Since I was a previous customer, with a different vehicle, ($1200 spent) I had no second thoughts about returning to Sullivan Tire in Dover for a quick screw removal and patch/plug for my less than 10k miles old tire. NOT SO FAST OLD MAN! The good folks at Sullivan told me the tire couldn't be repaired because the screw was too close to the sidewall. What they didn't know is that I knew exactly where the screw was. It was well within the tread. But they REALLY wanted to help with my problem, and offered to sell me one tire, for nearly $400. Installed I assume, or maybe not. So, I took my leak elsewhere. Got it repaired for $40 and made a friend. The man has been in the tire business for decades, and just shook his head when I told him the story. Here's the thing: I never begrudge a man a day's pay, but do not try to take advantage of me. I'm too old and I worked too f***ing hard for my pension to get porked because the rubber merchants had a slow day. Sullivan Tire will reply, bleating their side of the story. And that's fine. I had a diagnostic done and Sullivan said I had an electrical issue, which was incorrect. They charged me $191 for the diagnostic and said they couldn't fix my car. I went to another repair shop and it was actually a brake leak. Given their mistake, Sullivan was able to refund my $191 due to their incorrect diagnostic. read more

Requested an oil change, tire rotation and alignment for my RAV 4 on Saturday May 18 for a date of Saturday May 25th. I arrived a little bit before my scheduled time, Was greeted by customer service and they got me in right away. I was out of there by 11:25 a.m. My first time at the Sanford store but, was very satisfied with the work, Had a waiting room area with complimentary kcup coffee, television and magazines to pass time. Unfortunaty, I cannot recommend Sullivan Tire. My experience was dangerous and disappointing. I have been a loyal customer for years. I purchased a car in December and trusted Sullivan to complete all work on the vehicle. Recently, I brought it in multiple times and reported a squeaky sound. A sensor and belt were replaced but I was told the cause of the sound could not be identified and my car was all set. Just a couple weeks later my car literally fell apart due to extreme rust while I was driving with my child! AAA towed it to a certified dealership that said they immediately identified extreme rust on the bottom of my car, so bad it resembled Frosted Flakes! I was not charged for a diagnostic because they could see this straight away and they were unable to repair it. They also said they questioned how anyone could have completed work on it in the months I had owned it and not noticed?! Had I known the truth, I never would have invested money in the car, and more importantly, never would have risked my family's safety. When I requested a refund for the work done over the last 8 months since Sullivan (erroneously) passed it for inspection, I only received a partial refund. I had to be persistent to maintain communication regarding this issue as well. read more

Staff was nice at the front, but was not happy with what they did during my oil change. They took off my tires to inspect my brakes when I did not ask them to do anything but an oil change. Came back with a quote of $680 to fix my rear brakes and rotors, which I decided to get a second opinion on. Sullivan Tire told me they were fairly close to failing inspection, but the official Subaru dealership told me they were in almost perfect condition and they did not reccomend doing any work on them, as it was a newer car with 20k miles on it. I'm assuming this is because I am a 20ish year female, who they think they could rip off. Will be going someone else for my oil change. read more

So I first need to say...that everyone I dealt with were very nice....I felt that they listened to me...my concerns for my car, etc. I went in with my engin light was on....I knew something was wrong with my thermostat.....and I had an oil leak somewhere. Sullivan Tire did a whole diagnostic on it $165.00. Long story short...they "fixed" the car. The engine light was no longer on. But only to have it come back on the next day. So, almost $2000.00 later, I'm back as square one. I do need to take some accountability, I guess, because I didn't look over the invoice/ fine print before I paid the bill. I paid over the phone. I trusted them....my mistake. I learned a hard lesson, lol. They put new wipers on the car when they weren't needed, along with other stuff that I didnt need. I made an appointment for June 23rd to have a state inspection done on my car at Sullivan Tire in Dover NH. When the inspection was completed, I was told the numerous things wrong with the car that had to be corrected before it would pass inspection. The total cost of the repairs was $4750, new exhaust, new rack and pinion steering etc. I felt this was a lot of money so I opted for a second opinion from a private mechanic. The second estimate was $811. I have no idea why Sullivan Tire was so far off. I read online where someone had the same thing happen to his mother. She also was an 80 year old like myself. I hit a curb and ended up getting a small slash in my tire sidewall. I did some research online and decided to go for the first time with Sullivan Tire & Auto. I was able to order my tire online, and request a appointment on a Sunday afternoon. Within minutes of requesting a appointment, I had it scheduled for the next day. I also included a oil change service as well. I went in, gave them the info about my tire, and left. A few hours later they called me letting me know my car was ready. When I arrived I noticed that my slashed tire was still on the car. I went in and explained the issue, and they immediately took action. A simple mistake of doing the wrong tire. That's life, it happens. Within 20 minutes I was on my way. I would return to them again because they put the customer first, and acknowledged their mistake. read more

