I thanked the woman, whose name is Amanda for calling back, however I live about an hour south of Boston, and that was just too far for me to go. I did have some questions, which she very kindly answered for me, and we communicated back and forth for a while. Even though Amanda knew that I would not be buying a vehicle from her dealership she continued to provide me with all the information I sought. That is certainly great customer service. I negotiated with the dealer online and we were genuinely close to a deal. The only "next step,"…read morethey said, was to see my trade in person. They even hinted they could sweeten the deal. So I went in. Two hours later, the deal wasn't sweeter. It was $5,000 worse. After I'm already there, already invested, already waiting... they knocked $5,000 off my trade value. Not a little adjustment. Not "hey we found something." Five thousand dollars. The only thing that got sweetened was their margin. The whole experience felt like old-school pressure tactics: stall, wear you down, change the terms, act surprised when you don't smile and sign. I was also told multiple things by Joe that didn't match what we had already agreed to online, which made it hard to trust anything being said. What's wild is they still expected me to accept a deal that got $5k worse after I showed up. That's not negotiating. That's bait-and-switch energy. I walked. I went to another local Toyota dealer and got a deal $1,000 better than the original quote from this dealer -- and the entire experience was smoother, more transparent, and more respectful. I'll be a customer at Toyota in Dover going forward. I will never do business with this dealer in Epping.
