I've been to this shop more than 6 times in the last 6 years and was giving the younger lady a chance to show some courtesy, even buying something each time so she'd know I wasn't trying to case the store to steal something. Sadly, at best she forces out a "thank you" after the purchase but is very suspicious and cold up to that point. The older woman, who I believe is the aunty of the younger woman, is very nice but I rarely see her. This is a great store if your looking for fishing tackle. I've been coming to this store since they were on the west end of King street. I like this location better. The mom and daughter team that work here are very helpful. Some people might think opposite but if its your first time, you might get that impression but if you can get past that its all good. It's been like that since the old store so have a little thick skin. If you don't know what size hook you need, they have a small board with the different sizes for you to choose from and the number size so you know next time. I think this is the only store that does that. It just cuts through the guessing. They have everything you need from hooks to ulua poles, crab nets to throw nets ( which the mom sews herself! ) and lay nets, sand spikes just to name a few. Its easy to go crazy in here if you don't have a mental list of what you need. The prices here are not bad either. Its pretty much more or less than other stores. The store is in the back past subway. The sign is not huge but you'll see it on the warehouse wall. When its busy, parking can be tight because they only have a few stalls. read more

I totally love this place, too bad it's not closer to home or else I would go to J&E's more often. Totally worth the drive from Waipahu. So, I've been going to J&E's since they was located by the old bowling alley and pet shop. They have a particular paper thin lure that they sell by the sheet that no other store has. Their egg leads are pretty cheap when you buy by the bulk. They also have a good supply and variety of rods and ulua poles. They also have Shimano and Penn reels which are cheap in comparison to other places. I just picked up a Shimano CI+4400 for $200 when other places sold it for $230 They have a variety of lures and poppers also. I think most of their items are imported from Japan because they have a lot of items that other fishing supply store don't have. Oh and I can't forget to mention the store owners. They are an awesome mother & daughter team exhibiting excellent customer service. Don't let them fool you because they are females... They are very knowledgable in their fishing gear! What I tend to get from here are Swivels, Slides, small lead (they have all different kinds of small lead) hooks by the box or in packets, line and small poles. I used to go to their old location when they were on King St, where the Nissan store is now. Haven't really been fishing recently. Maybe 25 or 30 years so I haven't kept up with this store. There used to be a lady or 2 that ran this place. They were always super friendly back then. I know a lot of time has passed and I don't know if the people working there now is the same owners. Nevertheless I just got back into fishing so I went back to this store. Now located on the corner of Dillingham and Kokea. The store was nothing fancy but had a variety of supplies. I found most of the stuff I wanted and the prices were very reasonable. It seemed quite busy at the time so maybe it lacked that personalized attention I used to get before. I used to shop at J&E when they were at the Kalihi Shopping Center back in the day, and I still shop at there current location some 30+ years later. Yes, they don't have the greatest personality in the world, but they have a lot of supplies at very reasonable prices. It's a give and take. Parking is right in front of the store, like 3 stalls, but if those are taken, you can always find it you look around, even on the street but is metered stalls. Please don't be offended if you are watched like a hawk, 2 ladies running a shop is prone to thefts, nothing against you. This would be a great place to come due to the prices and what they got in stock I've been coming here for about 2+ years now every time I come here I'm being watched and sometimes the person who owns the place would stand literally 4 to 6 ft. away from you it's very uncomfortable, and no matter how much times you come here to buy its the same. Now I understand that she's the only one working there and that she's been having problems with stealing and I didn't mind this whole thing but the last time I came here was the last straw. I'd usually come here alone but one day I came in with my uncle to look for items we needed for the day we both were looking at the different options of grubs and we were in there for about 3 minutes when my uncle got a call he walked outside to talk on the phone when my uncle left she came in with a yard ruler doing her usual observations and it gets pretty hard to shop when someone's looking over your shoulder. When my uncle came back she pointed the yard ruler at him asking him to wait outside my uncle was pretty surprised cause her actions made it seem like he was about to get hit and Idk about you but pointing a yard ruler at someone isn't an okay thing to do. and we've never experienced any fishing store to be that hostile to their customers, especially to someone who comes to the shop often. so at that point, we decided to leave and go to another fish store. read more

It's a great place to get fishing gear however after my last visit it will be awhile before I even consider going back. I did not like the attitude I got from the owners daughter. I would describe this store as the greatest "Garage" sale ever! Let me be clear, this is not to say their products are 2nd hand or of lesser quality. I use this phrase to describe the way this store presents itself. You literally walk into a garage-type unit and everything is displayed simply, easy to find and conveniently packaged if you want to buy by the bulk. I am also someone who enjoys taking my time to look at everything, so I consider this store and it's layout a very fun way to shop. For some things, their selection is limited......poles and reels, for example. For the basic necessities, they have a great selection. I have also found that their prices for hooks and leads are the lowest that I've seen around town. At the time I went, no issue with parking. My husband loves this place. He's been coming here for years and for some reason this time we visited the lady was hovering our shoulders and every move we made she's right there. Come on lady, u need to get a grip. She was pretty irritated when my husband asked for a item that wasn't on the shelf and she summoned her mother (I assumed) to look for it. I been going to J&E Fishing Supply since they were at the Kalihi Shopping Center. Because I live in Kapolei now, I rarely get to stop in to the shop, which is located on Dillingham/Kokea next to the Kapalama Canal. When I do, know that you are being watched, but don't get offended. I'm an older Japanese male, and I still get "watched"' but they are also nice enough to offer assistance if I can't find what I'm looking for. They are really nice, but cautious people.