Avoid at all costs! Brought my car in for a check engine light and needed a gasket replaced. After receiving service the car (which has never leaked oil) began leaking oil profusely. The garage then tried to say the vehicle was in need of a head gasket replacement (which had already been replaced 20k miles before, the previous year). Towed the vehicle to a different garage in town (without any backstory aside from "it's leaking oil, BAD") they confirmed exactly my thoughts that the gasket at sullivan had been installed improperly, causing the catastrophic leak. Find a good local mechanic and save yourself the headache. Tires I bought were fairly priced last year, there I said something nice too. read more

I brought my 13yo Volvo with a modest vibration at speed that was worsening over the past 6 months. I had already replaced one CV axle myself (which certainly needed replacing) but as that did not completely eliminate the vibration I was going to have them balance the tires to ensure that was not the issue before I went forward with replacing the other one. They were extremely helpful, took the car for a test drive, checked out suspension, and gave me their opinion that a tire balance would be a waste of money. They agreed with my intention to replace the other CV axle and sent me on my way -- no charge!! A helpful diagnostic opinion from an experienced mechanic who wants you to avoid paying for something you don't need is something we can all appreciate. Thank you Sullivan Tire. read more

I'm disappointed because I have used Sullivan Tire at other locations and been very happy but will never go back to this one. The only two times I have gone to this location, was to get an oil change, tire rotation and inspection sticker. They failed the inspection saying I needed a tie rod end and ball joints. The oil change: instead of removing the old sticker on the windshield, they just put the new on next to the old one. (Are they going to keep doing this every oil change?) I went somewhere local, (another Sullivan Tire location) and they said it just needed ball joints and they repaired the ball joints. However, I needed to take the car back to Dover once the repair was done so they can pass it and put an inspection sticker on. I took the car back to ST Dover and got it inspected, while there I had them repair a brake light that went out after the inspection. They sent me on my way and I noticed a few weeks after when I went into my trunk, they never put the car back together and there were bulbs all over the trunk. I just had one bulb out..... Not sure why there were so many in the trunk.... Such careless slack!! Makes you wonder what is happening when things are not obvious? read more

I have been bringing my cars here for 15 years, and they have always always provided excellent service at reasonable prices. I've never felt taken advantage of or been pushed to buy something I didn't need. They are always willing to show you a problem and explain things. Today, they really made my day. My battery died at the gas station, second time in 2 days, so it was time for a new one. I got a jump start and headed straight over, expecting to sit and wait a few hours. I was in and out with a brand new battery in a half hour. Bonus points for free wifi with a good enough signal that I could work remotely from the waiting room on my laptop. My Daughter goes to UNH and I sent her to the Dover NH store for four new tires. I called first and worked with a nice gentleman on tire selection, price, etc. This was in late summer (2022). Two days after she drove off the lot, she had a low tire pressure warning on the front passenger tire. I told her to go back and they simply put air in it. I have had to add air to this tire consistently since new. I sent her back again today with this exact message for them and they acknowledged the right front tire was much lower than the others and they simply put air in it and told her to "keep an eye on it". This is extremely frustrating. I would have expected given the frequency of having to add air to it since new, they would have at least checked the valve stem or the seal. My guess is the tire is not mounted correctly on the rim. My daughter has no clue and barely tells me about the low pressure light. This is dangerous. I have to discover it when she is home from school and I add air. I will take it somewhere else over Christmas break and pay for someone to remove it from the rim, remount it, balance it and put on a new valve stem. 2013 VW Tiguan. read more

