We visited as part of a group of 14 on Friday night 5/1 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, something felt off, and it quickly became clear the restaurant was significantly understaffed. We later learned the same person was acting as the cook, cashier, and server. It took over an hour for any food to begin coming out to our table, and even after nearly two hours, meals were still trickling out. I never received my food at all. What made this even more frustrating was that there was no clear way to communicate with staff. There was no cashier available, and we weren't able to let anyone know we wanted to cancel the order given how long it had been. My spouse ended up paying for a meal I never received. After waiting that long, I eventually had to leave without eating dinner at all. I came home and had a protein shake instead, which is not how anyone expects their night to go after going out to eat. To be fair, others in our party who did receive their food said it tasted very good, which makes this even more disappointing. I understand that this may have been an off night, but the lack of communication, excessive wait, and inability to resolve the issue made for a really poor experience. We almost always order the pad Thai, and I'm normally the volcanic ramen guy, but since it was Valentine's Day, I went with the falling ramen instead. Still full of flavor, just without the spice level trying to prove a point. We actually showed up about an hour before our reservation, which was already early for Valentine's dinner. The moment I told Lily the reservation was under Jacqueline, she lit up and said, "Oh, she's my favorite," and sat us right away. That's the kind of place this is. It was luke warm when I ate it, and my office is 3 minutes from there. There were two pieces of pork belly, a hard boiled egg and some white things, and lots of noodles, And even more broth. It was bland. I asked for non spicy, but it didn't have much flavor. Also, expensive. $17.00 for just the bowl. No drink. The menu is big and they have sushi and curry dishes, and its super convenient so I will give it another chance, but first try is meh. read more

I hate to give any business a one star review. I would have given it a 2 to 3 star for service and food, but it gets one star because my brother and I got food poisoning after eating here. We shared the philly roll so we think the salmon was bad. We also got separate ramen bowls. The miso ramen broth had a good flavor but the drunken ramen was pretty bland besides a straight basil and ginger flavor. The pork was very firm and difficult to chew in both of our meals. The egg was closer to hard boiled than soft boiled. The noodles were cooked well. The thai tea was decent. It was extremely sweet and diluted and didn't have that strong flavor most thai tea has. Just had an outstanding meal at Zen Street, and this was a trio that understood the assignment. The chicken ramen was deeply flavorful with a solid, comforting broth and well-balanced ingredients nothing muddy, nothing overpowering. Every bite worked. The shrimp tempura? Light, crispy, and dangerously tasty (the kind you keep reaching for without realizing it). And the egg rolls were fantastic, crispy on the outside, satisfying on the inside, zero grease fatigue. The service here sucks tremendously! Prior to coming in today 4/21, we tried to call to place our order but no one answered the phone and the recording stated they were closed for Easter. So we came in today 04/21/26 at lunch time around 12:10pm, placed my individual order amongst my 3 other coworkers. It took them 37 minutes for them to bring out our takeout orders, only to find out the girl that was working the register didn't put my order in even though she took my cash to process the payment. Once she handed 3 bobas and 2 orders of potstickers to my coworkers, she just said "oh, it must have now been put in" - I ended up telling the cashier just to give me my money back since I don't have another 37mins to wait since I'm on lunch break. The cashier then asks me "do you remember how much your order was?" Additionally, I could understand if the restaurant was flooded with people but there was only 2 other customers in there. The food here is amazing, best we've found in Riverside for Thai and Japanese. This is our second visit for sit down at the restaurant in a month. First time we did take out and it was quite fresh and delightful. Appetizers like tempura shrimp and Mao Mao dumplings are tasty (ask for the sauce tray) and have good portions. Tongotsu soup is fantastic with a very nice broth. I substitute udon noodle because, well, udon right? Service is Goldilocks perfect. Friendly and just the right amount of presence. We highly recommend Zen Street--we are picky when it comes to Thai/Japanese. It rivals Hanuman in Costa Mesa, which is saying a lot. read more

