I have gone to Royal Nails for almost 3 years. My experience with my nail tech has been nothing short of incredible. She is super detailed, kind, remembers what I like and what works best for me and is always working on ways to make sure I get the best Dip nails and pedicures. They have the newer massage chairs that can massage your head, neck, hands and arms and your back all at once. Super relaxing! They offer waters, wine and other beverages (pretty sure I have seen Mimosas) while you're being worked on. My experiences have been so good that I was able to convince my hubby to come in for a pedicure with me. He ended up loving it! Now he actually goes from time to time on his own, when our schedules don't line up together. Lisa, the owner, has always been able to work with my ever changing schedule with ease, she smiles and greeted me by name when I walk in. And I truly appreciate that. And while my original nail tech has moved on, I recommend Anthony for artful and intricate nail work, for sure! He's quiet at first but if you talk with him, you will find someone that is REALLY funny and isn't afraid to show it - I honestly think it makes the time fly by when he is in that mode! read more

I've been going here for the past 2 years now being a college student in Tallahassee and never had a problem until today. I always get hard gel and have never been charged more than $70 and I always tip. I get the same thing every time, hard gel, almond shape, and one color nothing different today. But for some reason they decided to try to scam me and made me pay $80 which is a lot for a college student. I fought as much as I could about how I've never gotten charged that much and always come for the same exact thing and they just charged me more for getting almond shape which I have always done. Very much due for an update. It's been years since I've been at this salon. Since 2019 actually and the treatment has been night and day. In 2019, I had a good experience, but it was packed and I felt like a number. I also would up getting waxed and spent $100+, which had me in a tizzy, and mind you that was before tip. Extremely expensive compared to the prices I was used to in South Florida. Enter 2023. I'm officially a resident of Tallahassee. My nails, as per usual, are falling apart as I'm terrible at maintaining them, always biting them when the anxiety hits. I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment. When I arrived, I was set up with Tran as my manicurist. I went in to get both a gel manicure and a regular pedicure done. It was 2 in the afternoon, and as I've become used to drinking wine at a nail salon, I ordered myself a glass of Chardonnay. Honestly I really needed the down time and Tran just made it all the more enjoyable. I was reminded me of my old nail techs, Laura and Maria, in South Florida who I miss deeply. To me going to the nail salon isn't just about getting my nails done, but it's also a place to talk to other people and get to know them. A place to meet a friend of sorts. The attention I received was fantabulous (that's fantastic and fabulous all rolled into one). The wine was chilled, Tran and I spoke about books, Broadway, and food as she did my nails, and did I mention that my nails look amazing? I felt like a new woman walking out of there. Horrible experience! Lady who did my pedicure was very nice but for the price I paid, it was absolutely not worth it. It was subpar and I came for an elevated experience. I added on gel nail polish and they switched her out for another girl who did phenomenal for the last 5 mins of my service. I expressed that I wasn't pleased, the lady at the counter looked me in my face with no remorse, did not care, and still swiped my card for the full amount. I have been going to Royal Nails for the past 5 years. I have a birthday outing this weekend, so I booked an appointment with Olivia to get a pedicure that cost $75. Olivia was great as always and did an awesome job. However, I was waiting for another person to come and do my French and put a flower on my big toe because Olivia had another client and I told her it was okay and I would wait for the other person to come and assist me. I was told to wait a few minutes but was waiting for over 10 minutes. When I asked how much longer I was told a few more minutes. When I got tired of waiting I started to get my things and put on the shoes (they give you to not mess up your pedicure), that's when I told was it would be an even more wait because the person I needed to do my French and flower was with a client. It is very upsetting because if I knew the person was with a client, I would've waited or let them know I no longer needed the French on my toes. Earlier today I went in to have some tips put on. An older gentleman helped me and he absolutely butchered my nails. Almost every single nail is bleeding or rubbed raw. I am seriously concerned about not only a skin infection but also a fungal infection due to the instruments used. He used black dip and then put a gel top coat. It caused uneven texture and nail shape. They looked rushed and lacked attention to detail. I haven't had my nails done in 15 years. I was hoping for a delightful experience and left feeling shaken and worried about my nail health. I was in shock at how awful they turned out. I paid, tipped him (I know I shouldn't have but I'm too nice) and left. Once in the sunlight, I saw how horrendous they looked and it confirmed I needed to have them fixed. I went in and asked for them to be redone. He took me back and within 3 minutes caused yet another bleed. Thankfully, Lynn came to save the day. She spent an hour fixing his mistake. I asked to leave her a tip, because without her I would have left crying and mortified by my nails. I highly recommend Lynn. But I'm still concerned over the health of my nails and what they will look like when I remove the dip and tips. I'm terrified I'll get a skin infection or fungal infection. The tools used were not sanitized and you could tell he them on multiple clients without sanitizing between clients. I regret not walking out when I saw that and when the first bleed happened. I'll never return to this salon. However, I cannot stress enough that Lynn was an incredible nail artist and saved the aesthetic of my nails. I would recommend her to anyone. She actually deserves the initial payment and additional tip I left the salon. