Great fishing/tackle store in Kaneohe. I recently visited on 27 FEB. It is not my first time shopping there and without a doubt there is one young guy that works there that is super helpful and knows the store inside and out. I'm by no means an expert fisherman, and if I don't know the name of something, I just have to describe it and the young guy that is usually behind the register has always shown me where exactly the item is. This visit was not for any fishing gear, but I did pick up an Ono and Mahimahi sticker since I recently caught and landed my first Ono and Mahimahi The purpose of the visit this particular day was it was the closest parking to Kaneohe Pancake House which was the main purpose of our excursion that morning. After breakfast, we walked back to Nanko's and I forced my fiance to go in with me since she made me take her out to breakfast. Hardly in the area but seen we were today me & my fiance decided to stop & pick up some fishing gear. I liked that they let only 6 people at a time. When we got to the door we were sure if we could go in or not. A worker looked at me but disnt say anything so we walked in. They have maybe 4 workers walking around, stocking the items & no one didn't even greet us or even ask if we needed help. I really dont like going to at store or small businesses that we support & the workers arent friendly, not even greeting us. When we asked for an item, they had like a little attitude like "common sense we out, those out fast you know". He didnt say that but thats how he sounded like. On our way to Heeia Pier I remembered that we needed some fishing supplies. I've never been to Nanko before but I saw advertisements for it. We made a quick stop for supplies and snacks; got the last parking stall in the lot in front of the shop. I was pleasantly surprised that they have a big selection of hooks, floats, sinkers, swivels and lures. Nice selection of rods and reels. The workers were very helpful too. We found everything that we needed, paid for our fishing supplies and snacks (Kit Kat) and we were on our way to Heeia. If you're on the Windward side and need some fishing gear, this is definitely a stop to be made. Located on the corner of Kahuhipa St. and Alaloa st. Right down the street from Windward Mall. There's a private parking lot that's shared with a couple of other places. Just make sure I don't park in the Enterprise reserved stalls. They take a good bulk of the front section of stalls but there's about 6 just for Nanko patrons and you have the whole back section unmarked. Everything a fisherman may need for their outing can be found here. Fishing reels, bait, flashlights, tabis, ice and snacks. You name it, they'll have it. One thing I noticed, as a female, there's lots of pink options. From poles, to footwear and goggles. There's at least one from the bulk that's pink. Friendly staff walking around and at the front to assist you if you need help or are looking for something in particular. read more

Everytime I go their I forget the guys name, the skinny hapa dude and the Japanese guy with glasses are legit everything from specs to different brands they know their products and can really put u on the right product as well as give you options and what would work best etc. My most expensive rod I bought from them, Black Hole Suzuki Special 10ft. These guys are solid! My friend bought a new mask and speargun from another shop but they didn't even setup his shooting line or anything. He didn't realize the gun was right handed so he went back and he bought a left hand grip from the same store but they wouldn't even swap out the grips for him after spending a good amount of money on all the equipment. When I met up with him I saw the gun wasn't even setup yet!We went to nanko and it was pretty close to closing time and they were still super helpful and willing to get his gun set up for a dive the next morning. They even checkout out my gun setup and cleaned up the sticky trigger. Those guys were supper knowledgeable and willing to help even tho the gun wasn't purchased from them and gave me some info on getting my gun upgraded to fix some issues. Came here looking for fresh bait but was told they didn't have any and haven't had any in while. This fishing store is located near Windward mall. There a lot of parking and is not hard to find. They have a large selection of everything you would need to go fishing such as a large selection of reels, hooks, fishing line, and some poles. They also have a other items you may need to go to the beach, such as drinks and snack. I've been to a lot of the other fishing supplies stores on the island and The prices here are a lyrics higher then some of their competitors, however they are the only store of this type in the Kaneohe area. I've read the previous reviews by others about the friendly staff, however that's not the feeling we got. The two workers at the time, weren't friendly and helpful. I stood in front of the reels while a younger employee stood behind the counter and he never took the time to ask me if I wanted to see something or needed helped, till I finally started asking questions. His answers were quick, one worded and with no friendliness in his voice. This is probably a good store for the people in Kaneohe since it convenient and the only one in that area. read more

For over 35 years, I have done a lot of bussiness with Nanko buying thousands of dollars in fishing supplies and equipment. Recently I stepped in to get some supplies. I bent over to look at lures in the glass case and my mask had slipped down my face for a brief moment. Before I could even fix it, one of the employees felt the need in a loud voice to tell me that my mask needs to cover my face. Now, this isn't a story about how one feels about COVID, rather how an employee should interact with its customers tactfully and respectively. I later called the store to ask if management could call me back to discuss this issue....nothing. So after many years as a loyal customer, I'm out. I've been here many time before while living on this side of the island. Next to Sears and Target, this is pretty much the only fishing supply store on the windward side. Not only lots of fishing supplies like lures, skirts, terminal tackle, nice display of reels and huge variety of fishing rods, they also have a lot of diving gear as well. Spear guns, wet suits, tabis and diving floaters. They also have bait as well. Caught a huge fish? Bring it here to get the official weight. Need your reels spooled? They can do that too. You got extra space in your cooler? They got drinks to fill that void too! Customer service great. We got here right upon opening so there was a lot of parking. Called them when they opened at 8 and asked about rebanding my husband's gun. the guy who helped me over the phone also replaced everything when i got there.. he was very knowledgeable and made sure to ask a bunch of questions about the gun to get the right parts and keep my husband's preferences. the price was very reasonable and he changed everything out so quick! i was done in about half hour! We previously tried other dive shops (who will be unnamed) closer to our side of island but the experience ended up being absolute trash so we didnt bother going back to try again. It has never been a huge shop, or had the best selection, but generally you cqn find what you need. Gear/equipment, bait, ice, and even snacks. Weather fishing on shore or off, or even diving, they will likely have something for you. They also offer rod wrapping/repair servicing, as well as reel service and line spoiling/replacement.
