    Tahiti bowl and Pele bowl.
    Mike S.

Been meaning to come here every time we're in Big Bear. Finally went. So good and so weird. Poke was top shelf. I got the Tahiti bowl. Wifey got the Pele bowl. Might be the best poke I've ever had. Inside is super eclectic, colorful and odd. You order at a touch screen with a creepy Mickey Mouse eared overlord staring at you. Then you sit in or out and they let you know when you're order is ready to pick up. Place is very clean and all the personnel are very friendly and helpful.

I came in skeptical and came out wildly impressed as the food is truly spectacular. Combined with the whimsical interior decor and chill staff, it's no wonder that this place earns the top rating for poke place. The Krakatoa perfectly seasoned poke bowl comes with a generous serving of sashimi grade wild caught ahi, which is so fresh, tender yet succulently tasty bursting with flavors. The small chunks of cucumber are great companions for the ahi cubes, translating every bite into a culinary feast. The Luwow is a great dish for anyone who cherishes pulled pork as it comes with 2 scoops of perfectly cooked rice and refreshing mango salsa. Every dish can be customized to your liking when ordering at one of the 3 digital kiosks. After entering through the shark mouth, there's a Disneyesque line for ordering the food but the nice thing is you can put in drink orders using QR code while in line. Food comes out quickly after you finished putting the order on the machine. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Big Bear.

Vibes ! I love the ambiance :) and the service were great. Super chill people. The food was delicious. I was surprised and i can't wait to go back

Vibes!! From the eccentric island decor to the vibrant lively staff you're in for a good time! It's not a standard dining experience, you walk in and order your food off a screen and they call you up off the mic and you come and get it The drinks are pricey but they're not lacking so I guess it's worth it. The food comes in a container, kinda cafeteria style, but it's super tasty. Overall it's a neat experience and a cool spot for a lunch. Come try em out for yourself!!!

Holy cow!! I have lived in San Diego my entire life and gone to big Bear almost every single winter that I've lived here and somehow I have never heard of this place. I am blown away!! My nephew is an ad Fisherman and I'm used to fresh tasting tuna and tropicali may have my nephews tuna beat. Beyond the absolutely exceptional food. The decor of this place is top-notch and the people working there were absolutely incredible. There is not one thing that I could say that wasn't top-tier about my experience at Tropicali. also want to mention i got the kraken bowl which was the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. drooling thinking about it now !

The vibes are here, the boys up front are hilarious and friendly! It's a self order place with 3 kiosk stations and one line funneling us in. The wait wasn't long, but maybe because we came on a weekday. I ordered the Pele because I wanted to taste the tuna instead of having all these other yummy sauces on top. The ahi tuna is very fresh and tender, definitely get this if you want a more ahi tuna forward dish. My partner had the Cabo and he enjoyed the textures of this bowl. He added extra spice, but it wasn't spicy to us (we have a high spice tolerance). The rice was surprisingly good and everything came together beautifully in this delicious bowl. Definitely not overhyped ! Wash ashore to try this place !

Ambience: 5 stars Poke Bowls: 3 stars Immersive island theme restaurant meets Disney's Tiki Room in Big Bear, the last place you'd probably expect it. We tried the Pele and Kraken poke bowls. I really wanted to like them, but they were just average at best. The tuna was only average quality, I didn't vibe with the sauces - I prefer shoyu or vinegar based more than cream based, there weren't many toppings at all and no acids (citrus, ginger, radish, seaweed) to brighten up the bowls. The service is wonderful and the staff is very well trained and in character the whole time. The ambience and kiosk ordering queue truly feels like you're in Disneyland. Definitely worth a visit, but I'm a bit perplexed by the people who rave about their Poké bowls.

