We stopped in and did some window shopping and soon realized they had a great selection and the best deals. Custom furniture without the custom price. They have a great selection, it's nice how there's a variety of styles, configurations, seat depth. None of it looked like your grandmother's furniture, it was all modern but pretty timeless. Prices are definitely fair and usually a good deal, the same couch is like 10% more expensive at other places. They're a Jonathan Louis vendor, I particularly like those designs. Mark helped me out and he was great at showing me options and answering questions without hovering or making me feel pressured to buy. Only issue, which is not their fault, is that custom pieces take about three months right now. So the pieces in store are usually in stock, but if you want to take advantage of the customization option to get different dimensions or switch fabric, it's a pretty long wait. read more

Roy's is awesome! I searched online and locally and couldn't find what I was looking for. I almost spent 3K+ on a sofa that was almost what I wanted, then a friend took me to Roy's. Found the perfect design in the fabric I was searching for-- at less than half the price of the other store. Staff is wonderful, fabric selection is extensive and delivery was ahead of schedule and executed perfectly. I love my new sturdy, comfortable and gorgeous sofa and so does everyone who's seen it. My experience with Roy's was great. I was looking to purchase a new sectional couch for my new home; and wanted to shop small. I lived around the corner from Roy's for a few years and finally decided to stop in, and I'm super happy I did. They have a large showroom with a ton of options to really make the pieces your own. We were able to pick out our fabrics from over hundreds of options, allowing us to pick out the couch of our dreams. The sales reps were helpful, but not pushy- which is something I always appreciate. The couch arrived on time, and they made delivery a breeze. I had a phenomenal experience from the moment I walked it till after my furniture arrived! Tim was fantastic! I enjoy walking around and getting the feel for sitting on the furniture. Imagining what it would feel like in my own space. Tim gave me space, filled me in on the colored tags, allowed me to experience how I chose. He did follow up ten minutes later to check if I had any questions! Didn't feel uncomfortable at all or rushed. The entire delivery process went smoothly, prompt, and delivery staff was meticulous on the couch and recliner I picked! Tim followed up a day after to check on the experience! I have previously had a great experience with this company, I have a couch from them that I love. About a year ago I used the synchrony credit card they partner with to purchase the couch. When I went back yesterday to look for a coffee table, the employees were minimally helpful. I spent some time with my family finding options and deciding on an ottoman for my couch. When I went to purchase the item (with the credit card I opened with them), I was told I needed to put a 1/3 of the cost down on another form of payment. I suppose I understand this, since it is a custom order, but I don't understand why I can't use the form of payment they endorse at their store to do this. I emailed the company to complain, as this doesn't make any sense to me, and I was met with very rude emails from their "President," Johanna. She wanted to go back and forth about the difference between a credit card and a line of credit. ‍ At the end of the day, I was trying to understand their policy and shop at their store, giving them my business and money. She didn't seem to care about customer service whatsoever. She cared more about being right and proving her point. What childish and unprofessional behavior from a so called "president." January 30, 2021: I ordered a couch. The sales associate, Mark, was very friendly and helpful. The couch was a custom order and would take longer than usual due to COVID-related delays. I was told it would be delivered right after the Fourth of July. I said that was fine, completed my purchase, and walked out of the store completely oblivious to the cluster that was yet to unravel. July 3: I emailed Mark for a status update as I had not yet heard anything about scheduling the delivery. July 7: Mark emailed me and said the factory was experiencing a foam shortage and the delivery window had been pushed to mid-August. He promised to email me in early August with an update. August 20: I emailed Mark for an update as I had not heard back from him or from anyone else at Roy's. August 24: Mark emailed me back and said the delivery was now expected in mid-September due to the foam shortage. He promised to email the factory the following week and get back to me with an update. October 2: I emailed Mark again, as he never got back to me in early September, or at any time in September, for that matter. Mark never emailed me back after several additional attempts to contact him. October 11: I emailed Roy's general customer service address asking for an update and letting them know Mark had stopped replying to my emails. October 12: I received an email from another Roy's employee, Jillian. Quoting the email directly, she said, "I confirmed your order is on our next truck which is scheduled as of today to arrive around the end of this month." November 10: I emailed Jillian again as I had yet to hear anything about my couch. She emailed back, and I quote: "Looks like your sofa is on our next truck, should be here within a couple weeks." I emailed back, having SERIOUSLY reached my limit with these people, because that is basically the same reply I got from her a month ago. I would include her reply here, but it was complete BS. November 11: Angry and still couchless for nearly 10 months, I wrote the first version of this Yelp review and urged my fellow Yelpers to never, EVER shop at Roy's. I also promised to edit and update the review when and if I ever received my couch. ADDITIONAL UPDATES (believe it or not, it gets worse) November 11: Literally 10 minutes after I posted this review, I received a phone call and email from Jillian. She was very nice and apologetic. She also told me my couch should arrive the following week, and that she would call me on Tuesday to arrange delivery. November 15: A day earlier than she had promised, Jillian called me to tell me my couch was in and that I could schedule the delivery.  November 16: The couch was delivered and was lovely. The two men who delivered it were fast, professional, and nice. (They also gave me a coupon for 10% off my next order that expired in August 2021. Oh, the irony.) I also received a follow-up call from another manager at Roy's to make sure all my concerns had been addressed, which I appreciated. November 19: Less than 72 hours after receiving the couch, I noticed both main cushions were warping. There was a strange line visible on the fabric in certain places, and the cushions felt uneven (see photos). I unzipped the cushions and saw that this is being caused by a fabric insert on top of the foam that doesn't extend across the full length of the cushions. I emailed Jillian, who got back to me right away and said she would order two new cushions for me at no charge and would follow up with me the next week about delivery. November 23: I received a call from someone at Roy's I'd never spoken to before claiming to be from the accounting department who was EXTREMELY rude and said they would not replace the cushions as they promised to do last week because I have been "Yelping about my experience and bullying them on the Internet." She said they would come to my house and "retrieve their order" and THEN issue me a full refund. Like I would trust these people to give me my money back AFTER taking the couch or even let them into my house after all this?! Also, I already got rid of my old couch, so I'm screwed. I once again asked for the new cushions I had been promised by Jillian and was told no. What?! I admit that at this point in the conversation I dropped one F-bomb, but I am super proud of myself for not having done so before during the past 10 months. And I guess I am now stuck with a defective couch, which I will order new foam for myself rather than deal with this horrible store anymore. BOTTOM LINE: Stay far, FAR away from Roy's! One of my best friends had a very similar experience with this store as I was going through my ordeal, and if you read other Yelp reviews, you will see we are not alone. I had heard great things about Roy's pre-pandemic, but am absolutely appalled by not only the ridiculous delivery delay and quality control issues, but the complete lack of customer service. read more

