For entrees I got the Crab Stuffed Shrimp and my husband got the Fish Trio (cannot exactly remember the full name) - we both got twice backed potato and green beans. The Crab Stuffed Shrimp was phenomenal. I loved my plate and sides. My husband said his tuna steak was overcooked but otherwise the fish was really good. He tried a bite of my shrimp though and said he would get my dish instead next time. I got a margarita (was on happy hour) and my husband got a strawberry daiquiri. 0/10 recommend. Both were not good. Very watered down tasting. We got there at 3p and it was packed but we were seated immediately and had all of our food within 10-15 minutes. Super quick service. The Back Porch was a good dining experience overall. The food was flavorful, and we enjoyed our meal. While we waited for our table, the beach bar made the wait much more enjoyable. The only drawback was the heat. A few fans or a stronger breeze in the outdoor waiting area would have made the experience much more comfortable, especially on a warm day. One note for families: the kids' chicken tenders were surprisingly spicy and a bit too hot for younger children. Other than that, everything met our expectations. This restaurant is right on the beach. They have inside and outside seating. There was a long wait to be seated. They had told us 45 minutes, but in 30 minutes we were called. Clark was our waitress and she was the best. I had the surf side sampler as a meal. It came with a good amount of shrimp and fish dip. The Mozzarella sticks for delicious and the hush puppies were worth it. For my drink, I had the coco cabana. It was a little too sweet for me, but I still drank it. For dessert, we shared the key lime pie. It was perfectly sweet and tart. Service is very quick. The view is beautiful. read more

While vacationing in Destin, Florida, we decided to try The Back Porch, a beachfront restaurant located just outside our resort. This place is always busy, so I recommend arriving early. They also have a charming gift shop that's worth checking out. The restaurant was clean, well-managed, and organized despite the crowd. We were seated within five minutes, and our table was greeted immediately for drink orders. Our server, Ethan, was excellent--attentive, efficient, and friendly throughout the meal. I ordered the Surf & Turf, featuring a 14-ounce ribeye and snow crab legs, along with coleslaw and lemon dill rice. The steak was cooked very well, though it could have used a little more seasoning. The snow crab legs were sweet and flavorful, especially dipped in the melted butter. The coleslaw was fresh and delicious, and the lemon dill rice was the perfect accompaniment, soaking up all the flavors from the steak and crab. This was the perfect spot for our group to gather after a long day at the beach. The atmosphere, service, and location made for a wonderful dining experience. Nice sized fish & the Cole slaw is good here, almost fruity. It came with a ton of fries that were cooked well. The bread is soft & the tartar sauce went well with it The crabs were cooked perfectly and so sweet. I almost wish we'd have gotten an extra cluster for $18. It's always busy at this place. They told us 35 mins for the wait but it took maybe 20. It filled up as we left though. They have a gift shop and beach access to entertain you while you wait + a loud speaker so you can hear them call for you. This place is pretty popular and I'm still unsure how they seat people, but they don't take reservations and they don't give you a wait time. There is usually a long line to get a table. Plenty of public parking. Many of the tables have an ocean view. Food was okay, kind of what you would expect. Sandwiches are around $25 and fish plates are around $45. Definitely kid friendly. The seafood gumbo had a good consistency, but lacked a little flavor, in my opinion. Same with crab and spinach dip. The seafood nachos were a good portion. Key lime pie was the best part. If I was leaving a review for the view alone - 5 stars. Service - 5 stars. Food - 2 stars. Maybe less. Everything we ordered looked like it came from a pre-made grab and go cafeteria. and just slapped on our plates with tongs. The top of my twice baked potato was dry. Mashed potatoes were plain. Onion rings were greasy and limp - actually dripped grease out as I took a bite. Fries were not fresh. The fish tacos looked reasonably fresh, but the fish itself was dry. The"bucket" drink is basically $25 for pineapple juice that had gone bad three days ago. Super disappointing. This is the 6th meal we have eaten in the Destin area, the most expensive so far and least worth it. The only saving grace is if you are lucky enough to be sat next to the open air windows - windy, but great view. Dined here for Mother's Day. Seems like a pretty popular restaurant. We were told we had a 40 min wait but seemed to only be 20 