1 breast, 2 wings, small mashed potatoes, and gravy and a small mac n cheese ), I found out that I had to pay before I picked up my order and so I went ahead and got a bottle of juice and paid at the self check-out. The guy behind the register walked me through the process of scanning my order ticket and juice. He was a nice and helpful person. Here's where things get weird. When I got home, I took everything out of the bag, and the first thing that I saw was that the Mac and cheese tub had 2 stickers on it with 2 different use by dates. 1 was for the 27th of February, and the other was for today. YES, the Mac and cheese were 2 DAYS OLD! That could be why it tasted off, with absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The mashed potatoes also, had no flavor, and the gravy that came with it, didn't help at all. In fact, the gravy was the star of the meal due to the fact that it had flavor and was hot. As a matter of fact, it was the best gravy I've had in a long time. The chicken had flavor and a little crunch to it, but it also had a little kick of spice on the back end. My only issues with the chicken was the size of the pieces, and they weren't exactly fresh as advertised. They were all tiny as if they killed a baby chicken. The wings were a joke, and the so-called breast looked like a thigh. Seriously, take a piece of their chicken and compare it to the size of Popeye's or KFC's and you'll see what I mean. Overall, I might give them another try, especially if they contact me to fix the issues mentioned above. Until then, though, it's going to have to be a HARD NO for me. My food ranking for this order: 1st Place - Roasted chicken gravy (fresh & hot, STAR OF MEAL... which is sad) 2nd Place - 3pc Chicken Meal (tasted fine, not exactly fresh, tiny pieces) 3rd Place - Mashed potatoes (no flavor) 4th Place - Mac N Cheese (2 DAYS OLD!!!!!) Free air for the hot days fluctuating tire pressure and Tesla ev charging for our EV friends. There's also a car wash. I go for the snacks. The gas lot is usually pretty full so be careful when pulling in. The attendants are generally friendly and they say the chicken is pretty good. I really like this new addition of the royal farms. I especially love getting a cheap and tasty coffee from their self serve coffee machines that are a lot more high tech than expected. They have the actual beans so they aren't the artificial self serve coffee machines. The self check out is great as well since you can get in and get out quite quickly. Also I find their gas prices to be good compared to the rest of the area. Also have a self serve lottery ticket machine for scratch offs and inputting lottery cards if you are interested in that. read more

This place needs new management. I went there one time and there was trash all over the lot. ALL the trash cans at the gas pumps were overflowing. Also someone in management thinks he is saving money by not providing any bags. We all know Montgomery County charges 5 cents for bags but some genius there keeps the bags in the back so you have to ask for one. Of course no one is available to get you t. The chicken prep people are too busy talking to each other and there is no one at the checkout. Royal Farms is a wonderful addition for upper MoCo, but this location needs some assistance from Regional Management. Someone needs to be always be cleaning to keep the drink areas clean and stocked (today at 3 pm it was not. The potato wedges were cut thinner and looked/tasted dry. The chicken pieces were smaller then usual. Could be what they are getting from suppliers, but if so -- this chicken isn't worth the price. I Gave 1 star because Ihad to give something to continue. Let me tell you the only thing about this place that's any good is the ice that comes out of the machine. We tried their world famous chicken and it tasted like the oil was not changed in 3 days. Rancid tasting oil. Then just now after work I wanted a pint of Ice cream. I picked up B&'J's Americone Dream. The tag in the freezer said 6.99. When I got it to the self scan register it rang up 7.99. This has happened to me before and the nice young man was able to fix the price for me. This time I was told the person who was in charge of overrides was not there so if I wanted it, that's the price I would have to pay. 8.00 and change. I do not for one minute believe that. But the guy sure knew how to cancel the item on the screen. I go back and get a different brand which cost 4.99 and sure enough it rang up 5.99. This store does the old bait and switch. I left the ice cream there and as I walked out told them they were getting over on people. Dont go here. Gas pumps always have receipt fail so you have to go inside to get one printed if you bought a car wash. Then you are told the car wash isn't working. If they know this why not put a sign up at the pump or not sell a car wash at the pump when they know they can't honor the sale? The entire experience is made worse by the person in the store having an attitude about printing you a receipt! read more

Not great! I'm from the Baltimore area and they need to send in some folks from over there, to this location. They really need assistance to get this one together! The staff looks completely overwhelmed, bathrooms are filthy. The computer ordering screens were locked up. Very long wait times for food. My experience here wasn't the best.. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese breakfast croissant. I ordered through the touchscreen and Had selected for my sandwich to be toasted... However it was not toasted and I did not realize until I got to work. It was cold...It's not the biggest deal but it is annoying because I did select the toasted option. The coffee bar was a little messy but tasted good. I was shocked to enter the restroom at this location and find no toilet paper. The lady behind the counter was nice and directed an employee to get some. After taking care of my upset stomach I was even more shocked that the fancy soap dispenser was empty (era of disease??) so I ask my little girl to go to the women's room to get some for me.