I bought furniture for my new house 10 years ago when Roy's was temporarily on Western and I have to say all of the furniture that I purchased has lasted all these years and I recommend Roy's furniture to all my friends. I have 4 dogs so I do put blanket on the couch to keep it clean but even with all the dogs jumping all over it the couch still has good bouncy cushions and is very comfortable. I also bought a beautiful sideboard and bedroom set and it is all very good furniture. read more

After *almost* buying a couch several times at all the big name stores, we ended up at Roy's pretty desperate. But we left very, very happy. The showroom itself is two stories and has an impressive variety of styles and price ranges. Hundreds of pieces to choose from, from living to bedroom to dining room furniture. Within a few seconds, an associate had welcomed us and explained the tag system. White tags meant the piece was in stock (at their local warehouse) and deliverable within a week; gray tags meant the piece was ordered and has an ETA; other tags meant the stock was backordered. They also offered every piece custom with so many fabric options. The customer service was top notch. Margery was kind and attentive while still giving us space to take it all in. She was incredibly helpful by offering us ETA's or extra info on pieces we spent time looking at. In the end, we were able to get a perfect sectional (seriously, the dimensions, fabric, reversibility, etc. were all on point!) AND a very stylish recliner (that we didn't expect but fell in love with) with next day delivery. For thousands less than what other stores quoted for 12-week deliveries. Speaking of the delivery, it went so smoothly. The associates were masters at maneuvering the pieces into our apartment. They even set up the cushions and pillows, and took all the trash with them. The white glove delivery was an pleasant surprise. We are so happy to support local and will definitely be buying future pieces from Roy's too. read more

