I can't believe this hasn't been yelped yet (maybe I missed it in my search?)…read more My kids hit the pandemic right at the age where they would have probably started swim lessons, and we didn't end up doing it; so, they were both behind on swimming ability, and my younger one (currently age 7) really didn't like the water at all. After my son had a scary incident in a friend's pool, we were more motivated to get started, and signed up both kids last summer (2022). I didn't know what to expect at all, but we've been really thrilled with the program. We do the classes at North Ormewood Park, which is a private residence who rents their pool out for these (ironically I had been to this pool before when I had rented it on swimply! that was a cool coincidence because it made my younger one a bit less scared to go). This pool is a mile from my house, which is fantastic. I think all the classes are at outdoor pools but I'm not totally sure about this. The regular sessions are two weeks each, M-W, half hour back to back, from beginner and increasing in levels until the latest / most advanced class. The kids practice together, with lots of individualized attention (I think it's a 2:1 instructor ratio) and then get a sticker. They have a groupme for communication and lightning delays. They will try to delay if they can, but can reschedule on Thursday if they have to cancel entirely. If it's raining but not lightning, you WILL swim! I think the M-W 2 week program is really perfect for our family because it's only a 2-week commitment at a time, and the 3-days in a row piece gets the kids to learn faster. My daughter basically went from not being able to tread water to full on swimming in a single 2-week session. But she LOVES being in the water; my son is a bigger challenge because he didn't naturally like the water as much, doesn't like putting his face underwater, etc. But this 2nd year he's made a ton of progress and is self-motivated to practice at the pool outside of lessons. Their website can be a bit overwhelming to follow, but they are so flexible and responsive. The first time I signed up I had no idea what level to put my kids in. I was worried that my son's level of swimming was matched up with an age level starting at like, age 2, which would potentially be embarrassing for him. They gave me a suggestion over email, and then my daughter was a bit more advanced than that so they let her come to the later class instead. Likewise this session, my son signed up for a class that wound up being too advanced for him, and he's getting a ton of individual attention, but they let him try the earlier class and it seems a better fit - he's still on the older end of that class but it doesn't seem at all a problem. And the instructors are so cute with them, and everyone is so pleasant to work with. We'll continue with water wings until our kids are confident swimmers!

After working with Jai and her team, I found them to be motivating, pushing me all the way to the end, encouraging and honest in letting me know where I need to improve. They payed great attention and remained focused on my form. Teaching me how to do every exercise properly and informing me when I deviated from that, to insure that I wouldn't cause any type of injury. At the same time, they were very gentle in the process. If you're willing to do the work, they will definitely guide you to a better you.

This pool just opened at the MLK Jr Middle School in the Grant Park neighborhood to replace the now…read moreclosed MLK Natatorium on Blvd. This pool is a partnership between APS and City of Atlanta. The price is the same as it used to be - $4 per visit unless you want to pay $110 for the year for full use of all city natatoriums/gyms. There is free parking in the neighborhood (the school is on Hill Street) and lap swimming is open to the public during non-school times. There are locker rooms with showers onsite. Aerobic classes as well as swim team practice will be beginning soon. There is no gym here, unlike the now closed natatorium, but there is a new gym facility at the Grant Park Recreation Center inside of Grant Park.

Mathnasium of Smyrna has given Lourdham the confidence to explore and ask questions. The staff over the years has always been helpful and knowledgeable and always attentive. I am grateful to the Director Ms. Shalini for providing a location that really cares about Lourdham's growth in the subject of math. Lourdham is now a junior in high school and as we prepare for the SAT exam I have no doubt that Ms Shalini and the team at Mathnasium of Smyrna will make every effort to help Lourdham achieve high marks on the exam. We were so impressed with our scuba cert program through SpringAdventures!…read more Honestly, when we hit the targeted ads, we were a little dubious because of some of the web design choices, and how low the prices were. SO GLAD we took a chance. It's a one-man operation, and he's incredible. His prices are all in, and he really does knock it out in just 2 days with great flexible local dives near the High Springs area. If you have a special request, just call him - he was able to add our NitrOx cert as well on the fly. I was blown away watching this man transition from charismatic comedy, making learning fun but still hitting all the key points, right into suddenly supportive teacher mode when we were in the practical portions and he was helping a student who was struggling, using a disarming compassionate demeanor. At least in our session, class sizes were very small, and he not only equipped us mentally for our scuba expeditions, but he gave us incredible insight and recommendations beyond the certification on what kind of gear to look for, good habits, inside tips for the industry. Just 11/10. He also does have gear available for sale, customized to the diver, which is I assume how he keeps his prices so low, but he wasn't pushy at all and advised us for what we NEEDED not what he sold. I was actively trying to buy gear from him, and he advised me that I might need something special and that also some other websites unrelated to him are having a pretty good sale right now so he chose our equipment and savings over his own revenue. Just couldn't be more impressed. (Also, if you come down here for just the class from out of town, I highly recommend the "getaway" tiny home cabins nearby for lodging. They're clean, super cheap, nice close by, and easy. Including two nights lodging, you could get your scuba cert here for like a thousand or $1,200 cheaper than you can in most major cities.

My little guy and our family love Grow! He started back in March 2020 but was only there for…read moreliterally 9 days before COVID-19 turned our world upside down. During the time that the school was closed to in-person learning, it was decided that there would be a virtual learning option where packets would be available for pickup at the end of the week and all materials and lessons would be in the packet to help guide us clueless parents on what to do. There were bi-weekly zoom calls with my son's teacher, Ms. Jasmine, and I appreciated all of her guidance during that time and how easy it was to communicate with her. When the discussion started regarding whether or not the school would open for in-person learning, I loved that there was a townhall meeting for all parents/guardians to ask questions and voice our concerns. We received very detailed communication about how things would look when, and if, school reopened and this helped calm my fears a lot. Now that in-person learning has been back in session for more than a month and a half, I must say that I truly feel everyone has done a wonderful job keeping our little ones safe. The class sizes are super small (of which I absolutely love) and my son's teacher is just the sweetest and the best teacher I could ask for. This little 21-month-old is a ball of energy and she keeps him busyyyyy and updates us with things that he is doing in class and I never wonder whether or not he's okay because she is always reaching out letting my husband and I know what he's doing/has done in class. The skills that he has learned in this short period back has been amazing and being someone who loved her Montessori based education as a child, I am thrilled and sooooo thankful to have Grow Montessori. If you're looking for childcare that is literally going to help your child grow, and a staff that is truly compassionate, kind, devoted to the children they serve, this is the place for you.
