If you have a child with a disability or simply need hands on training one on one, Passion For Splashin is my go to recommendation. My son has moderate Autism and knew nothing about swimming. My son still needs a lot of work but he's able to swim enough without needing assistance and understands basic pool safety. He's even jumping in and getting out by himself and using safety techniques when doing so. Ms. Nea and her team can arrange a session to see if they're the right fit for you. Came in early Wednesday and there's no one in the pool. I guess they ended around 10am. Thursday is the way worst! Got there before noon and was told the pool will be open at 1pm. They don't care about ruining your time and day! I think the lifeguards are just way too lazy! And the attitude is awful! They use to be friendlier! Instead of being apologetic for messing with your time, they become so defensive!!! There's no way that both the small and big pool is in capacity those days! I've been going to this YMCA for more than 10 years, and never had this problems with using the pool. Whoever is running it now, is clearly disorganized or doesn't know what they're doing. The locker room shower is full of molds every where! I've never seen anyone cleaning. They just keep changing the white shower curtains when it's turns moldy! They are isolating their loyal members. Over the past several months, the pool has been increasingly dirty, communication has become almost nonexistent, and there rarely seems to be management available. Calls go unanswered all the time and it is extremely difficult to get in touch with anyone in aquatics, and employees seem to be quitting left and right. Many of the swim instructors and lifeguards who kept my children, wife and myself coming back year after year are now gone, and the quality and availability of swim lessons have gone downhill TREMENDOUSLY. At the beginning of the year, I had no issues getting in contact with management, the aquatics department was responsive, the pool was clean, and I have never had to many any complaints, until now. I'm honestly not sure what happened, but there has been a noticeable decline over the past several months, and it feels like a completely different facility now. What concerns me most is safety. I have personally noticed lifeguards appearing distracted and not paying the level of attention I would expect around a pool. This also includes the few swim instructors that are left, and unfortunately, the few who remain often seem distracted and inexperienced, which is especially concerning when parents are trusting them with their children in the water. As a parent, not being able to reach aquatics management when I have questions or concerns about my child's safety is completely unacceptable. I know I am not the only frustrated parent. I have heard concerns from other families for months, and at this point I believe the YMCA board and senior leadership need to take a serious look at how this facility and aquatics department are being managed. When there is high employee turnover, unhappy members, declining programs, poor communication, and ongoing safety concerns, something clearly needs to change. It is a shame because this used to be a place my family enjoyed and trusted. After more than six years, I find myself asking, "What happened to my local YMCA?" With membership prices increasing while the quality of service continues to decrease, I no longer feel that I am getting what I am paying for. I will be canceling my membership and would strongly encourage other families to carefully consider whether this facility is meeting their expectations, especially when it comes to aquatics and pool safety. I also believe the appropriate health and safety authorities should evaluate the conditions at this facility if these issues continue. Paying members deserve a clean, properly managed facility, responsive leadership, qualified staff, and, above everything else, a safe environment for their children. Do better Scheu YMCA. You've really let your community down.

We came here for the water tots class (ages 3-5) and we are very impressed with the instructors…read morehere. They make the class fun with singing, games, and toys so that students get used to the environment and feel comfortable with each other. But it doesn't stop there; they also incorporate one to two skills per class, and my daughter has a lot of fun (which to us was the most important part). The swim classes run for 30 minutes each session, and that is a good amount of time for a 3-year-old's attention span. Prices are also pretty fair; $65 for 2 weeks (for residents), and they run Monday through Friday for a group class. The class had 7 kids with 2 swim instructors, and I was glad to see them co-teach. Parents and family members can sit on the shaded area and watch their kids learn how to swim. They also have multiple life guards watching the area so we feel pretty safe with the kids in the pool. I also see other higher level classes going on as well as the private one-on-one swim lessons. I only wish I knew about the registration times earlier on so I can sign up for multiple sessions in the summer. Registrations begin as early as May and I didn't sign up until July. Now I know for next year! Definitely coming back again.

Coach Sandra is nothing short of spectacular because she changed all that. She took a 12 lesson course and it didn't take more than 3 lessons for her to be fearless and swim! She was super happy and hyped up to work with the kiddos each day and it showed. This last year 2023, can't say the same thing at all. The instructor was ok she was more laid back and not as excited it seemed. Maybe younger and a bit more serious. Didn't get her name.