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! I asked one of my friends who always has beautiful, long-lasting nails where to go, and she referred me here. I came on a rainy Saturday and escaped the storm for a few hours of pampering. My nail tech was so friendly and I felt the pricing was fair for the dip polish that I got. (around $100 for a pedicure and SNS powder dip manicure) The space itself is worth mentioning, too. The nail spa is huge and when I was there, it was bustling! Everything was clean and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. They also offer complimentary beverages including mimosas. I had gone here a couple weeks back and got my nails done and I absolutely loved them, but I went back Monday October 24th 2022 to get very simple acrylic, black matte nails and I was very disappointed. The man who did my nails started the acrylic pretty low down. I've already had a nail break due to half the nail was done thick and the other side was super thin (shown in first picture). I drove an hour to get there after hearing a lot of great things about this place, only to end up having to pay $70 while my friend who got her nails done with a design and all only spent $65; and still left disappointed with the end results. When I go to get my nails done, I go to get in and get out. I don't find the experience "relaxing" so the atmosphere of a salon typically doesn't matter to me. However, Royal Nail is one of the only Nail Salon's in Tallahassee that feels like a REAL salon. It was recently remodeled and to me, it looks great! I have jumped around to multiple salons in this city but was recently recommended Crystal at Royal Nails -- she's amazing! During my last visit at Royal, I scheduled a 4:30 appointment for a gel fill (I had a meeting I needed to be at that began at 6:00)That day, they were unfortunately running very behind and I was not seated at a chair until 5:00. I expressed that in order to make it on time to my meeting, I needed to be out of the salon by 5:45. After asking whether or not this would be possible I was reassured that I would make it to my meeting on time. Because of this request, I had two different nail techs work on me to accommodate me. I was asked if I wanted them removed and I assumed it was included because they didn't tell me it was an additional charge. Usually when you go to a new salon, you are given instructions on using message chair--maybe even given an offer for water. Did not happen. My technician seldom looked at me. She kept staring at the front of the salon. When she finished the polish, she pointed to the foot rest and said to put my feet there. She never came back to see if the polish had dried. I did not see her again. My husband's experience was little better. First the water was too hot. He asked to have the nails cut short but that did not happen. When pedicure was complete, the technician just left him and went to the payment desk. We do not get out very often and were looking forward to the experience. It was competent, but not pleasant. I had a great experience. The salon is spacious. There are great color choices especially for color matching gel and regular polishes. I got the classic pedicure with sugar scrub. My nail tech paid great attention to detail and I enjoyed the scrub and massage. I also got a gel manicure with Phong and I am satisfied with the results. When he was applying the color he noticed that the polish had air bubbles in it. He gave me the option of using the color with bubbles or picking a different color. I chose another color and appreciated him stopping instead of giving me a lumpy polish job. I saw awesome pictures of great Halloween designed nails in the reviews here and even pricing saying they paid $100 for their toes and nails with design. Unfortunately, the service I received was not nice. I arrived and the lady who was supposed to be there to let me in had her back to the window I stood outside for 5 min then I called cause she was apparently not turning around. Finally inside, The whole experience seemed mechanical like I was moving through a factory line with no personal experience. Told to wash my hands and pointed twords a sink behind crowded setup of nail tech stations. Their was no nail brush to remove dirt from under the nail. I finished washing my hands and was motioned twords the front to another Staion to pick my color. They have a decent selection of gel polish but was hoping to get a design I found on Pinterest similar to what they had in their reviews. But, No such luck was blown off when asked if they could do the design I liked and never given any guidance. So I had the gentleman doing my toes just do plain color no design. This still cost $58 I found out later. The service for my pedicure was mediocre at best no leg massage no clay no sugar scrub. Now comes time for my nails I go to the front and another gentleman is going to do my nails I sat down and he started applying the tips I asked him if they charged extra for longer tips. He replied yes. So I asked how long for how much and he was very dismissive and told me to wait. After he applied them he chose a length and was like this length?? And I was like sure and he said $65 I was like ok. I asked if I got them shorter if they'd be less he said no. I was then informed if I wanted a design the cost would be $5 per nail and that if I wanted regular polish it would only be $58 I was so appalled at this I just opted for No Polish! Then I got told sarcastically how I must be a pro if I can gel polish my own nails. At the end of my service I left with unpolished nails very thin they will probably break. I showed the person doing my manicure the fifth photo to explain what design I wanted. The third and fourth pictures are what I received. I was shocked at the work and too uncomfortable to say anything at the time. The original cost was $45 for gel and an additional $3 per finger with a design. I ended up paying $57 for this... I cried when I got home because I was so frustrated that they thought this was acceptable so I called to see if they could fix it. I went back the following day and a new lady changed the two designs to plain pink because I did not trust them to redo the design. Instead of taking off the original nail polish it was hardly buffed and now the two fingers are really thick with polish. Overall an unpleasant experience. I did not get my money back for the designs and ended up with a regular subpar manicure. Very disappointed being that they had such great ratings. read more

Can I give more than a 5 star rating?! When I first moved to Tallahassee I began the important search for a quality nail salon. I went to two salons (and left both disappointed) before I stumbled upon Royal Nail. With that said, Royal Nail is nothing short of the best nail salon in Tallahassee. I have been to this salon 4 times, and I am been so pleased that I won't go anywhere else. The quality of materials they use, the broad selection of colors, their facilities, and their professionalism are all top notch. The materials the use: When I get my gel nails done there, they stay PERFECTLY for 4 weeks. I am always so happy with the smooth look of my nails, the fashionable color, and I love the compliments I get! Their facilities: The salon itself is BEAUTIFUL! The bar is made from beautiful granite and deep brown wood, and is absolutely wonderful. There is classic art hanging on the wall. And the salon seems new. And the professionalism: I visited Royal Nail yesterday to have my nails done, and by the time my manicure was finished up it was pitch black outside. I paid at the front desk, thanked my nail artists, and then walked out to my car. However, upon getting halfway across the dark parking lot, I felt unsafe and I turned around. I went back inside and let the receptionist know that I was just in. Immediately she asked if I wanted someone to walk me to my car, and then sent two of the technicians to walk with me. Both men nicely, walked with me out to the parking lot. One of the men shined the light from his phone under my car and around my car before I got in. And then even waved at me as I was leaving.