10 stars. Seriously! I was here years ago when it was in a different - smaller location. But they keep upping their game. The space is so fun to hang out at - and you go in and order and your order gets called - "VICTORIA YOUR FOOD JUST WASHED UP ASHORE." Haha they commit to the bit. The food is SO delicious and their coffee is amazing. I wish it wasn't so far for me

This place is such a vibe!! We swung by here as our final meal in Big Bear and I'm so glad we did. They have a small parking lot to the side of the restaurant. As you walk up, you're greeted by a massive shark head and you can spot their fun desert decor like cactus and peach umbrella covers. Instantly you know you're going somewhere fun. When you walk in, you stand in a line to order your food off a screen, and they call your name when your order is ready. There are QR codes so you can order a drink while waiting and you'll be entertained by the quirky surfer bro who's calling out names when people's drinks are ready. Everyone is donned with Hawaiian shirts and look genuinely happy to work there. There's a big outdoor patio with those peach umbrella covers to provide some shade, as well as seating inside. It kinda feels like you're in Disneyland because there's so much decor and so many things to look at. While waiting to order food, I ordered the island style cold brew with macadamia nut milk. It was good! We also got a tropical gangster, a frozen drink with passion orange and guava and it was the perfect drink to sip on for a hot day. For food, we got the pele poke bowl and the cabo poke bowls. The portions weren't big, they come in small bowls, and you're paying about $20 each for them, but they were surprisingly good. Not the best poke ever, but good enough for Big Bear. Both bowls had ahi but different flavorings and toppings. The cabo came with crunchy wonton strips and jalapeños, while the pele came with rice and veggies like cucumbers and peppers. My bf and I split both bowls and we enjoyed them! This is def a must visit if you're in town!

Super cool place, they have so much to offer starting from a big menu of food and drinks, also they do have a big selection of coffee, the place is huge, the have more sitting indoors which is very cool and outdoors is more reduce but also very nice and they have a great view, the line for orders is not so big, it is actually btw 5-10 minutes. The only thing I will probably point out is that from the big selection of food just 2 dishes were not spicy, as a person who doesn't eat spicy I will like to see maybe more selection of mild food, thanks.

This place has such a great, chill, laid-back vibe! We went on a Sunday night, and it was pretty empty, which made for a really relaxed experience. Ordering is done through a kiosk, which was super easy. While we were looking over the menu, an employee noticed we were considering one of the really spicy options and kindly recommended that we go with something else instead. We really appreciated her attentiveness and the recommendation--it ended up being a great choice! They also have free water available inside, which was a nice touch. The drinks were okay, but I did feel like some of the menu items had more coconut than I expected. That's partly on me because I could have asked for it to be removed, but I didn't think it would be as noticeable as it was. Overall, the poke was great, and my boyfriend really enjoyed his food as well. But the waffle was definitely the highlight--it was AMAZING! I included photos with the names of everything we ordered. Overall, a really nice spot with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food. I'd definitely come back!

We spotted this place on our drive up and stopped for lunch. It's really a vibe and fun to experience. You enter and get in line for drinks and food orders from on the large tablets. Food comes out pretty quick too. The decor, menu, and staff are all on point. I wish there were more menu options with veggies but other than that it's fun and great for photos. The view from the patio is the est too!

a must go to spot in big bear! Pretty long line to order at 3 kiosks but food came out super quick. Staff is very friendly and hilarious, and it's such a cool looking place overall with lots of photo ops. I tried the paniolo and it was very good, not spicy at all tho, and more on the sweet teriyaki side.

    No alcohol.

No plan to eat in your car. Patio has no covering and no heaters. Indoor was closed when we were there last 3 weeks ago.

Is it possible to order & pick up without waiting inside? I came by but the interior line in a cramped space didn't seem safe with COVID.

Yes! My go-to is the Pele Bowl on a bed of cucumbers instead of rice.

