My fiancé and I went here for happy hour on his birthday on A Thursday. We ordered a beer and whiskey and 3 appetizers all for $21! A good deal! We sat on their deck over the water. Although it was quiet , we enjoyed our time and good service. We will definitely stop by there in the future and would recommend it to others.

    Grilled Red Snapper - awesome!

The grilled red snapper was amazing! You can come here and enjoy the outdoor patio on a warm day. A few good local beers as well. Came here twice during my business trip.

    Side order of fresh fruit!

I had a snapper it was done perfect perfectly. Peggy had a salad and a vegetable plate. Follow up was very good by Chris. He did an outstanding job and checked in just right. I'm writing this now a couple days later and I was thinking about where to go for dinner tonight and then I thought we'll go there again. The reason they had my Mount Gaye rum and Coke it was perfect.

The restaurant is very large with indoor and outdoor dining areas, and it is casual, but classy. Overall, we had a great experience. The host was fine; however, lacked empathy and customer service skills. He was a full 30 seconds ahead of us, and if we wouldn't have been tracking him with our eyes, we wouldn't have known where to sit. By the time we got to the table, he was nowhere to be found; however, the menus were in a pile on the table. Our server, on the other hand, was very pleasant. He was kind, caring and kept us informed and checked in on us frequently. The table shared the crab cakes and the blue crab claws, both of which were very good. Of course, the complimentary hush puppies are definitely a hit as well. For my entree I had the Grouper Louisianne. It was a tasty piece of fish, that came with a great side salad and a super delicious twice baked potato. Other than the host, the other reason for the minus one star, was the unusually long time it took between the salad course and the main course. It was a full 20 minute wait, after we were done with our salads, for the main course to arrive. Otherwise, I would likely try the restaurant again at a future time, if something brought me back to the area.

It looked like a nice, relaxing, elevated restaurant we could relax at after a day of excursions. It really wasn't that. After spending most of our days eating at the themed surf restaurants that decorate with shark heads, surfboards and tiki lights. We had hoped this would be a change, it's really not. It may not be grossly decorated with those tiki-style items, but most certainly is that same type of restaurant. It's not elegant, it's not elevated and its most certainly, not relaxing. The food was very good, the service from our waitress, Savannah was mediocre. She seemed bored or maybe having a bad night and was doing her best to cover it with a smile. We ate up at the skybar which does have a very lovely view. The high-top table and chairs are uncomfortable. My wife and I had to come off the chairs to stand next to the table for a few moments because the chairs were so uncomfortable. As far as their food goes, I had the shrimp tacos. They were made with very fresh tasting ingredients and the shrimp wasdelicious. At least the 2 pieces per taco they came with. Most of what was in the taco was just the filling. $22.00 for two tacos I expected more shrimp. My wife's Grouper Moreno and the conch fritter appetizer were both delicious. Dessert was the salted caramel cheesecake which was good, but ridiculously sweet (as you'd expect it to be) Overall, the food was very good though the tacos could have included more shrimp then they did. The service was just okay. The restaurant itself is nice, but not the quiet relaxing place it looks like on their website. It's just another surf themed style restaurant, without all the gaudy decorations.

A fun detail is that the Destin family and the city of Destin have been closely connected ever since Leonard Destin, Dewey's great-great-grandfather, founded the settlement in 1835. Our server recommended the sheepshead, a local fish species. Until then, I had never even heard of sheepshead, which made the recommendation all the more interesting. We always appreciate tips like that, as trying something new is part of the fun of traveling. It tasted very good, although it was topped with teriyaki sauce and served with remoulade sauce. As a result, you don't really get much of the fish's natural flavor, but as a dish it was very enjoyable. The service was friendly and efficient, and we liked the place so much that we'll definitely be back. It helps that we also find the history behind it fascinating. The menu is quite varied, with plenty of dishes that sound tempting.
