This is probably the last time I will go there I went there I think about a week ago because of a funeral,there were at least 16 people who went with us there and we paid. Food was decent. Went 2x because my husband loves the food. I probably won't be going back, unfortunately both times I at there it sent me running to the toilet. My stomach was messed up for the rest of the day. Dessert section is mediocre, no ice cream like stated in other posts. Mostly Save A Lot cakes that the slices and took out of the plastic. I took my 10 year old daughter and her friend to the Royal Buffet in Boardman to eat dinner tonight because they both wanted Chinese. First and foremost the restaurant was not busy this evening. However the service was horrible. We literally waited 15 minutes before the waitress came to the table after we were seated to bring our drinks. Then I waited 30 minutes after we were finished eating for the waitress to bring our ticket. When she never brought it, I finally got up and walked to the front counter so we could pay and leave. Then the cashier and the hostess both called me a liar when I told them that my daughter and her friend were 10 years old and refused to give me the child rate. They wanted me to provide proof of their age. Both my daughter and her friend stated their birthdays without fault because they are in fact 10 year old 5th graders. Regardless the cashier told me that there was no way that either of them were 10 and I had to pay the adult buffet rate for them. I thought this was horrendous because the two of them most definitely did not eat $24 worth of food. So if you eat here with kids, I suggest you take a copy of their birth certificate with you. I don't usually post anything negative but I was so upset and disappointed in the way were were treated this evening at this restaurant. Needless to say I will NEVER dine there again. I have visited this restaurant a couple times and I can truly say that each experience is just delightful. They have a wide variety of food to choose from and not all of it is Chinese. My family and I absolutely love this buffet. We are from NY, so we are picky about our Chinese food. I never wouldve thought to go here-- I like to introduce my sister to different cuisines, but I saw the reviews on yelp, and we decided to take a chance on a place that is literally 5minutes away from her house, yet we have passed by over the years without stopping. *** best buffet ever!! I've never had the opportunity to do the Mongolian stir fry because there's too many options on the regular lines and sushi lines. Sushi chefs are constantly making fresh items as fast as pieces are being taken. I can't get enough of the coconut shrimp and general tso's and sesame chickens. Many different chicken preparations, rice/noodle dishes, american food for picky children (pizza, fries, etc) plus strip steak. They have a large dessert section including many tubs of ice cream plus a nearby line has fruits and puddings. Honestly, find the chinese donouts and use it as the base for an ice cream "sundae". Food is always hot, place is clean, and the service is exceptional. I really want to thank Jin. My 3 year old nephew Jaxon was very fussy during our visit, but he absolutely adored her, and would stop crying whenever she was around. read more

Most consistently-good Chinese buffet I've EVER known in the Youngstown area. They have enough turnover to always be quite fresh. Food is actually HOT, and doesn't have that "5-hour-old" taste. The sushi rolls are as good as you're going to get for a buffet, and there's plenty of ginger and wasabi. It's quite clean. The always-present manager is as friendly as you could ask for--I've probably been there 15 times and he addresses me like we're friends. The price is totally reasonable and I get multiple $1.00/$1.50-off coupons in the mail almost weekly. I pay about $9.00 for a dinner that's worth nearly double that. All manner of standard chicken dishes, egg and spring rolls, hibachi grill, great salad and dessert bars, typical shrimp, mushroom, fish and beef dishes... and occasional exotic options. You simply can't beat this place for the price. It's not a 5-star restaurant, but it's EASILY a 5-star buffet. read more

I rarely write reviews.. especially if I'm not happy but I'm seriously SO annoyed I can't just not say something.. we've been going here for years and tonight (mind you my daughter is the size of my 14 year old step daughter but she's only 10..) the waitress gave us a hard time about her age.. asked my daughter for her birthday and then when we were leaving the guy behind the counter (I'm assuming is the manager or owner) in an accusatory tone seriously told us we had to bring in her birth certificate to prove her age! Also he did this in front of other customers.. We did NOT lie about her age and I'd take a pic of her birth certificate and post it here just to prove it but I will be going up there tomorrow with her and her birth certificate and then tell them to go screw themselves.. To make us feel like this over what can only be like a dollar difference, (if that even.. I have no clue..) is ridiculous.. he could have done that differently like come to our table and talk to us or I dunno maybe believe his customers when they tell him their kids ages.. I'm beyond irritated that I don't even want to go to one of my favorite Chinese buffets anymore except to go in and prove that we weren't lying and then go somewhere else to eat. Good food for the price as far as buffets go. Sushi can be somewhat inconsistent freshness during times of lower customer volume, so go during peak lunch/dinner times if that is what you have a taste for. read more

gone here today it was great food very nice how ever, I did find some of the food to be cold thought and told one of the waiters he gone and replaced the cold food with freshly cooked food with that said they do great customer service and try they best to give good service will be eating here at royal grill again. read more

We went out to lunch today here . The woman behind the sushi bar was apparently having an awful day , picked sushi up with her bare hand and literally threw it on to my nine year olds plate , resulting in a big scene and upsetting my daughter tremendously! I went to speak to management , he refused to give me his name and acted like nothing happened , told me to wait at the front desk he would go talk to the woman but instead went over to where my daughter was sitting and started yelling in her face. We asked that this rude woman give my daughter an apology, walked over to our table with her hands on her hips , said sorry to my daughter very rudely and walked away . My daughter finished her food real quick and we got our check and got up to leave , this "management" had a fit that we were dining and dashing , which obviously wasn't the case , I was taking her to the car because she was upset and dad went to talk about our bill ? Why pay 40 dollars for a meal for 3 people when we were literally in this building for no more than 15 minutes max , 2 adults not eating because we were so mad and my daughter ate some jello and was humiliated. Will absolutely never step in that dumpy establishment again . Will be contacting the better business borough and whoever else needs to know how they run this establishment. Everyone that worked in that building for the small amount of time we were there, they were extremely rude and poor indications of what type of human being they truly are . read more

Dishes are always dirty/greasy.. I have to fumble through 9 or 10 plates just to get a clean one and I have a party of 3 when I dine in.. I liked to eat at the grill but the chef is a complete sociopath.. You take your plate to him and say hello and he ignores you & if you ask for any specific cooking time, he again ignores you or tells you how he will cook it.. I tried something different one day and tipped him before getting my food grilled, and his personality was very receptive and he was talkative.. I guess his undivided attention is for sale.. Mind you we've been going to this establishment for 2 years now with no problems and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves up until now. Furthermore, the waitresses are great except one girl we forgot to get her name, but she twice now has treated us as though we were not even there.. Plates would accumulate on our table, our drinks would go unattended and the last straw was tonight when we repeatedly requested our table be cleaned and our drinks refilled, that waitress ignored us 4 times laughed at us, we then went to the front to complain and the manager understood and stated that she will be cooperative but to no avail and told us were were too sensitive when we complained again.. I've never been treated with such complete disregard in all my outings and I won't allow it to happen again.. This was my last time at this place & I encourage others to relinquish their patronage from this place too. read more