We stopped in at around 7 pm on a Sunday night, and they were completely empty. The staff was kind of hanging out watching the game on the TV hanging above the bar, but they snapped to when we walked in, immediately welcoming us and offering us any table in the space. We told them we were hoping for a to-go order, and they gave us menus and invited us to sit while we pondered our meal. I got the Beef Teriyaki and tempura combo, my husband got the Tonkotsu and sashimi combo. We then added on two sushi rolls, because we are gluttons, and I love me some sushi. My husband stayed inside the restaurant to wait for the food while I returned to the car to wait with the pups. It did take a bit of time for the food to come out, but when my husband returned to the car with a box full of to-go containers smelling delightfully of charred meat and fried foods, I didn't mind at all. The food did not disappoint; it was freshly cooked (or rolled) and hearty. The tempura was crispy and just slightly oily, which was a delight to eat. The teriyaki beef was tender and flavorful, with a slight char that added to the flavor. The rolls were filling and fresh. My husband loved his tonkatsu and the sashimi (which he surprised me by getting, he's not usually a sashimi guy). He said the pork was cooked well and the breading was nicely crunchy. I'm not ashamed to say we ate every scrap of rice and fish we brought home that night. I wish we had been able to dine in, the staff was friendly and the dining room was open and bright. But, we couldn't leave the dogs in the car (or at the cabin) alone that long, so it was nice to have the option to get it to go.

Unfortunately, this visit felt very different. We arrived around noon, and the restaurant was completely empty. They had several TVs, so I asked if they could put on the World Cup. Our waitress declined, explaining that when games are on, customers tend to stay long after they've finished eating. While I understand that may be their policy, it didn't feel very customer-friendly, especially with no other patrons in the restaurant. I also asked if there was an outlet where I could charge my phone. When we found a nearby table with a wall plug, I asked if we could switch tables since we'd only been served water. The waitress said it would be "too confusing for the system" because our orders had already been placed, despite the restaurant being empty. She did offer to charge my phone from an outlet in the hallway, which I appreciated. I asked if they had a few of our favorite sushi items--things like a Las Vegas roll, Orange Blossom roll, or salmon collar (all very common at sushi restaurants back home in Las Vegas). The response seemed more confused than helpful, and overall the interaction just didn't feel very welcoming. On the positive side, they brought out complimentary shishito peppers and radish as an appetizer, which was a nice touch. My daughter really enjoyed the salmon teriyaki, and we also liked the chicken teriyaki roll. At the end of the meal, we had to flag someone down for our check and for to-go boxes while the staff was busy cleaning tables. We were handed a wet plastic bag to pack up our leftovers, which was an odd way to end the experience. Overall, the food was better than the customer service. We'd still consider stopping again because the food is decent, but we hope the hospitality improves. A more welcoming attitude would go a long way.

To be clear, I have absolutely no issue with restaurants allowing dogs in designated outdoor patio areas. That is completely different from what happened here. A customer brought her dog inside the women's restroom, pulled out a dog pad, placed it on the restroom floor, and allowed the dog to relieve itself inside a shared customer restroom. I had to literally shimmy past the woman and her dog to get out of the restroom while my mother-in-law was still inside. I immediately reported what was actively occurring to approximately five employees who were gathered together at the bar inside the restaurant. Instead of anyone going to address the situation, they simply stood there. No one appeared to take any action while the woman and dog were still in the restroom. After seeing that nothing was being done, I had to approach the employees a second time. Only then was I told they would "have to tell our boss." At that point, my mother-in-law was still inside the restroom, which made the complete lack of urgency even more frustrating. My concern is not simply that a dog was inside the restaurant. There is a major difference between being pet-friendly and allowing someone to intentionally use a dog pad so their dog can relieve itself inside a customer restroom. That is an extremely unsanitary situation, particularly in a food-service establishment. What made the experience unacceptable was that multiple employees were made aware of the situation while it was actively occurring and still did not immediately address it. Customers should not have to repeatedly ask restaurant staff to intervene when something this obviously inappropriate and unsanitary is happening in a shared restroom. Management needs to seriously review both its policies regarding animals inside the establishment and how employees are expected to respond when customers report sanitation concerns. Being dog-friendly is one thing. Allowing a restroom to be used this way and then showing virtually no urgency when it is reported is something entirely different.

Full review @itsamandachamberlain Came here looking for a…read moresolid sushi spot and honestly didn't expect it to hit like this. The fish tasted fresh, portions were good, and everything came out pretty quick even though they were busy. All you can eat is the way to go n We ordered a mix of rolls, plus some appetizers, and nothing missed. The sushi had a good balance--not too much rice, not overloaded with sauce, just clean flavors. Service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The place itself is pretty casual, but that actually adds to the vibe. If you're in the area and want reliable sushi without overpaying, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. I'd come back.

