I'm local and support local however Roy's Fishing Supply probably has THE WORST service topped with arrogance. They don't value customers. It's as if you don't exist or you're in their way. I've been visiting all of the local fishing stores and made it to Roy's. They have one of the better selections of rods and I ended up buying 2. The prices for the rods were $10-$15 less than other stores. I also picked up a Shimano reel and it was $36 less than other stores. I did read other reviews about poor customer service but this was not my experience. During my two visits the service was fine. read more

Still the same old shop with the same old customer service lmao Refused to shop here since my last review but I was in the area and decided to just pick up a few small things...definitely not doing that again. I seen some other reviews on here saying "just smile say hello, it's their house, you're not important, don't act entitled" load of bs if you ask me. You run a business your customers should be the most important thing to you. I am a very friendly and outgoing person but the customer service these guys have is crazy and I'll be glad when they go out of business. First thing I did when I entered the store was say hi and wave. No one acknowledged me, yet no one was actually busy, they were all just standing there twiddling their thumbs. Then I walk around to grab what I wanted to grab and the entire time the old dude sitting at the counter, is giving me stink eye as if I'm an inconvenience to them by being there. My 14 year old grandson purchased a $163 dollar pole only to find it defective when he got home. He went to Roys to try and exchange it two days later and was told no. The owner said that he needed to contact the manufacturer for help. When I asked the owner to do the right thing and exchange the pole (which was never used) she started yelling! buyer beware! No exchange or return policy but just know that you're out of luck if you ever need it! Shame on them. read more

Careful buying gift cards from here they don't honored them. We had the receipt and tried to use our card and they said it was already used it's a yr old. Was looking for a 12' whipping pole for menpachis so gave them a call. When I asked if they had any in stock, the gentleman who answered sounded like he did not want to be bothered. He said "I don't know." He then said, "I think so." I then asked him the price and he proceeded to say, "Oh I dunno cuz we get plenty different kinds." I did him a favor and hung up. Needless to say, I won't be stepping foot in this store; customer service over the phone was sub-par so I'm guessing in-person won't be much better. read more

I come here for certain fishing supplies, mainly things like lead, swivels and hooks. The price on these items are reasonable, compared to other places. Other items are comparable to other places. The service is what brings down the rating. No matter when and how often I come, all the workers act as if you are disrupting them and they do not seem happy to help you. When in the town area, I go to POP Marine by Nicos. The service there is very friendly and helpful, much different than Roy's. read more

I see alotta negative reviews about this place but I've been coming here for probably a year since I started fishing. One I thing I think people need to realize is that Roys has probably been here longer than alotta people been fishing and you get what you give in terms of respect. They've probably seen and dealt with all types of people from all walks of life and they're people too so realize theyre not perfect but Roy, Sandy and Dennis have always been respectful and curtious with me. They are also honest about gear, helping pick out items, explaining differences, dropping knowledge and techniques. I believe Jensen Kona said it best in one of his videos: "If you wana get the full experience out of your local tackle shop be patient and come in respectful and humble" (You're not that important, so don't act entitled, you're stepping into their house act accordingly, smile and say hi) They have a massive inventory for both inshore and off the boat. Everything from lead to lures, fly tying material, soft plastics, skirts, tackle bags, and tabis. Not to mention, they're one of a few shops in the country and only one on island as a certified Shimano repair. If you read the reviews and get scared, give them a chance. Came in on Black Friday to get a Nitro Ulua pole. It was pretty busy but it was easy enough to go in and out. I was gonna get my reel spooled but decided to go tomorrow in hopes that it wasn't busy. I went at about 10am the next day and It wasn't busy at all. I was helped immediately. I asked for 60# test and was provided with different brands and color of mono to choose from. After I picked the employee got straight to work. I browsed around and before I knew it my reel was finished. It was .5 cents a yard with a total of 475 yards. I paid about 23 dollars. Definitely will go back to get my other reels spooled. read more

Finally narrowed down to two but I had another question so I headed to the check out. The guy who helped me was there along with a local lady who helped me with checking out. I my question to her and she was nice and searched the inventory on the computer to see if they had this one specific pole. She was very nice and friendly. Was able to talk to the guy who services the reels, nice guy gave me insights of where to lube the reels, how to rinse your reels, fyi $25 for servicing of standard size reels, the higher end ones cost more to service. Locally owned, so I would expect better service from a local owner. I'm very disappointed because I've shopped here before. Last visit there, the owner told me parking in front of the store is for customers only, even though I explained I am and HAVE been shopping at his store many times prior. There is a sign no parking but no sign explaining a vehicle will be towed, even though it was threatened it could happen. Been there a few times over the past few years to get ammunition. Like what other reviews say, customer service is hit or miss. A lady that works there is pretty nice, but there's one guy I see there consistently that just trips me out. One time I was looking at ammo for several minutes and the guy never once came over to ask if I had questions-even though I was the only guy in the store at the time. I had to go to him and ask, and even then, he looked like I was bothering him, even though he was not doing much. One time I said something nice to the guy and his response was so rude I just left. I saw a review saying you should be "humble" when go into the store; being respectful is one thing-being expected to take bad attitude for no reason because you're "not worthy"? Yo! That old lady is so rude! I I just wanted to buy a net to scoop my aquarium fish. I called and asked if they carry nets with mesh material that don't damage the fish as much. Roys is a great place for all fishing supplies! But I usually stop buy for reloading supplies and ammo. Not a huge selection of ammo, but they most common calibers in stock with the best prices. Primers are dirt cheap! Gold medal match small and large primers are $20+ cheaper than most places. Customer service isn't the greatest, but well worth the trip! read more
