Food was great, service was awesome. We were seated immediately. Old school diner vibe. I would come back and recommend to a friend.

Visiting Big Bear Village for the day (Wednesday afternoon) and wanted to grab breakfast a little away from the main areas. I found this cafe on Yelp and wanted to try a local favorite. We were seated right away by a young man that was very nice - he even came to check on us a few times. Our waitress was okay, nice at the end but seemed to be a little down and impatient in the beginning. We ordered the fried egg sandwich with hash brown, and a French toast combo plate. The food was yummy - I loved the bacon - nice and crispy. The French toast wasn't very sweat, which is how I love it. Though it was a bit watered down, I enjoyed the coffee. Definitely recommend!

I can see why there are so many mixed reviews on here. I always try to give both positive & negative if both are applicable. 1- OJ is awful almost 5 dollars for it. Not real but that fake stuff. 2- expensive for example asked for a pancake to substitute toast was told no and pancake would be $5.00 3- I ordered a French dip for almost $16 and there was only enough roast beef for half the sandwich so I threw out the other half and transferred the meat to one side. 4- patio tables outside are so nice but the noise from the traffic overwhelmingly takes over the ambiance when trying to have a conversation. 5- great & attentive service but did not care to hear our feedback 6- came here bc the title was coffee shop but it had the basic coffee Bo specialties that one would associate with the name 7- clean bathrooms

Chicken fried steak and eggs with hashbrowns ($15.75)

For once, having the mongrels with us helped out, haha. This place was pretty busy the Sunday morning we stopped in, with a big group of people waiting for tables. But when my husband went in to ask about patio seating, they said they'd be able to get us in right away. It was a mild fall morning, and with the patio being covered and a bit of sunshine peeking in, the patio was quite comfortable. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, but it did take her a bit of time to get to our table at the start. We knew we wanted a hearty breakfast to get us through the day, and we both went with the Chicken Fried Steak meal ($15.75), and we both got the eggs and hashbrowns to complete the plate. Then, because you can't deny a craving, we ordered one pancake stack to share. The food definitely filled us up, and it was tasty and comforting to boot. The chicken fried steak was flavorful and crispy underneath the creamy, hearty and meaty gravy. The hashbrowns were cooked almost to perfection (I tend to ask for crispy on both sides, because nothing's worse than a soggy-bottomed stack of hashbrowns; these were crispy on top and crispy-adjacent on the bottom.) The pancake was fluffy and soaked up the syrup - which they serve in a giant jug - perfectly. Overall a great, hearty, homey meal that kept us satiated while we explored the village and surrounding areas that day.

Was good. $14.50 and $14.75 for our meals $4 for coffee. Pretty basic meals. Our waitress was amazing!

Single chocolate Chip pancake, breakfast scramble with hash browns, and a burrito (I built my own) with home fries on the side

I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant and their bar seating! It was really fun, but the food wasn't over the top impressive. It was good, just not top tier. The refried beans were a little watery/chunky for my liking, and I couldn't test any cheese in my burrito (I love chz, lol). I was pleased that they had decaf coffee. Boyfriend said it was his favorite spot though, and appreciated the selection of beers. We loved how big the menu was, likely a good option for ppl with different food preferences. Also posted some photos of the menu bc the prices on the pictures I saw before going were very off (like almost half the current prices!)

    Country House Breakfast Special

This adorable place was just across the street from our hotel on this Labor Day weekend and the breakfast wait was short so we stopped in and were seated immediately. The interior vibe is that of an old school diner / chalet. I saw that a Yelp favorite was the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs ($15.75) and when asked, that was the first thing our waitress recommended. the chicken fry is made from ground beef which is my favorite way to make it and was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection. It comes with hash browns or home fries & toast (I substituted for cottage cheese to lower my carb intake). I got their homemade biscuits & gravy, their house specialty (which completely blew my carb count but when that's their specialty you just gotta do it ) and it was wonderful. The gravy is delicious. And it came out really quick. Girlfriend got the Country House Breakfast Special ($15.95) and comes with 3 bacon or sausage links, 2 eggs with hash browns or home fries and biscuits & gravy. She got bacon and sausage and the bacon was fantastic, the sausage was pretty average. The hash browns were cooked to perfection and were delicious. At the end, girlfriend just couldn't leave without trying the French toast which looked amazing and also came highly recommended and it lived up to the hype! Great job guys - So glad we stopped in!

Martha is the proud owner that was kind enough to take our order n serve us.

The service and friendly staff are so welcoming the food is awesome. This place is a hidden gem must come visit and eat here.. I so enjoyed my breakfast.

    Kids menu - yay!

There were a a handful of people waiting to be seated when we arrived and the couple before us were seated at the last outdoor patio table available. The hostess told us that we could go upstairs to the bar area and sit anywhere we wanted and a server would be with us directly. So that's what we did. As a side note, the whole vibe of the restaurant was very comfortable and the building itself is pretty remarkable. Water and menus were delivered within minutes of us selecting our table, and our waitress Victoria maintained that same level of attentiveness the whole time we were there. The biggest shortcoming of so many restaurants in and around Big Bear is the bar and their specialty drinks. But this place just slam dunked on every other restaurant we've ever tried over the years - and not just for the drinks. I love a good old fashioned but until last night, every place I'd been to served their old fashioned in a glass full of ice like I was getting a soda at a fast food drive through. Not here. A proper big block ice cube made the "Maple old fashioned" (hands down) the best drink I've ever had. (I think they've got like 7 or 8 different varieties of the old fashioned and I will definitely be back to try them.) Our potato skins appetizer was on another level and that was before our entrees even arrived. My beef dip sandwich was perfect as was wifey's chicken Scaloppini. The timing of food arriving and the periodic check-ins from our waitress was flawless. We spoke briefly with the bartender, Doug (who may or may not have been one of the owners) to express how much we enjoyed our drinks and dinner. The hallmark of a well-run restaurant is that everyone who works there conducts themselves like it's their name on the sign out front. That's exactly what we got from everyone involved. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen staff deserves a Michelin star rating. The rest of the staff is equally impressive. I can't say enough about this place. Excellent drinks, excellent food and dynamite service. If you want a top-notch dining experience in Big Bear, this should be your first and only choice. From now on, it'll be mine.

We're a family of four with a well-behaved standard poodle, so we completely understood that our seating options were limited. What we didn't understand was watching two other families with dogs arrive after us and get seated well before us, along with what felt like half of Big Bear. Our "table is ready" text finally arrived 53 minutes after we joined the waitlist. If the real wait is an hour, just say an hour. At least then we could have taken our dog for a hike, grabbed lunch somewhere else, and possibly returned in time for our table.

My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side house salad while I got the scallop fettuccine dish and splurged the $3 extra to get their Caesar salad (totally worth it, made in house). Everything is made to order and each dinner came with a board of homemade bread and house made butter for the table. Folks. That bread. Was So Good. Soft and tasty and the parmesan, garlic, parsley butter melted right on it. There was something that didn't hit my palate right on my dish, so Patty offered to get me something else.
