Best Buy's execution online, in-store, and on the phone ceases to amaze me. The other day, a client of mine experienced a brownout that impacted the electronics at his residence. Microsoft CoPilot had a partial solution, Amazon had most of it, and Best Buy had the solution that its competitors did not. I ordered the product online and had it shipped to my client's address. On a final note, the store staff gave me options for a TV and a soundbar. The associate mentioned a sale, and I purchased it after examining all the TVs at the physical store. Went here for an iPhone repair and to buy a new toaster. Service at the Geek Squad was super fast and the staff member (Deangelo) was really knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Another staff member helped us look up the toasters that they had on hand. Everybody was really nice and helpful and they didn't try to over-pressure us or upsell us on things we didn't need. I ordered a new dishwasher from this store, scheduled an appointment to have it installed and delivered, and rearranged my schedule so I would be home all day during the 12-hour window provided. I never received the promised communication the day before to narrow down the delivery and the dishwasher never showed up. Customer service directed me to make a new appointment. Do not order anything valuable from Best Buy for delivery. They used Door Dash for a laptop, Door Dash's confirmation receipt showed a picture of a box that was obviously not a laptop. I have the video of the Door Dasher, he never enters our building with anything that could have been our package. Best Buy's follow-up on this was awful. Long phone waits and robotic agents if you can even figure out how to get one on the phone. Ultimately, got a refund by reversing the credit card charges. I went to this store 3 times for one issue and it was just terrible. I got an expensive laptop from Best Buy online open box, and they sent me the wrong laptop. I call these locations customer service and am told they have one in stock, and I can exchange but won't hold it for me. I head down right away and am told to wait by the Windows desk. I stood there for literally 30 minutes with no help. At least 10 employees walked past me, of the 3 I waved down like an air traffic controller- 2 asked If I had been helped and then spoke into their radio and walked away and one completely ignored me. Finally, a girl came to the counter, and she was rude and completely disinterested in helping me. In the hour it took me to get to the store the laptop they wouldn't hold form me is out of stock. I ask to speak to a manger. The manager comes up quickly, he passed me multiple times during my wait without even noticing me. He doesn't even look at me and starts talking to the girl and I explain the situation. He verifies the laptop is out of stock and tells me I can return it, and they can order me a new one. I assume I will get a match for what I paid for my original order since Best Buy sent the wrong item and it's their mistake. No, I have to buy it for more than $200 more! Mind you it was already a $2,500 order. I tell him this is unacceptable, and he gives me the corporate customer service number to call and assures me they will take care of me. I spent 2 days on the phone with a dozen people, even supervisors. I started with the corporate number, but it goes to India, and not only could I not understand either person I spoke to, even at the supervisor level they are clearly reading a script and have no agency to actually provide service. I then called the South Loop customer service 8 more times since at least I can speak to someone domestically. Of course, it's still outsourcing and not someone at the location. Eventually the last 3 times in a row I called the agents saying I would get an exchange and its Best Buys fault, but they need to transfer me, and I got disconnected each time, only to then have to start from scratch with another person. It happened like clockwork it wasn't a mistake. Then the last guy told me the other 3 don't know what they are talking about, and I can't get an exchange only return. So, I go back to this location and return the incorrect laptop and rebuy it, at this point the new version is only $80 more than the open box excellent and I do not trust them anymore, so I get the new one. I do not think it's crazy to be offered a price match or gift card to lower the cost back to what I paid, do you? Instead between increased city taxes, increased price on the laptop and warranty and 3 round trip sets of Ubers to the store I spent $400 of my own money to make this mistake right on top of having to wait an extra week for a laptop I need for work and all of my time and stress spent. I spoke to the same manager again and he went on about how he is a customer first and he's going above and beyond for me... well at no point was I given a price match or even a gift card to bring the cost down to what I originally paid. Even if you subtract the Ubers and upgrade to the new, it cost me $220 to get the exact same thing I ordered online the week prior. He said again if you purchased it from my store I would take care of you no problem, but you got it online so it's a corporate problem and not my problem.... As a customer of Best Buy I make NO distinction between a store and the website. I was screwed with no