Warranty Beware I purchased a couple of pieces of furniture from Mark (great guy with good taste) and because my color of choice was extremely light, he recommended I purchase a warranty from Serve Co which was not cheap. My complaint is against Serve Co. they are scammers. On 1/15/2024 I submitted a request for service, and I followed the procedure and submitted all the necessary documentation and received confirmation that it was received, and I would hear back in 48 hours. When I did not hear back from them, I contacted them on 1/23/2024. They stated they had all they needed, and my service request was assigned to Sara, and I would receive a call back by 1/25/2024. I never got a call. After calling a couple of more times including today, they are asking for the same documentation I submitted on 1/15/2024. Serve Co is a scam. read more

We purchased two beds, a sofa and two chairs. Had an issue with the two chairs. After a couple of weeks the cushion on the chairs was non existent. It had flatten out. After many phone calls (me leaving messages - not receiving calls back until I called again), I finally heard back from someone in management. They sent someone out to take a look at the chairs and gave the impression that they would attempt to fix them. Only to have the upholsterer who came out tell me he was only out to inspect them not fix them. After I followed up again as they never followed up after his visit I was told the chairs were sold as is and we were out of luck. Even though the chairs were super low quality, they refused to stand behind the product. Unless they had had those chairs in their showroom for a decade they was no way the cushion should have lasted as little as it did. I even appealed to their sense of customer service and offered to pay for half of the upholstery cost to have the chairs repaired. They dismissed me as if we didn't matter. Will not return. Not interested in supporting a business that will not stand behind their products when a customer spends thousands of dollars at their store. Especially when the repair would have a been a couple of hundred dollars. read more