run - dont walk - to find another tire place. placed order for tires SIX weeks before my install date. the day before my appt finally arrives, I get a call asking for my tire specs - which is odd, considering the guy entered all of that into the system 6 weeks ago, right? show up the date of the appt first thing - tire hadn't been ordered. tires were brought in afternoon shipment from another location and i got my car back only a few minutes before close. 10 hours of waiting when it should have taken a fraction of that time. no apology. no nothing. i wasted an entire day because someone didn't do their job. never again, Sullivan Tire - used to bring my car to you guys and tell my friends how great you are - that story has now changed. if i could leave less than one star, i would. read more

When I called Sullivan, Johnny went the extra mile to locate what I wanted, scheduled an appointment for two days later, and told me he'd let me know if they didn't arrive in time so he could reschedule me for the following day. He completed the transaction on the phone and made sure I got everything I asked for (warranties, etc.) so when I got there it was all written up perfectly. Won't recommend or ever go back. We dropped my daughters car off for the day to get an inspection. She is 16, when she went to pick up the car they were rude and in her opinion a little aggressive to her because they couldn't get in touch with me earlier when the car didn't pass inspection. She was very upset when she called me after leaving. She is a kid! I don't appreciate any person being rude or disrespectful to her! You want to be rude, you take it up with me. And for what not being able to answer their 1 call??? I work at a hospital and don't have access to my phone every minute of the day. They said they tried me multiple times however there was only 1 missed call and voice mail on my phone. When I called back they were also rude to me and acted like I was putting them out by asking what was wrong with the car. I can't fix something I don't know or understand. I had to ask 3 times for them to please tell me what was wrong that it didn't pass. My sons car didn't pass at a different garage and they gave us a temporary sticker to give us time to get the repairs done. When I asked about this I was told 1. Get the repairs done in 30 days 2. Pay for another inspection 3. Go somewhere else Well guess what, I'm going somewhere else and will be sure to be very vocal about how horrible your customer service skills are. I've been to Sullivan tire in Dover a few times in the past and have never had an issue. I'm sure there are plenty of other places that would love our business What a waste of our time and $45! I'm only writing this for the people who may not know a deal about cars. This establishment will try to tell you that something is wrong, "your rear brake pads are metal to metal" though no noise when I drove it in. They turned my lights off so I wouldn't notice that they didn't replace my license plate light bulb until I turned the lights on. Be very weary of this location. Anyone can be trained to change tires but this place preys on people who may fall for some words that sound like something is wrong. Beware. read more

Totally different experiences with staff from being greeted right off the batt, to a very non-sales pitch approach to the business. I swear I can't get a freakin oil change without getting slammed with $1000 bucks of other problems that "need to be fixed now"

Brought my car in for a state inspection. I was told that I had a headlight bulb out, and that it, because it's a Volvo, it would take an hour and a half to fix it because the bulb is, "Really buried in there." I told the guy at the desk that I could replace that bulb in 6 minutes with no tools whatsoever, and, if he wanted, I could show him how to do it. They replaced the bulb charging me 15 minutes of labor. If this was my elderly mother, for example, she would have paid their labor rate while they did nothing. I'm lucky I knew what was going on. Went to Sullivan tire today. I had ordered a replacement bulb from amazon for my headlight thinking I could replace it myself. That was a mistake. After about 20 minutes of trying to play around with the bulb that was currently in there nag googling "how to" videos in the freezing cold I gave up and drove to Sullivan tire they took me in right away and it only cost $10 and some chafe plus I was out if there in less than 15 minutes!!!!!! Called a few months ago and spoke with Keith He spent at least 20 minutes answering questions about tires for our every day driver, a 2012 Sonata. Needed tires that would make this thing go in the snow. Called again last Saturday. Discussed for another 10 minutes, agreed on the tires I wanted got a decent price. Brought the car in on Monday did the tires, FE alignment and state inspection. No upsell as others have mentioned. Just great service, prompt and professional work. Way to come through last minute! My tire gauge sensor went on in the middle of a small road trip across the state.