integrity, accountability or customer service from Best Buy. He proceeds to attached the port to a charger, which short circuited, making the problems worse. Then stated I should use HP directly because it's under their HP's care plan. I want to blame the first employee who exclaimed "I'm so tired of looking for stuff". I want to blame the second employee who just stopped looking for my item and started helping another guest. But when I take a moment to think about it, this is a process problem, not a people problem. The order pickup process here is clearly broken if three of your employees can't find a 65-inch TV. Best Buy, please consider your employee and customer experience and fix the way you do things. I scheduled an order for pickup so it would be quick and easy. Always long lines and today I walked in with straight to get me ink got in line an associate said we should go to the front register because this one was busy with a credit card application. So we said thanks and went to the front registers but they had over a dozen people waiting in line. So we decided to go back to the original register where there was no waiting except the guy taking the application. We're there waiting then a manager comes and tells us we need to be in a queue. We look at each other, what queue? We are told when you came in the store if you are purchasing something you are to be put on a queue. Well no one masked us anything except giving us advice that the person at the register may take a bit longer due to the application. Well she the manager refused to let us go next even though there was no one else in line with us. She like I can add you to the queue if you want to make a purchase. During Thanksgiving, I was originally happy to see Best Buy's Trade-In Promotion for the new iPhone 13 Mini and the promotional value they offered for the iPhone X was awesome (about ~$400). That's about the only thing awesome about this whole thing. I went through the Best Buy website to trade in the phone. Please see the screenshot below. As part of the online trade-in process, they ask for the phone specs and TWO additional questions: (1) Does your phone turn on, and (2) Is your SCREEN cracked. Both of which were non-issues for my phone so I proceeded with the trade-in. Fast forward 2 days later, I go to the store to pick up the new IPhone 13 Mini and give them my iPhone X to complete the trade-in. The clerk tells me, "Sorry but your phone does not match the condition you statted online. We're going to need to cancel your order" WHAT?!? When I ask what about my phone does not match what I stated, they said - there is a crack on the back of the phone which I did not disclose online. I then proceed to pull up their website to show them that NOWHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE DO THEY ASK ABOUT THE BACK OF THE PHONE. Only if it turns on and if the SCREEN was cracked. Regardless, they canceled the order and proceeded to start a new trade-in to show reflect the damage of the phone and said they can offer $100. 75% less than what they offered online. I told them that was BS and very misleading to pull a switch-up like that and asked to speak with the GM who agreed it was their fault and they'll honor the original amount. If this transaction had ended here, I would have been happy despite the mix-up but happy that Best Buy honored its word. INSTEAD, this is what happened: because Best Buy canceled the Upgrade Order that was already processed, my line already showed that there was a "Pending Upgrade" transaction and I am unable to submit another trade-in despite that Transaction/order already being canceled. Best Buy's response: "Oh just give the system a few days and it will update. You'll be fine." That was on Nov-26. Today is Jan-11 - 46 days after the fact and still no change. I've since spent 40+ hours on the phone with Best Buy and TMobile CR reps to resolve this issue. Best Buy has offered 0 help. They've stated on MULTIPLE CALLS that it's not their problem or issue since our system shows your order is canceled, but TMobile states that their system still shows the original upgrade as "pending" and never got an update from Best Buy that this has been canceled. In Summary: 1. Best Buy tried to lower the value of trade-in based on questions not asked on the website and lower trade-in value by 75% 2. After acknowledging they F**ked up, my phone line has been "locked" because it still shows as a "pending upgrade" which Best Buy claims is not their issue - despite the fact that THEY WERE THE ONES THAT CAUSED THIS MESS 3. My line is now not eligible for an upgrade due to a Best Buy system hold that shows my line as already upgrade pending 3. As of today (47 days after the date of the incident), and over 40+ hours of calls with Best Buy and TMobile customer service reps, no change has been made and Best Buy still is unwilling to help claiming its not their issue. So in summary, F**K Best Buy. F their whole family. F their baby mama. F their affiliates, and F you if you like them. read more

