The place seems more like a nice hotel than an elder care center, with beautiful grounds, winding paths, and even bunnies! This was the second place she was in memory care, and there is no comparison. The staff here is so caring and professional. They keep in regular touch with the residents' families, and spend a tremendous amount of time on enrichment activities with each resident. The food is excellent, and was served in a restaurant-like environment before the pandemic. Now it is catered to each room They also hosted a private birthday lunch in one of their small dining rooms for our family and my mother-in-law. Since the pandemic they have done a marvelous job of keeping residents safe. Most of the staff and management have been here a long time, and it's easy to see why.

My five stars go to Sunrise's executive director, Edith Kennedy, and the nursing and admin staff…read more They are exceptional, and I don't use that word a lot. Edith is particularly outstanding because she truly cares and is on her game with details, always wanting feedback (good or bad) to make your loved one's experience the best it can be. Now, with assisted living facilities this can sometimes be like moving a mountain. But, she earnestly tries. She's got your back. However, despite this, we are actually moving my dad to another local facility shortly due to one of Sunrise's bad qualities, horrible in fact, and that is...pricing. Again, to be found at many assisted living facilities but costs at Sunrise are higher than most...and they price differently than most. For example, when you first talk to them they speak of the rent as a flat rate. But it's not. Sunrise charges you a day rate per month. So your cost varies per month based on days of the month. The rent is better in February, September, April, June and November. But the other seven months with 31 days...all higher. And surprise...there are more months with 31 days in a year so the house wins. It's a bad optic. Despite the costs, they serve generic soda vs. Coke and Pepsi brands. Small yes, but at these prices...bad optic. They only have transportation offered 2 days a week while most other places provide 7 days. Again, for what they charge...bad optic. And one other thing. No matter what month you move in, your rent will be increased come January by 5-10%. The contract makes it sound like it's a random event, but it happens every year like clockwork and you will be notified 60 days in advance. And remember, you have your highest leverage to negotiate (the move-in fee, etc.) before you sign the contract. So with Sunrise, the people are terrific. The prices are not. And in the end, it's a shame that a business that exists to provide care often comes across as caring more about the money.

If you are looking for a place where safety, clinical excellence, and genuine compassion intersect, this is it. First, I want to recognize Ashi, the Administrator. Her leadership is evident the moment you walk through the doors--the team is cohesive, the environment is professional, and the care is top-tier. I spent a significant amount of time with Jessica Torres, the Community Ambassador, and she is simply exceptional. Jessica is incredibly knowledgeable and shared deep, educated insights into the nuances of memory care life. She took the time to truly educate me on what it means to live in a specialized secure unit, providing peace of mind that is hard to find elsewhere. The facility design is one of the most unique and thoughtful I have ever seen. In terms of security, it is easily one of the best I have been in. It manages to feel like a warm, inviting home while maintaining a rigorous focus on the safety of its residents. I highly recommend Silverado to any family in the Thousand Oaks area navigating the journey of memory care. It is a world-class community led by world-class people.

We were fortunate to be connected with Tami at Assisted Living Connections, and I truly can't say enough good things about her. From the very beginning, Tami took the time to understand my mother's unique needs, personality, and our family's concerns. She never pressured us or tried to steer us toward one community over another. Instead, she patiently answered countless questions, provided thoughtful guidance, and helped us weigh the pros and cons of each option. What I appreciated most was that Tami was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and compassionate. She understood that this wasn't simply about finding an available room--it was about finding the right fit for my mother during a very emotional life transition. She checked in regularly, advocated on our behalf when needed, and was always available when we had another question or needed reassurance. Thanks in large part to Tami's guidance, my mother recently moved into a community that we feel is an excellent fit for her. We are so grateful for her expertise, professionalism, and genuine kindness throughout the entire process. If you're beginning the search for assisted living for a loved one, I highly recommend reaching out to Tami. Having someone knowledgeable and caring by your side makes an incredibly difficult process so much more manageable.

She also had a wealth of knowledge about each facility, and helped me decide the best fit for my father. After moving him in, she also checked in regularly to see how the move was going, which was a very nice personal touch. I would highly recommend this service for anybody who needs to help a family member move to assisted living. It made the whole process easier and more manageable.