Kind and decently fast service. Though the menu says "Sushi/Nigiri", they only serve nigiri. It was…read morea nice touch that we received dessert on the house, which was a matcha ice cream! 6/5 - Sexy Salmon (back) - Savory and delicious, and the star of our meal. The sear was perfect, and the green onion topping and sauce, along with the small slice portions made this easy and fun to eat. Definitely try this in your first round! 5/5 - Shooting Star (front) - Very savory and delicious! If you like the cajun flavor with the spicy aioli sauce, this won't disappoint. The crunch from the tempura shrimp with the texture profile of the crab and rice makes this a very satisfying roll! 5/5 - Carpaccio - This was actually one of the best carpaccio dishes I had gotten, and I think it is due to the seasoning. You only get one order per person which is typical of other AYCE sushi places, but definitely something to savor! 5/5 - Bluefin Tuna - This is limited to one order per customer, but it was the first time I had eaten a bluefin tuna at an AYCE restaurant that tasted like bluefin tuna from Japan. This is more toro than chutoro/otoro, however it did have that distinct bluefin tuna taste. Impressed! 4/5 - Dynamite - Interesting baked roll dish. Served under a small flame that dies out, it was a very savory, easy-to-eat dish with chopsticks. However, it felt a bit overcooked by the end of the flame, which understandably can be hit-or-miss. Definitely try it out, as this kind of dish is typically rare in AYCE restaurants. 5/5 - Del Rosa and East Highland - These are both the same No Rice Roll just with different wraps. The fish serving was generous and we were impressed! The sauce complemented both perfectly. 4/5 - X-Girlfriend and X-Boyfriend - Pretty much the same No Rice Roll but with different fish. Kind of tastes the same from the other No Rice Rolls so I would just get one order to try it out. 3/5 - O.M.G., Pizza, and SBD Hill - About the same flavor profile with the creamy sauce with the seafood that is placed on top of California rolls. You can probably do with just one of these rolls whichever appeals to you. Of course, it is not exactly the same, but we didn't really care to figure out which was which as we were eating it. 2/5 - Flying Dragon - Was not particularly impressed with this dish. There was a lot of rice served for a thin slice of eel and white fish. The sliced onion was OK, and it did not seem to complement the dish significantly. It seemed more like a separate item placed on top of the roll. 3/5 - Cajun Tuna Nigiri - Decent tuna nigiri. I thought the slices were very thin, so the sear actually went through the whole fish rather than just at the surface which would have made a two-texture profile bite. However, it just seemed dry due to the seared thin slice. 3/5 - Cajun Salmon Nigiri - Same issue with the cajun tuna nigiri. It was seasoned well with the cajun, but the thin slice of the salmon made the sear more of a "cook" rather than a seared surface. 4/5 - Regular Salmon Nigiri - Typical salmon nigiri flavor with regular portion of rice. I think it is beaten out my other AYCE sushi restaurants that are generous with their fish portion and provide minimal rice. 1/5 - Shrimp Boat - This dish was very disappointing. While it is advertised as shrimp with crab meat, our whole group found that it was an overwhelming amount of crab meat and could barely pick out the shrimp. Difficult to finish especially in the 2nd half of our meal. Granted due to being a tempura roll, it was served later. 1/5 - Lobster Ball - This dish was also disappointing. While it is advertised as lobster with crab meat, we barely found a difference between this and the shrimp boat aside from shape. Even with the pictures, the size was larger than we expected. Difficult to finish especially in the 2nd half of our meal. Granted due to being a tempura roll, it was served later. 3/5 - Calamari - Huge portions but could have been salted more. Good crunch but I would hesitate on finishing this portion because you might get full! 3/5 - Shrimp Tempura - We ordered 4 orders of this and only received one order (2 pieces). Decent fry and could also be salted a bit more.