I want to share a terrible experience I had this bestbuy.com and then this store, and suggest that you take your business elsewhere. I ordered a new phone from bestbuy.com because it was offering free next day delivery and I needed the phone quickly. The next day the phone shipped (was never going to arrive the next day, but oh well) and then was promptly lost by FedEx. That happens, not yet Best Buy's fault. I called Best Buy's customer service and their solution was to have a replacement sent to me the next day. Well, the next day, it hadn't shipped yet (again), so upon the advice of yet another customer service rep, I changed the delivery method to "same day" in-store pickup at this South Loop location. Several hours later, shortly before the store closed and with no "your order is ready" email, I called customer service again, where a representative told me that I could just go into the store and speak to a manager, who could immediately fulfill the item since they had it in stock. She assured me I would not be wasting my time in doing so. So I went in and spoke with the manager who said there's nothing he can do until "Corporate" releases it, even though I'd paid for the item and he had them in stock. He advised me to call customer service again, which I did while in the store. The rep said there's nothing she can do, but if I wait a couple of hours, it should be ready. So I did. Still nothing. The in-store manager was helpless to do anything about the situation. The next day, still nothing, so I finally canceled the order. Here I am a week later, having paid Best Buy for an item they couldn't give me due to "system limitations", and still without a phone. And they won't issue my refund until the "investigation" of the package that FedEx lost is complete, which can take "7 days or more." This is not how to run a business, guys.​ read more

My previous experiences with Best Buy have been satisfactory. However, when attempting to replace my washer/dryer unit, I endured the worst customer service I've experienced since RCN took over the city. This was my first time buying and installing an appliance with Best Buy, and will not do so again. I am writing this review to help prevent others from suffering the same endless misery. Everything about the service went well initially. At the end of the installation (at approximately 8:30 am), they set both the washer and dryer to run empty cycles, and they told me that once those cycles were complete, I could use the appliance with actual laundry. Unfortunately, the connection between the hose and the unit itself was not installed properly, and water sprayed both into the holes in the back of the brand new unit and onto my wooden floors. ***This is the part that I consider unacceptable.*** Recognizing the issue with installation, I immediately called Best Buy (roughly 2 hours after their departure). After speaking with three different individuals, I was told that "nothing could be done" until the truck that had delivered the unit returned to the warehouse, because that's the only way the "system could update the order status to 'delivered'". No manual override. No way for anyone to help correct the mistake that their team made. I had to wait until the next day to call back and schedule a replacement delivery and installation. Meanwhile, a flooding restoration company was called to attempt to save my wooden floors. Loud, expensive, and scary for my puppies, but hopefully it prevented the need to replace my floors. ***This is another layer of unacceptable customer service.*** When I called the next day, the earliest appointment to replace the affected unit and install a new unit was 18 days later. I was expected to go another almost 3 weeks without laundry facilities in my apartment for a mistake that they made. Three calls later and I finally connected with someone who could schedule an appointment to replace and install a new unit 4 days later. This was an unnecessarily frustrating process and a horrid example of customer service. I will avoid using Best Buy in the future, and I strongly recommend that you do, too. read more

A friend went to pick it up (I did not receive an email but tried calling the store, too, and no one ever picks up and then they transfer the call to a call center and they have no info and can do nothing) and an employee told him it was "in the warehouse but no one is picking up the phone back there so come back." Excuse me? So now I paid for the order and no one can tell me an ETA or if it's even going to be ready at all. Again, no one picks up the phone at this store and the call center was absurd, repeating the same info I can see online. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. Early July 2021, my husband took his computer that was three months old to Best Buy on Roosevelt Rd because it had a vertical line running down the screen. Geek Squad refused to service it even with our tech support subscription. When he tried to speak to a manager about the issue, the manager was dismissive. He took it to North Ave location and got the service expected. Three weeks later my son went to the Roosevelt Rd location and the techs were so incompetent he pretty much had to service the computer himself while standing in the store. The Roosevelt Rd location is the closest to our home, but I hope they follow suit of other retailers and close the doors to this store. The products they sell are sold everywhere. So if you are not offering a unique product, you need to offer good customer service to keep people coming to your location. If you can't do that and you feel like the problems can be dismissed by a shoulder shrug, maybe unemployment will better serve you. read more

