I've been here a few times now and this is one of the best Thai restaurants in town! It's a small restaurant near UCR, a bit unassuming but the food here is fantastic. The standout items on the menu is definitely their curry dishes. So far we have had their pineapple and green curry and both have been amazing. The meat is tender, and the curry sauce is rich and flavorful. It really feels like you're eating homemade Thai food when you dine here. For dessert, we had their mango sticky rice as well. Stopped at Royal Thai after a long day of car shopping. I was exhausted and so hungry I could barely think. When I walked in I was immediately hit with the smell of bathroom mop water. I contemplated leaving but frankly I was too tired to go elsewhere and was greeted as soon as I was getting the energy to walk right back out and find somewhere else. The gentleman who sat me was very friendly and seemed cheerful which is always a plus. My order was taken very quickly. The tom Kha came out quickly and the taste was standard, but I'm very used to having tomato in mine and there was none in here. So it was mostly chicken and mushrooms with a little bit of greens and lemongrass, which is fine but I feel the tomato balances out the soups flavor profile in a pretty big way now that I've had it without. The atmosphere when my dining companion and I arrived had all the vibes of a bus station in winter after a storm, bright lights and no warmth. We were seated promptly, no one else was eating in. I ordered golden triangles and chicken wonton. He ordered chicken pad thai. His order was decent but lacked pizzazz. My wontons were overcooked and the golden triangles were still frozen inside. After notifying the wait staff politely, no offer was made to replace the food or remove it from the bill. I paid for food I had to throw away. My unhelpful dining companion laughed. I've eaten at over 50 Thai restaurants (it's a hobby of mine -- Thai is my favorite cuisine), and this one truly stands out. I also tried the Royal Shrimp (wonton wrapped) -- absolutely delicious. hate to give a negative review but i loved this place so much i haven't reviewed it. all the times i've dined in have been perfect. even when i ordered once. everything had been warm and tasty. i even started bringing friends and family in to convert them. i tried the green curry in april and had the lunch special. it was a good size and the taste made me fall in love. everything was perfect and the curry was warm, perfect spice, and thick. i had been craving it again and decided to order online for pick up along with some drunken noodles that i've also had before. i had messed up online so i called to fix it and had said that instead of the side of rice i would like steamed veggies. i had said tofu for protein but when i got there my curry had no protein. i decided not to say anything because it was partly my fault for ordering on phone. when i got home and opened it my curry smelled good and the steamed veggies looked fine. however when i went to go serve myself some it was not the best. the curry was watery (both texture and flavor) and was not the same taste as the one i fell in love with. the cup was also filled mostly with eggplant and made it so there was just a bit of liquid. it was so disappointing. however, that wasn't all. my noodles were not even edible. they were so over cooked they didn't even look like noodles. way beyond drunken. i guess this is not the place for take out. i didn't understand how the noodles ended so mushy and bad. the time to pickup wasn't updated but i recommend picking up earlier than it says. at least my mango sticky rice was consistent! it was really sad. read more

I'll bet you can count on one finger how many times you've had to jump up (while eating pad thai) to go hurl in the bushes, parking lot, freshly mowed grassy area, or any other location that tickles your fancy... and so can I. This was that one time. Rewinding about 3 minute back in time, I had my wife taste it, and she said it wasn't her bag, baby. There was something weird about the creaminess. Truthfully, this was the first time I heard an adjective of creaminess applied to this particular subject. But I was brash and brazen, yup, like those hooligans with their windows down and their system up. I'd show her who could handle their veggies and cream! You know you'll probably never return when the gag reflex hits before you reach the front door... for my wife's sake, thankfully it was a warning heave which is the sign to leave. The service here is extremely horrible. We called ahead of time to see if their hours are accurate and if we can still dine in. The gentleman on the phone stated they'd be more than happy to take us. Upon arrival we told them we called on the phone and if possible to still be seated for dine in. The host/sever was rude as can be reluctantly seated us with such a hostile attitude. Mind you, completely empty with only two other customers. We then decided to leave and let them know the attitude was not appreciated and they could've just said they're not serving dine in at this time. Smaller parties: Check your receipts for auto applied gratuities! They are adding 18%. First impression of the restaurant as you walk in is off-putting as the general smell inside is of sewer gas and toilet water. Our party of 4 and 1 child decided to see it through and give them a chance. We had Tom Kha, yellow chicken curry, chicken fried rice, Pad See Ew, and chicken satay. The quality of the food was mediocre at best compared to other Thai establishments. The yellow chicken curry was mostly onion and very watered down. The Tom Kha, Pad See Ew and Chicken fried rice were ok at best. Another disappointment was the chicken satay. Chicken was over cooked and had a strange odor/texture as well. Lastly, not sure when a party of 4 became a large party deserving of an automatic 18% gratuity charge, but that came as an added surprise at the end. I'm not against tipping, but it should be left up to the customer to determine the amount, especially if the service and quality were sub par. Husband and I were told to sit at a booth and then our waitress came by within the first 5min to ask us for our drink order and give us a menu. We ordered and the food didn't take very long to come out. The portions were decent and with the two items we got, our appetizers, and our dessert we were set. The dessert was my favorite. Service here has always been spectacular. Even after several years, the workers are very kind and assertive. The inside is very clean and welcoming. The food is fresh and tasty. I asked for low sugar in the Thai tea and that's exactly what I got. I was very surprised they were able to lessen the sweetness! Their pad Thai lunch was fresh and I loved the generous amount of tofu given. The location is inside a plaza corner.
