The choice of where to take my car for service and repair comes down to one thing: do I trust the…read moremechanic. That is why I only go to Mr. Pinto. I trust him to give me a fair evaluation, be honest and upfront with me about issues and costs, and to do the work right. It's really as simple as that. My husband and I have been customers at Pinto's for several years now and will faithfully remain so. Best example of why I'm happy with service here: Last November, my '01 Honda Civic overheated and stalled. That had never happened before and I didn't know what to do. I happened to be right down the street from a Honda dealership and made my way up there. I was told that the head gasket was ready to go and needed to be replaced. I was advised that it would cost about $1,800 and, at that price, I should just look at getting another car. I was devastated! I loved my car and was not financially prepared at the time (right before Christmas!) to get a new car. I decided to risk taking it back to Fall River for Mr. Pinto to take a look. He was really surprised to hear that the head gasket was that far gone because he hadn't seen anything wrong with it (and he sees my car fairly regularly). Turns out, there were two things wrong: the thermostat needed replacing and there were cracks in the head gasket that could be temporarily mended. He fixed the thermostat and poured a liquid that filled in the cracks in the head gasket. He explained that it was kind of like putting a Band-Aid on something that would eventually need surgery, but it was a good temporary fix nonetheless. The car is still running like a champ in June and the whole thing cost me less than $150. Which brings me to cost. I understand from talking to others that Mr. Pinto might charge a little more than other places. That's fine with me because, again, it all comes down to trust and that includes trusting him not to rob me blind. Just like with anything and anywhere else, you pay a little more for good service, but you pay happily. I am very happy to pay Mr. Pinto's fair rates for excellent service and will continue to do so.

I have a 2017 Sierra Denali that I brought in for a new transmission in June. There was nothing…read morewrong with the rest of the truck, it just needed a new transmission that costed $8,700.00. After picking it up it was worse than the old one. My suspension system light came on. They told me it would be $3,000 to fix. I checked the wire and it was unplugged. Since then I brought it back to have the transmission looked at since I had a warranty. We'll they said there is nothing wrong and it needs a computer update and now a motor mount. They didn't catch on the initial visit. We'll I brought it in to have the motor mount and computer update done. The next day my steering was tight and I found ball bearing on my floor. They had to take apart the steering shaft to get to the motor mount. And now my steering is messed up and they are saying I have to pay for it now. There was nothing wrong with it before and they are refusing to help me out since my extended warranty wont pay for the part. At first they told me the bearings cant be repaired and the part is 1700 dollars. Now they called back and said the part can be fixed but they want $475 to do it. I feel that because I have an extended warranty they are trying to take advantage of me and my warranty and I dont think I should have to pay for something they messed up. Side note: the whole service shop employees switched places with another dealership. I wonder how often they do this.

I was originally quoted for a total engine repair at 8K and it would take 2 weeks. After a change…read moreof management and some staff, the number ballooned to over 11K. I called 3 weeks later and was told the engine was backordered. I did not receive any updates and I had to initiate any conversation. The engine was completed two months later but a check engine light turned on when I drove off the lot. After admitting the purge pump failed somehow while on their lot waiting for the engine replacement, I was told by the manager tough luck and it'll be another top market repair. Be prepared no communication, no accountability, and to be nickled and dimed.  I was laughed at when I said I'd share my experience online. Avoid.