mins. Our server was Olivia and she was great. I ordered the fried crab claws and the blackened grouper sandwich with double fries, the sandwich comes with coleslaw and you can substitute for any sides on the menu. The crab claws were meaty and seasoned very well. The grouper sandwich was a large piece of fish, seasoned well with lettuce and tomato with a pickle on the side. Highly recommend. Located on the beach, we had a perfect view of the sunset. For my beverage I ordered the virgin pina colada and it was delicious. We looked at some places and this seemed to have the best reviews. The restaurant is right on the beach with really nice views. It appeared as if the bar was filled with locals which to me was a good sign. The staff were very friendly and we were seated right away. I'm not huge into seafood so I ordered the chicken and Swiss sandwich with fries. It was delicious and the fries were fantastic. It is a chargrilled breast with bacon and Swiss cheese. The wife ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and it came with southern corn and a side. She chose the twice baked potato. The size of the dish is really enough for two. She said it was excellent. She was really impressed with how fresh and delicious it was. I did have some of the potato and it was really good. I also ordered a side of onion rings and they were good as well. Did not have a great experience here. While the views were definitely as advertised, that was where my trip here peaked and it was downhill from there. The food did not taste great at all, and felt like it was frozen to table. The fried seafood was more breading than fish, and lacked any sort of taste. The seafood boil, if you could call it that, looked as if it was boiled in water with no seasoning and served to my family. Additionally, my server was quite rude, and forgive me for not remembering her name, but seemed as though She was focused on getting through her shift instead of providing a great experience. I came here to meet some family in town for the summer and let me tell you this place was PACKED. There were so many people waiting for a table inside and out of the restaurant. People were sitting down on the benches and some were even standing up waiting. I just knew the wait was going to be at least 2 hours. I was wrong! The wait was 45 minutes. One thing I like about this restaurant is they call multiple tables at once to be seated. They are good about getting people in and out in a reasonable amount of time. My party was sat upstairs near a window. The summer breeze and view of the beach was really nice. The table ordered fried pickles, firecracker shrimp and jalapeño baked oysters. The fried pickles and firecracker shrimp were good. But those jalapeño baked oysters were fantastically delicious. I have had oysters without the shell before and I believe that's my favorite way to eat oysters. These jalapeño baked oysters were so delicious I ate them so fast and immediately wanted more. The cheese, and bacon were baked to perfection and the jalapeño added just the right amount of kick that I like. I appreciated the fresh jalapeños. My husband and I ordered the same thing for our entrees: the fried grouper and shrimp combo. I ordered the twice baked potato and green bean medley for my sides. I did not care for my baked potato and asked what was in it and was informed it was sour cream. I can't have sour cream and after I mentioned that, the server asked if I wanted another side. I said no it was ok but she was very nice and brought me a side of lemon rice and fries. My husband ordered fried onions rings and slaw for his sides. Everytime to go to Destin this is my to go spot. The food is well worth the wait. You can hit up the candy store across the street while you wait or wak along the beach. Wait Times: I'm sure during the week wait times are shorter, but during the weekends, on busy holiday seasons the wait time can be over an hour. Food. I love the crab claws and raw oysters. The backed ones, not soo much as they aren't Rockefeller. Appetizers are always on point. Ambience: The breeze from the ocean blowing through the windows is soo relaxing. I always meet nice people here. The bartenders are friendly. Con: I've been going to this place for 10 years and it's time they get an intercom to call out names. We love the view at The Back Porch. We were seated within 15 minutes. Our server was Tracy and she did a great job! The crab legs had fantastic flavor and cracked well. My husband loved the fire cracker shrimp tacos. My kids ate the most they have eaten at any other place. It was a great meal for a great price! The only reason for the 4 stars is that we were sat by the bar with our children. There was a group of guest who were literally yelling the f word and very openly groping each other and discussing having affairs. The bar staff was laughing and joking along.