If you'd prefer not reading through, I'll put it here succinctly: buy your furniture here and you'll receive outstanding customer service for furniture that follows suit within the time they quote. Jared was the person I spoke to from day 1 and he was such wonderful help! He is extremely knowledgeable, offered terrific advice, and wasn't pushy at all. Purchasing from him felt more like I was chatting with a friend than a salesperson, which was a terrific introduction to the entire chapter of obtaining my couch. Speaking of the couch - IT IS ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE!!!! Its fabric is aesthetically enticing and enchanting to the touch, and its cushion, which is nothing less than lovely, encourages a nice conversation amongst a group of friends, a snuggle with a significant other, or a pleasantly deep snooze, day or night. The two large matching pillows are notably comfy to hug, lean or, or rest your head upon, and the faux llama fur kidney pillow is a downright delight. The quote time was met (quoted 10-14 weeks because of covid-19, arrived within the 13th) and 100% worth the wait. Because of my apartment complex's structure, it was necessary to send the couch to a third party to disassemble, deliver, and reassemble it in my apartment (this was disclosed initially and the third party team was astute and efficient). This couch is magnificent, and I highly recommend anyone looking for furniture to add to their home: go to Roy's. You will not be disappointed. I've written this review whilst sitting upon my remarkably comfortable couch. I don't generally write reviews - in fact, I can't remember the last time I have. However, it felt necessary to publicly remark on the astounding service, quality, and delivery of the couch I purchased from Roy's Furniture. I have never written a review before but I have never experienced such horrible customer service that made me feel I had to in order for other people to be well informed about making a purchase from this business... upon coming to their yelp page... I have found 2 other people in the past month have given 1 star reviews detailing the exact same experience I had I am new to Chicago and have been looking for a couch since June. I had been to several stores and none of them could offer me a timeline that I was satisfied with as I didn't have a couch at all and didn't really want to wait. But with shortages and shipping delays... I wasn't having any luck... though a few did offer me discounts if I were willing to make a purchase and wait, I figured I would keep shopping. That is until I walked in to Roy's(or so I thought)... I started walking around the store and checking out their selection and found one I liked. Mark came up to me and asked if I had any questions... My first question was "How long will it take to get this couch if I wanted to make a purchase??"... to my suprise, Mark said 1 - 3 weeks. I was thrilled, and put down half the money for the sofa/chaise, and Mark said that he would be in touch with me.... That would be the last time I heard from Mark for 11 weeks. I made several attempts calling the number on the card he had provided me and never received an answer. I called the store several times and spoke with someone that said... it looks like your sofa is delayed a little bit and said I should have recieved a text... which I did not. Apparently Mark, put in my number wrong... no big deal... I had this person fix my number and asked him to give me a call when he was back in. I would call several more times and not get answers... or I would have someone tell me that Mark would call me back. Never happened. I was finally able to actually get him on the phone 11 weeks later, and to my suprise... my couch has arrived... I was stunned. How could you not give me a call to tell me?? So I began to tell him how completely frustrating this process has been and he said, "I understand, so when can we set up a delivery time?" Are you serious!?!? Were you even listening to me? I told him I felt like at best, he could cover the cost of delivery since it is 8 weeks late and I never heard from them about it. He said "We don't do that but I can talk to Customer Service" I didn't think anything would come of that given how things have gone so far... so I called(no answer) then emailed them. I got a sympathetic response from someone asking to give them a call as soon as I could. So I called... at this point the customer service manager, Jillian, has answered and I tell her one of her associates told me to give them a call... She said, "Oh right, so when can we set up a delivery time??" Again... are you serious? Are you listening... went over my frustrations again... and she said its our policy that we dont take responsibility for shipping delays... I told her this is not a shipping delay issues, this is a complete failure of customer service and and customer service complaint. She apparently got offended by me saying that and said "It is clear that you are not happy, so we are just going to cancel your order, refund your money in full, and you can take it elsewhere." I could not believe it. I still can't believe it. I don't get how you can treat people this way. I don't know that I did anything wrong. I feel like I had valid reasons for making a customer service complaint to the customer service department... and when I did so... they cancelled my order. The Sofa Search Saga continues..... The summer of 2020 I ordered a sectional from Roy's Furniture. The sales associate was very friendly and helpful at the time of purchase. My sectional was delivered in the time frame I was told, it is a Tiffany Blue color, beautiful! In no time of having my sectional all the cushions would come out of place each time you sit on it. When I or my company get up from the sofa the sofa was disarrayed. I called the company, and I was told because of the newness it moves but it will soon stop. I gave it sometime fixing my sofa each time I sat on it and a year later my sectional together or apart my cushions move. My sectional looks messy with cushions out of place. I emailed, I called, I even went into the store to speak with a manager. I spoke to Johanna the manager who gave me a number to the warehouse. She said they are the ones I need to speak to I called the number leaving serval messages. I called the furniture store back to let them know I am unable to get someone on the phone to speak with. I had some people to finally come out to look at the sectional. I showed them how the sofa cushions move when being used. They told me someone will get back to me, they do see what I am saying. From that inspection nothing came of it. I had to call Roy's Furniture back to ask them what they will do to fix this problem because I never heard back from the people that inspected the sofa. Johanna said nothing because they found nothing wrong. I sent Johanna the manager pictures of my sectional problem as she requested me to do, and she emailed me back stating, can I send a video of the cushions in motion moving, Wow! I am thinking to myself. I send her a video and she states that the company said the video is not good enough evidence of the problem. I called the store to speak to Johanna she was not available to speak. I emailed her and she basically said I cannot assist with your issue and never replied to any more of my emails. I am very disappointed with Roy's Furniture customer service; my family and I have been customers of this store for decades before they moved into the new building. Here is one of my many emails sent trying to receive assistance. June 2022: I am incredibly unsatisfied with your customer service. I purchased this couch from you for $2000+ over a year ago. At this point, I have sent photo and video evidence. A representative has also come out to my home to see the problem. I do not know how else I can express that the couch is not functional. The cushions move every time the couch is used to the point that it must be rearranged constantly. This is not a product worth $2000. I am asking you now - how are you going to solve this problem for me? Is someone going to come and apply upholstery to make the couch functional? What is the company going to do to make it right? As of today, I am still living with the pretty Tiffany blue sectional that I am constantly putting back in order, fixing the pillows daily. I am now going to an upholstery company to see if they could fix my sectional which means more money out of my pocket. I was moving to a new apartment last year and looking to make a significant step up from the Scandanavian big box store. Roy's had a great selection and was surprisingly affordable. What's more, the quality vastly surpasses that of the aforementioned big box store for really not that much more. Totally worth it. Friendly and helpful staff. No pushy sales tactics and the person I worked with took the time to thoroughly follow-up on my emailed questions. Lastly, there was a small manufacturing defect that I noticed a few months after buying in one of my cushions. I emailed asking how to buy a replacement, figuring I was not covered under any warranty. Wrong! All I had to do was briefly explain the problem, email a photo or two showing what was up, and they ordered me a no-charge replacement straight away. It was all way easier than I imagined it would be. Oh yeah, and everyone that comes by comments on how nice my new sofa. They all know it came from Roy's. We really want to like this place. They seem to have quality furniture at reasonable prices. We like the furniture we ordered from them in the past, so we recently purchased some new dining chairs. Unfortunately, after assembling them, 3 of the 4 were uneven. When I contacted customer service, they first suggested adjusting the knobs on the legs. Apparently, they do not know their own products well enough to know there are no knobs on these chairs. Unfortunately, they only had 2 chairs remaining in the warehouse, so it would be over 2 months before a 3rd chair could arrive. They refused to discount that chair for the inconvenience. They did assure me that they assembled the 2 chairs in their warehouse and they were both even. It took a lot of back & forth to work out a delivery time, as they didn't want to inconvenience themselves by adding an extra delivery on a Saturday (but kept asking me to take another day off work to receive their delivery during the week). When the 2 replacement chairs did arrive, they turned out to wobble. They tried to say our floor was uneven, but when I placed the 1 even chair in the same spot, it did not wobble. While they did issue a full refund, they not only tried to sell us defective products, but then tried to pass them off as not defective. read more

