Walked in just a little after noon. The inside restaurant was empty, outside which is where we sat had one couple. It took us about twenty minutes to look over the menu and decide. We placed our orders close to 12:30 then sat and enjoyed our drinks while looking at the amazing view. Our server was also the bartender, she was very gracias and kind and knew the menu well. Almost an hour later, we still hadn't gotten our food. I walked inside only to greet our waitress who was at that moment heading to our table with our order. She informed us they had been having issues with their ticketing system so the chefs never received the order when she placed it. I certainly understand tech issues, but if the ticketing system is having known problems, I would have followed up the electronic order with a verbal heads-up just to make sure they got it Food arrived and was delicious as others have said. The sushi rolls were giant so I could only eat four of the eight in the order. The restaurant is clean, and feels like a beach restaurant. The view is amazing as others have said as well. We had a party of 8 for an early dinner. Good thing was the place was completely empty. Overall the food was good but overpriced in my opinion. The restaurant is in dire need of a remodel for a higher priced establishment Also the water was not filtered and had that Florida sulfur/sandy taste. I would have expected better. I really did enjoy the food for the most part, we ordered drinks and they were not very good, one was watery and had no flavor when it should have been sweet and the other was sweet when it shouldn't have been at all. However the view is really nice if you sit outside. I went for my birthday last weekend and we got the shrimp tempura rolls which were my favorite, we got 2 orders. I ordered the pasta and asked to take a couple things out and I was told that the chef did not like what I asked for and basically wouldn't comply with what I ordered. I asked for the stuff I didn't want to be put on the side, simple request I think, and our waitress told us the chef basically yelled at her and wouldn't do that and he would take it all out or leave it all in and nothing could be on the side because he didn't like that request. Extremely unprofessional of the chef and rude in my opinion, especially if he got mad at the waitress who did her job very well and was just doing what I had asked. First time here while on a family trip to Destin. While the weather was windy and partly cloudy our hostess sat us by the windows facing the beach which was still nice so we could enjoy some of the views. We were the first ones in when they opened and after a few minutes we were greeted by our server. We ordered the royal palm oysters and friend green tomatoes with shrimp. The appetizers were good (we really enjoyed the oysters). The green tomatoes were fried well and flavorful but my only knock would be maybe be to drizzle the plate with the beurre blank vs coating the tomatoes as it lost some of its crunch. Our entrees were well prepared and the perfect serving size. If in the area we will definitely be back and would recommend for a great lunch near the beach. read more

I have eaten at the Royal Palm Grill many times I really enjoy it but it's really like getting a couple deals in one if you go there. First, they have a very nice bar as soon as you walk in kind of reminds me of an old fashion, kind of bar with tables and stuff and you can eat at the bar. They've got a great menu. This time we went to the bar and ordered some sushi.My wife she doesn't care for raw fish. We had a crunchy shrimp roll. And it was very very good and then if you want, you can leave there and go to the main dining room overlook the ocean. It's really beautiful at night very nice during the day. The entire wall is glass and you can see the beach very easily without the wind and the sand, if you miss that you can go outside because they have a wonderful deck over there looking at the ocean. If that's not enough, there is a walk over 98 that goes to the beach bar and the beach bar is three decks of an outdoor bar right on the sand out on the beach so it's really nice. You can actually go and spend the entire day down there, I hope you get a chance to try the Royal Palm, I know I enjoy it. I hope you will too. read more

As of the writing of this review this restraint is billing at 3.5 stars and I think that is 100% where it should be. Wishing this site would allow me to rate 3.5 but as it only allows whole numbers I will have to air on the side of 3. The food here is good and it's not super busy with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. While other places nearby had a 2 hour wait time we were able to be seated almost immediately. The service is fast and friendly and the food is well cooked, flavorful and good. The main issue with this place is pricing. I don't mind paying up for an exceptional, 4-5 star experience but this place isn't that. This place is a solid location and a great alternative to busier more tourist focused locations but $99 for 2 meals, an appetizer, and 2 drinks is just way too much for the comparative quality of the food. The drinks were a big disappointment. They are tiny (especially for the cost $11 for a mojito smaller than a solo cup), they don't provide any straws (plastic or paper versions) and they don't advertise that in advance. The food is fresh and good but not mind blowing. It's a great location but their prices need to be reduced by about 30% for the quality of their food to match their prices. Recommend as a great alternative if other locations are fully booked or have long wait times. read more

First off we were there back in December and it is their off season- that being said- the place was super empty and when we walked in the place smelled of fish (which was a turn off) We were seated near the windows which allowed a great view. The shrimp and grits was good. Cesar salad wasn't anything spectacular. The poke bowl was small and the flavor was off. The sushi was ok but they drowned it in the sauce so it really took away from the roll. Our kids ordered Mango virgin daiquiris and for $11.00 or $12.00 dollars it came in a plastic cup like they ordered a hard alcohol drink- pretty disappointing. For being an "award winning " restaurant the service was scarce- waitress came brought our drinks, I ordered a side salad which she brought with my meal and when our food was brought she then disappeared. We have stayed at Surfside Resort several times and this place is in the main level. It has a great view of the gulf and also has a bar that you can walk across the elevated walkway to that is right on the beach. The food is good but a bit pricey. Overall a good place to eat and has friendly staff with lots of smiles. read more

Wow! My family and I have been coming to Destin for years and had never tried this place. Some family joined us this vacation and liked what the menu had to offer.