Purchase 1 (Jan 2.2023): I ordered an open box-excellent dell laptop to be picked up at bestbuy in Bloomingdale's, IL. I live in Chicago so I drove 45 minutes (there and back) to pick it up. When I got home I discovered that the box with the laptop came with nothing but the laptop... no charger or original attachments. I called the customer service and the store, then drove back to Bloomingale to pick up a charger, checked to see if it worked (it did), then went back to Chicago. After plugging in the laptop for a bit I got a prompt saying it was Not the original charger and that it would take longer to charge (which it did). After seeing that I called customer service and the store again. They didn't have any of the original hardware that came with the laptop available anywhere... which is NOT what was described in "Open box- excellent" category. So I returned it for a full refund, searched around, and bought the new version of the same laptop Purchase 2 (Jan 6, 2023): So now I have the new version of the previous laptop and begin installing some of the software I purchased and whatever came with the purchase. This included a 3 month subscription to Adobe Creative. I got an email with instructions on how to download which came with a code to use when downloading. It did NOT work. Not only that, the emailed said the code would expire Nov 30, 2022... mind you I purchased Jan 6, 2023. I called customer service who tried a different code which didn't work. They said that I had to wait up to 48 hours to get a new code. After 4 days I got a new email with the SAME EXPIRED CODE. I spent another 45 minutes trouble shooting with bestbuy on the phone which include me codes and them remoting in to my laptop to try different codes directly. None of them worked. They said I had to go to geek squad in person to get a new code. I scheduled an appointment 2 days later, showed up to geek squad who said they can't issue new codes and to talk to a store manager. The store manager told me the same and that I have to call customer service AGAIN. So I call them, get transferred 3 times over 45 minutes and the call gets disconnected. I'm so frustrated because it's a simple install but I've wasted so much time trying to get someone to resolve the issue. At every step, it seems that bestbuy is false advertising on the product they're selling. I can't seem to get what I paid for even on new products. This store is so amazing. This is my go to Best Buy when I'm in the city. The employees are so nice and helpful. Today I visited this location as I was picking up a laptop. I was helped by Bianca, and she was so nice. My pick up store item was ready in less than an hour. I was so excited to finally recieve the laptop that I've been wanting to purchase for some time now. I love that this location has free parking, and is apart of a vertical shopping center. The store is in the same building/shopping center of a few other great stores. I usually hit up best buy for all of my electronics and music needs. This has been my go to store since my college years. I don't know what I would do if Best Buy were to go out of business. I've bought my first radio from Best Buy. I bought tons and tons of cds from this store. I'm hoping that this business will continue to have the best and up to date electronics. read more

Came in looking for a particular Xbox controller and spent about 45 minutes in this store being ping ponged through different employees claiming the next person would help me. After my third referral to a different employee, he did help me. But after surveying the shelves in the section where my item should have been, he then said he'd check somewhere else and be back then abandoned me for 15 mins. After patiently waiting AGAIN, I see him walk out the back room and aimlessly walk around in a different section of the store avoiding me & not making eye contact. If I could leave half of a star I would. November 23rd I ordered and scheduled delivery and installation for a stackable washer that was on back order. I was told it would be delivered between 2-4( today Dec 16th). At 1pm I got a call from dispatch saying the driver was behind and would arrive at 5, I said, fine. I never heard from anyone after that, I then called back at 5:15 and was told I would have a 6 minute wait, 35 minutes later, dispatch called and said the driver told them he couldn't get to my street( I live at a 5 point corner and off of 5 major streets and the expressway, near a Lakeshore Drive exit. There is No construction and no issues in my area to obstruct the driver from passing through to my street. The driver had dispatch call me at 5:47 ( the end of the delivery window) to say he couldn't make it on my street. I took off work and stayed in all day for this order. Communication is terrible and the fact I was brushed off, I believe is because I'm on the 3rd floor and the driver is lazy regarding the job he chose. It's 6:47 currently. Dispatch said they did not close the ticket and some would call me back shortly( 47 minutes ago). I've been calling repeatedly and continue to hold while they have been paid a month ago. I have been calling the actual delivery location which is this store and still continue to hold and have yet to be contacted by ANYONE Update: its 9:30pm and I'm still trying to get a person on the line.