A hidden gem of care, comfort, and compassion!…read more From the moment I walked up to the entrance of Cinnamon Gardens RCFE (Retirement Community for the Elderly), I was struck by the pristine neighborhood and the immaculate grounds of the home itself--an excellent first indicator of the level of care happening inside. As a senior placement consultant, first impressions matter deeply, and this one absolutely set the tone. I was warmly greeted at the door by the Administrator, Tammy, and from there, the tour just got better and better. Tammy is a gem--her love and commitment to her residents radiate from everything she does. She treats them like family, often going above and beyond to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system to secure the right durable medical equipment or services residents may need. That kind of support is not something she has to do--it's something she chooses to do. Tammy also has a strong network of providers and often relieves families of the burden of coordinating care, especially during an already overwhelming time. Her knowledge of innovative, often more effective equipment and care solutions is impressive, and she does it all with the residents' best interest at heart--frequently at no benefit to herself and at no or limited cost to them. On one visit, I arrived to find Tammy in the kitchen preparing a full Irish feast for St. Patrick's Day--corned beef and all the trimmings! The home was buzzing with life, with therapists coming in for different residents, and creative artwork by the residents proudly displayed throughout the home. Even though it's a 6-bed facility (which isn't required to post activities), she has a calendar posted--because she understands how important it is to give residents something to look forward to and to keep everyone meaningfully engaged. The home itself is beautifully remodeled, fresh, and impeccably clean. Residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms with their own belongings, creating a true home-like environment--not a facility-type lifestyle. There's warmth, laughter, great food, and a genuine sense of comfort throughout. The backyard is just as thoughtful--a peaceful gathering area perfect for fresh air and connection. Tammy ensured the recent remodel used only top-quality materials, all while staying fully compliant with assisted living standards. Each time I visit, I look forward to seeing the same uplifting energy and warm atmosphere. (Photos attached are my own -- casually taken during my visits, unedited and non-professional -- to reflect exactly what I saw and experienced firsthand.) Tammy's years of experience are clearly evident in every detail. Cinnamon Gardens isn't just a care home--it's a true haven, and a shining example of what an exceptional RCFE should look like. Highly recommend!

After a hospitalization we had just one day to find a place for my mom. It was overwhelming to have to make a decision so quickly. We toured 4 homes set up for us by Assisted Living Connections (an amazing local company who helps to place loved ones in long term care). We knew immediately that this was the right place for our mom, but did our due diligence to tour the remaining homes on our list. Even though Cinnamon Gardens home is calm and beautiful, the main reason for choosing this place was the administrator Tammy. Tammy is so kind and put us at such ease, we knew my mom would be well cared for. One year later this is 100% the case. Tammy is organized and keeps me well informed. She is always looking for ways to engage the residents and to do something special for them. Family members are made to feel so welcome when visiting. The place is spotless. There is a nice shaded patio outside to sit and visit. The inside is light and bright with comfortable recliners for the residents. The staff are super kind and attentive and so respectful to the residents. They make families feel at home. You will feel right at home at Cinnamon Gardens if you ever need a place for your loved one.

If you're suddenly in the stressful place of finding the right fit for a loved one needing assisted…read moreliving, you'd be smart to include Atria Grand Oaks in your search. I moved my father here from another nearby facility for many reasons, but the main one? The people. Not just the many attentive caregivers and detail-driven admin staff, but frankly, the residents themselves. They bring a noticeably upbeat vibe on-site by being genuinely friendly and outgoing - there's good energy here. To me, that's as important to consider as a property's amenities or pricing. Yet, cost-wise, this is the best value you'll find in the TO/WLV area. Hands down. The facility itself is lovely and well kept, with generously sized rooms (even the studios), an expansive dining room featuring a daily menu of surprisingly tasty selections, a pool, a theatre, a library, a gym, fun outings, activities, daily transport as needed, and gorgeous exterior grounds (including a putting green) that are meticulously maintained and quickly refreshed as needed. Also notable: An impressive, new arrangement of high-end flowers that greets you in the foyer each week. Why does this matter? Efforts like these say a lot about the approach Atria insists on when overseeing your loved one. Details matter here. Now, some past reviews posted below may say otherwise (when Eden (the current executive director, who is terrific) and the new chef (who is talented as well as accommodating) weren't in place yet), but from what I've encountered, the staff delivers a remarkably one-on-one, personal experience to each of its residents. Importantly, these folks are also nothing but attentive and accommodating in working with family members to help manage a resident's care schedule and travel. Given all this, my dad and I are grateful to have found this option as his new home. A last comment on rent increases (true of any assisted living facility - not a slam on Atria). The contracts of many facilities use misleading legal speak when describing the "potential" of rent increases. Phrases like, "In the event the facility should experience an increase in rates" or "From time to time, the property will incur a rent increase based on blah blah blah...." This is false, and I don't know how care facilities are allowed to create this untrue impression on a legal document. The simple truth is, every January 1st the rent will increase. Now, your sales rep will admit this if you ask. But the smart move? Add it in writing to the contract before you sign. Stipulate what you agree to pay, percentage wise, as an increase each year. I'd recommend no more than 5-7%. After all, it's likely they need you as much as you need them, and your strongest leverage is right before you sign anything. Despite your search being an emotional journey, at the end of the day, this is business. Facilities need to fill rooms quickly and generate income. Find the place that's flexible and "feels" right while checking all your boxes. For us, that was Atria Grand Oaks.

The pricing is reasonable for what you get and so far, no problem. I have met some very nice people here. If you are looking for assisted living, choosing Atria should be your choice.

My mother was being released from the hospital into home hospice, and we needed around-the-clock care on very short notice. She was bedridden and required intensive, attentive support. Allen Tahir was our primary contact, and he was extraordinary. With professionalism and kindness, he quickly assembled a team of competent, compassionate, trustworthy, and reliable caregivers so that we could bring my mother home as she wished.
