Since my wife is Thai and we have a home there and live in LA, we know authentic Thai food. It was okay and we could easily return next time we're in Big Bear. Just manage your expectations. As someone who eats Thai food regularly, (it's my favorite) I can honestly say this is the worst Thai food I ever had. It doesn't even taste like Thai food. It tastes like bland hospital food. I have tried this place on multiple occasions. Every time few times I visit Big Bear, I try it again in hopes it was just a bad day... but every time I eat here it's just as bad as before, if not worse. We have been to Royal Thai Bistro a few times when visiting Big Bear, we like to order the seafood hot soup and combination fried rice. We are a family of three and were able to share the soup, fried rice & an order of chicken spring rolls. The food overall is good and has flavor. The service is always relatively quick and we've had no bad experiences with the service. The ambiance is casual, there is a lot of indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well. There was a sign that stated dogs are welcome for the outdoor seating, so we are look forward to visiting with our pups one day! read more

Everything about our visit was nice and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch to watch the people come and go, but unfortunately, the food just didn't quite hit the mark. The chicken satay was very generous in portion, but was not as flavorful as hoped. Our server was a super nice young man named David from Nepal. We had a large bowl of tom yum soup, spicy chicken fried rice with basal leaves, yellow curry with chicken, potato and carrots, Yum Woo San and beef salad. We had ordered 2 mango sticky rice and they put it in the same plate. Which was kind of weird to me, because a lot of places I've been to are in separate plates. We visited on 9/27. I'm a big fan of Thai food, but sadly this place missed the mark. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food was very disappointing. The Tom Kha soup was completely tasteless, and the coconut milk sauce had separated, which shouldn't happen if it's prepared correctly. The Pad Thai was even worse--it looked artificially red, as if food coloring was added, and had none of the authentic flavor that Pad Thai should have. Also order the red curry very flavorless. Overall, it feels like the kitchen doesn't quite know what they're doing. Unfortunately, we won't be returning--there are too many other great spots in big bear worth visiting instead. read more

They're eye people sitting and eating at the outside patio, and it looked crowded, but opening the door, there were only 1 table with customers, the rest were empty. Checking out the menu, the prices are pretty standard for Thai Cuisine. We ordered Tom Yum Soup with beef, and grilled beef salad. One thing, the server that took our order seemed kind of grouchy. Maybe that's his personality. Our food arrived fairly quick, first the grilled beef salad. It had an array of fresh vegetables, carrot, cucumber, cabbage, onions etc, but they also had canned sliced mushrooms. Never had it like that before. Also, there was a fair amount of beef, but it was like birds of chopped meat, cooked well done, and a bit tough. The Tom Yum Soup was tasty, but had the same canned mushrooms and the same chopped beef. This place is small but the service was great. Not only the service was great but the food was good! It was raining and we had two little dogs and our baby so we offered to sit outside. The rain started to get us wet including our baby and dogs so the owner made room for us to sit inside! (There were 7 of us!), brought our food inside and our drinks inside for us as well. I agree that the food took a little longer than usual to come out but it was freshly made and was still hot when it was served to us. They gave large portions and we only spent about $65 for four people! This type of meal usually costs us about $100 back in The OC!