We had an exceptionally good experience with Roy's. Up front, I'll say that as many other reviewers have noted, our order was quite COVID delayed--and in fact took an extra two weeks on top of the already long estimate. However, that seems to be the norm across the industry right now, and other local furniture stores quoted times as long or longer for a couch this size, so I can't mark Roy's down for it. Our shopping experience was very pleasant, with an appealing and comfortable showroom (and great music) that feels upscale but not intimidating. Furniture is a funny thing--if the deal is too good, there's a good chance you're getting something that won't last. But when the price creeps too high you're paying for a Veblen good with perhaps a luxury brand name but not much practical benefit. We came in prepared to haggle but were able to find a couch we loved at an extremely fair sticker price, not so cheap as to be in that alarming bargain-basement territory but still much less than we would have expected. Note: the Roy's website is self-admittedly under-construction, and it's a bit clumsy to browse. For the best experience you definitely want to visit in-person, where every aspect of the experience feels as polished and professional as you'd expect. The real kicker was the option for custom upholstery with many, many fabric choices, at no extra charge. Marjorie, who helped us, was just terrific--the perfect combination of available for questions and hands-off; she didn't hover while we deliberated, made no attempt to upsell, and was not at all pushy when we decided to return another day to make our final decision. Exactly what you want in a salesperson. Marjorie was very helpful in making the fabric selections for our (again, free!) custom upholstery, guiding us to the right choices for a household with a medium size dog, and let us take our time agonizing over options for the accent pillow. We even let decision paralysis get the better of us at one point and asked if it might be possible for Roy's to accommodate our paying extra to get two accents, with the top two fabric contenders, and Marjorie gamely researched that question with the manufacturer (turns out we could have, for another $50, but we did come to our senses and pick one). Delivery into our living room (up two flights of back-deck stairs) was an extra $100 with assembly, which also felt very fair, and now that it's finally arrived I can happily report that the delivery experience was as professional and competent as the purchasing experience. The team arrived on time, wore masks, maintained social distancing, and installed the couch with friendly efficiency. They left a coupon for 10% off a future purchase, which is appreciated, but we didn't need it to consider returning to Roy's again! read more

