NOT SO FAST OLD MAN! The good folks at Sullivan told me the tire couldn't be repaired because the screw was too close to the sidewall. What they didn't know is that I knew exactly where the screw was. It was well within the tread. But they REALLY wanted to help with my problem, and offered to sell me one tire, for nearly $400. Installed I assume, or maybe not. So, I took my leak elsewhere. Got it repaired for $40 and made a friend. The man has been in the tire business for decades, and just shook his head when I told him the story. Here's the thing: I never begrudge a man a day's pay, but do not try to take advantage of me. I'm too old and I worked too f***ing hard for my pension to get porked because the rubber merchants had a slow day. Sullivan Tire will reply, bleating their side of the story. And that's fine. I've been a customer of TW for over 30 years, so I popped on in. They had a pretty good price for the two tires I needed, but being a non-profit, I inquired if they could do even better. The certainly did and were extremely helpful about it. Literally, everything about the interaction was one of the most positive experiences I have had at the retail level in ages. I was greeted at the door by a man installing tires. He was friendly and welcoming. Inside at the counter, more of the same (a second man), something that doesn't always happen in the world of automotive parts/service. Beyond that, he set up our non-profit in his system so we could continue to receive those benefits on future purchases. The waiting room was clean, comfortable, and had a bathroom available (also clean). The only other customer while I was there, a middle-aged woman, had repairs done to her tire which were explained clearly and completely by the first employee who had greeted me. She had questions that made it apparent she was not fully savvy about cars/tires. He was very patient and thorough in his explanation did so without talking down to her (another thing that is fairly UNcommon in this business). TW has always treated me right in terms of price, but the service at the Somersworth location is far-and-away the best I have seen at any business of this type. Do not hesitate!

A few days ago, I noticed that my back left tire was flat, so I brought the tire in to determine what could have caused it to go flat. There was no evidence of a leak, but when pressure was placed on the sidewall of the tire, air leaked out between the rim and the tire itself. My understanding is that an issue like this is caused by improper installation, causing the seal between the rim and the tire to slowly lose it's integrity and allow air to leak out. I asked for the cost of a replacement tire to be covered by the establishment, being that I just purchased this tire less than a year ago, and improper installation has resulted in the need to purchase yet another new tire. They would have secured my repeat business if they had handled this properly, as I fully understand that mistakes happen. As long as accountability is taken for those mistakes, that is the mark of a great business. Unfortunately, I was met with an incredibly rude manager who was not willing to collaborate on coming up with a solution to this problem. I will not be taking my business here in the future, and I hope that sharing this experience prevents others from going through the same thing.