The broth was bland and missing depth of flavor, and the pork was tough instead of tender. My wife ordered the Chicken Pad See Ew with chili to make it spicy. The noodles were all broken and no longer than about two inches. I'm not sure if that's normal here or if they used scraps. The dish was not spicy at all and lacked flavor. My son ordered chicken stir-fry rice and a California roll. The stir-fry rice was also bland, and the rice looked almost white. The best part of the entire meal was the California roll. If you're looking for good ramen, I recommend HiroNori. For great Thai food, Rice N Spice in Moreno Valley is a much better option. Unfortunately, this place just isn't it. read more

Came here for lunch break from jury duty. Wanted some noodles. Ordered their volcanic ramen with extra noodles. Extra noodles came on the side. Noodles themselves were cooked perfectly. It definitely did not pair well with the soup. The soup was reminiscent of a bunch of different flavors mixed all into one broth, which I get is a SEA cuisine thing, but it wasn't really what you'd expect in the Japanese cuisine flavor profile. From what I could vaguely tell, it had pork, some Thai chilis, maybe some fish sauce, and maybe some miso. I asked for it to be very spicy, and they added two uncut Thai chilis into it. There was also an egg that was whisked into it alongside the ground meat. Too many conflicting flavors embedded directly into the broth itself. People have certain expectations when they order a dish marketed as Japanese ramen. The broth should be simple. It needs to be slow cooked pork base with a light blend of other ingredients - the pork should stand out as the main player, and you should only subtlety taste the other stuff. The toppings shouldn't be blended into the broth, but should be distinct. The egg should be soft boiled, not whisked into the soup. But maybe that's just what their 'volcano ramen' is supposed to be like. It just wasn't for me. And certainly not Japanese. $22 + $5 tip wasn't worth. Maybe I'll try their Thai food next time instead. read more

I would recommend this place, it's nice small dark little spot. We went at night so parking was nice, and no issue. I ordered the beef Ramon with lime Chile flavor level 3, it was tasty but the beef was a little raw for my liking. I know beef normally comes raw in pho and Ramon so the juice cooks but didn't really like it raw. Beef potstickers were 8/10, pork bun 10! My son said the best he's had. Ordered salmon sashimi, small but good. My husband ordered Thai chicken basil fried rice, he had very little chicken he rates 7/10. My daughter ordered the SP roll, the name it too long to pronounce lol waiter said oh I call that the SP Roll, had salmon , shrimp and sauce that was delicious she races 8/10. My son got Chai milk tea he Said 10/10. Overall I give this place 4/5 stars it would be 5 however service in the beginning was slow. I would be back and update my review. read more

I hate to leave a negative review but the food was horrible. I had the $19 special where we could pick three items and salad and rice came with it. The tempura shrimp was under cooked and the coating tasted like paste. The salad was bland and the California rolls were tasteless. I was really excited to try this restaurant as one of my friends said they ate here frequently. The chef got there late and it showed up on the food. The waitress had to come back several times and say that certain dishes where not available for various reasons. One of us ordered a variety of items and was told after the rest of us had eaten most of our food that they couldn't make the dish because some of the ingredients were not available. Thankfully she was not charge for her lunch. I have to say I was not happy with the food but the people there were very nice. I guess I would be more understanding if it was not for the fact that we were the only customers in the restaurant!!!!! read more

They double fried it way too much. The ramen and pad see ew had a fishy aftertaste to it. They didn't have masago for our sushi unfortunately. Restrooms were dirty. Some of the food was overcooked and hard to chew. The pork was super chewy in the ramen. The mango green iced tea was the best thing. With tip and everything I paid almost $92. I've been a few times and the last time was a miss... It took the waiter sooo long to acknowledge us and our food took about 40 minutes to come out only for it not to be brought out all together. They brought out one bowl of ramen first only for it to be lukewarm. It took them a while to bring out the other two bowls. they also didn't bring us our drink. We literally ordered one drink and I had to hunt someone down to grab it for us after they brought us our food. They didn't check on us. Really bad. We started with the pork buns which usually have a light and spongy bread but I could tell that the ones here are frozen & defrosted. The pancake was chewy and hard in parts. They should take this off the menu because no one who has ever ordered these at a proper ramen place would expect they could be this bad. The pork was minced rather than fresh and it was very dry. I ordered spicy miso ramen which wasn't spicy at all and very flavorless. When it was served it wasn't all that hot. Really off putting. Stay home and mix a packet of chapaghetti and shin together.