Because of the great Yelp reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I was desperate for new living room furniture, and seemed to be striking out at Thomasville (not to mention they are wildly expensive). The first visit to this store was a few weeks before Thanksgiving. We came in less than a half hour before closing, and the staff were really welcoming; Jerry in particular was really helpful. We came in again the week after Thanksgiving, and Jerry remembered us right away, despite our quick visit a few weeks before. Again, he was really helpful, not pushy in the least, and brought just about every fabric swatch in the store for us to look at. I ended up getting a couch, ottoman and chair, all for less than $800. Good prices, poor quality furniture, and terrible customer service. I bought a pieces of furniture from Roy's 6 months ago, and in that time it broke twice. The repair process was quick, but broke again soon after. After the second breakage, I requested a refund on my goods, most likely to buy another piece from the store. However, I was left waiting for my refund for three additional months. I would reach out to their customer service line and would be met with an answering machine, and email threads would go weeks without response. It was only when I started going back to their store location and meeting with their sales team that my refund request got moving. The Sales Associate, Mark, was very helpful and helped conclude the three month process of getting my refund but this whole ordeal concluded my consumer relationship with this store. read more

Really amazing staff! Tim was incredible--patient, kind, and helpful. Long story short, we order a couch and make a deposit. We wait over six months and they keep pushing the delivery date. This whole time they've had over a thousand dollars of my deposit. I call and they keep pushing the date far beyond what they originally said. Finally, I write a negative review on Google and without asking me, they CANCEL MY ORDER! The next day, I get an aggressive call from the manager about how I'm an internet bully and one of "Those people." Love their staff. Love their couches. Not professional management. We bought a sectional from Roy's and 7 months in we couldn't be happier. We bought our couch at the beginning of 2020 and had scheduled the delivery for March when we were moving into a new apartment. COVID hit and made things interesting but everyone at Roy's was so helpful in still making the delivery happen in a punctual manner. We sold our old couches after moving in and were almost left with nothing to sit on for months but Roy's came through big time. Everything about buying a new couch from Roy's was a refreshing experience. From the knowledgeable yet unaggressive staff to the quality of the furniture and the efficiency of the delivery team, it was a much easier process than I would've imagined. Bought a sectional from Roy's a few months ago and I'm loving it. Furniture shopping during COVID was hard as supply everywhere was low but the staff here worked with me to find something that suited my price range that would get here as fast as possible. I did have quite a few options to choose from with the look I was going for, despite having limited options on other companies' websites and I believe you can further customize if you have time. Ended up finding a beautiful sectional that was $1300 ($2000 cheaper than a similar looking crate and barrel couch and was even more comfy). Have been recommending Roys to all my friends as they have a wide variety of furniture and lot of it was surprisingly reasonable. I came here when I was in the market for a sturdy coffee table and a rug for my apartment. I was impressed by the beautiful set up of the show room and open floor plan. There were ton's of coffee tables and rugs on display that fit my criteria. I really believed that this was going to be a successful visit to the store. Unfortunately, this was not a successful visit to the store. The store only had one or two other customers on the day I was there, but none of the employees would help me. All of them were too busy talking with each other, and would turn the other way when I would try to make eye contact with them. I know I wasn't one of those customers spending thousands of dollars to furnish an entire house, but I still feel that someone should have done their job and offered to help me. This store really needs to work on improving their customer service with ALL customers. I give them two stars for their furniture selection, and 0 for service. read more

I've purchased a bed and a sofa from Roy's. I love both purchases and really felt that the quality of the furniture was great and the price much less less than I would pay elsewhere. I was also able to customize each, with choices of lots and lots of fabric options, and no upcharge for the customization. For each I had looked at other nationwide furniture dealers and they just couldn't match the price and quality at Roy's. The customer service is also great. I'll always now look at Roy's any time I need a piece of furniture. With the customization, you really can take nearly any basic piece and make it unique to you. read more

Loved Roy's and Jared for helping us out! They have a huge selection and are super helpful without hovering. Jared checked in off and on while we wandered through the store and just when we thought we'd seen it all Jared narrowed it down to the perfect couch. It was our first place looking, based off a friend's recommendation, so we spent a couple weeks looking at other furniture stores but always circled back to Roy's. You can just tell the quality of the couches when you look at others and the price is about the same if not better. At Roy's you get a ton of fabric options while others you may get a few and you know it's made for you! Jared is super knowledgeable about the couches, cushions and fabrics and asking what we're looking for while making suggestions with us having a dog but keeping with the light color we wanted. We ordered yesterday and it just stinks we have to wait so long (not sure yet but could be up to 14 weeks, Jared said he'll check in 4ish weeks to give an update) to get the couch but it's an investment and we know it'll be worth it! read more
