Serviced my reel and they get it serviced fast. Went on a Tuesday to get it serviced and they will give you a card that you will later show when picking up. They'll call you when it's ready for pick up. It was Wednesday and it was ready for pick up and I was surprised how fast it was done. The best part is that it was only 30 and I was able to get a 40# test spooled for me no charge since I bought the line there. The reel also looks great and looks like new again and feels new. As a kid growing up in Waipahu in the 60's we use to stop in this store all the time. Buster, who was the owner, was the best. He knew his stuff and went out of his way to make us feel wanted in the store. It was full of bike stuff and all kind other stuff too. I went there today to get a bike tire. I figured I'd go back to my roots. What a waste of time. The store is not like the old days. Hardly any bike stuff. I didn't even see a bike in there. The guy behind the plexiglass didn't even look up when I walked up to the counter. When I asked for help he told me look at the tire and go over there. I don't know what kind style is that, but I am NEVER gonna go in there again. He killed my memories of Buster. We use to call the store Buster's cause he made the store what it was. The guys that work in there don't have what he had and never will. It was more than a job to Buster. If they related it doesn't show. We took our business to The Bike Shop in Aiea. Those guys are great and I should have gone there first. read more

I like to try to support the smaller local mom and pop store when I can, so when i needed bike tubes I went to go see these guys. Well I got the tubes, but what I didn't get from them was a welcoming atmosphere and attitude. I expected a little more aloha from these guys as the "local boys". I recently came in to get a guide on my fishing rod replaced. It was actually the cheapest place to get a guide replaced. The cost of labor alone at other shops cost more than the cost of labor and parts at this shop. The wrapping of the guide was also well done, it looked like the original threading and the epoxy looked very clean and well done. Even though the guide that was replaced was full black and the other guides on the rod are silver with a black insert i don't mind. I actually like the unique look. I would definitely come back if I needed to repair another rod ! read more

So I don't usually write reviews because I appreciate the hard working people but I must say coming to this store over the years & spending money is worth it as i love to fish but when I'm asking questions that i may need help with from the bald guy he has ALWAYS had an ugly attitude. Shows no aloha yet im still dropping money getting & im frustrated cuz he is no help. If I could I'd fire his ass. Show some love to your local anglers or retire cuz im sick of coming only for that guy to look down on me & show no respect when im 1 of the guys that's keeping the business afloat. This is by far the best fishing store on Oahu. Keith and Chris are the real deal. They are very down to earth, always lends a helping hand and never afraid to speak the truth. Keith is also an advocate of fishing, for fishing and the community. He truly cares about preserving the fishing rights of our shoreline anglers and their families. He has strong opinions about our government and the many failures they have done to the shoreline fishermen. No matter how indifferent, he will always be there to support those who can't or won't speak up while respecting your opinion and your right to privacy. Both share a vast knowledge of fishing and they can each tell you their share of fishing stories from the many who visit or their own, as evident by the photos on the wall. But don't ask where the fish are caught because "it's a secret." I encourage everyone who's never been to Waipahu Bicycle & Sporting (aka Buster's) to come by for fishing 101 and those of you (like me) that keeps going back - right on, see you next time! read more

Zero customer service. Stood by for help at the counter, while the "owner" paced behind the counter. I finally got his attention and inquired about casting rods. He just pointed to the rack "over there". Later I asked about another manufacturer and his reply was "they're all the same". Acted as though he was doing me a favor by me purchasing a $200+ rod. A similar scene at other shops that have hanger-on friends, who they rather talk to then help customers. read more

This review is for the fishing, not the bicycling gear - fishing is like 90% of the store anyway. Good selection of fishing gear for a smaller store. Has some gear that Roys and POP do not have, so I always stop by when I am visiting the Waipahu Festival Market. Seems like it is more geared toward shorecasters, not boat fishing. read more

Waipahu Bicycle (Buster's) Has an awesome selection of everything for shore casting. They even have all types of parts for reels that others don't carry. The prices are pretty good too. If you are looking for bicycles the name of the store is misleading, as they don't have any bicycles but do have some bike parts. Back in the day the Waipahu bicycle shop was the place to by a bike out that side. I remember my dad buying my first bike from Buster. read more

The fishing supply is their main focus but the bike side came through in a clutch for our cycling group this week. This is an oasis on the west side if you have a flat on the bike path nearer to Waipahu. Great price for what they have as well. Free to pump your tires too like most shops on island besides farther on the west side. read more
