We have been taking swim lessons at aquatots for 1 year! We've defitnely started to figure out the program that at first seemed confusing! One nice thing is that you make your schedule a month at a time but you can easily reschedule a class by canceling at least an hour before. I've had many weeks where I realize that a conflict would mean we'd miss, I go on the app, cancel the class and wait for a coach/time frame that I like, to come available and then sign up, sometimes an hour before that class starts! Plus you never lose the makeups! We've found some of our favorite coaches this way! Actually, the reason I even thought to leave another review was because we happened to makeup a class the other day and it was with a coach we'd never had before and my kids RAVED about him. Bradley was intentional, patient, and gave real feedback that I watched work! We were SO impressed with his instruction!!! That's the other thing that I find superior to many other swim lessons I've done I get to see everything, right up close... in air conditioning, relatively comfortable red chairs, with music, and 3 feet plus glass between me and my kiddos... I love this!!! I can watch them with no splashing, no loud echoey noise, just comfortable space to see my kids learn and excel. Great advice I got, was to use makeups to find coaches that you like and I'd say it's pretty good advice given that not all coaches are a good fit for your kiddo, so if you get paired with one, be open to trying others! read more

This incident took place today at a swimming establishment in Rancho Cucamonga called Aqua-Tots. I am sharing this to inform other parents of an experience that deeply impacted my child and me. For background: My son just turned 6 years old a few days ago and has been attending Aqua-Tots for quite some time. He has never had behavioral issues at school or in other settings. I am a psychologist, and while I've worked hard to teach him emotional regulation and respect, he is still a young child. Like many children his age, when scolded harshly, he becomes sensitive and may cry. A couple of weeks ago, I brought him in for a make-up swim class. His regular instructor was not there, and the instructor assigned to him was a new hire. Children at his level have more freedom in the water, though rules still apply. It is also normal for kids this age to splash or squirm while seated. When children don't listen, they are "benched," which I understand and support when done appropriately. However, during this makeup class, my son was benched multiple times, and the instructor's demeanor was extremely cold. She never smiled, never softened her tone, and ultimately made my child cry hysterically. I had to fight the urge to pull him out of class. I later spoke to the front desk and explained that while benching is acceptable, the way children are spoken to matters, and this instructor's approach was unnecessarily harsh. Today (Saturday), my son attended class with his regular instructor, and everything went perfectly -- he had fun, learned, and was happy. Immediately after, I decided to have him do another make-up class, which I now deeply regret. The front desk suggested placing him with a different instructor, telling me she was the swim supervisor and that "people like her." I was hesitant but agreed. During this class, my son was benched twice and again left crying. After class, the instructor -- Brooke, the supervisor -- told me: * My son cried because he touched the lane divider and didn't listen the first time so he was benched. * She stated, "I already knew there would be issues because you had complained before" * She claimed he rolled his eyes at her * She said he told her, "I don't have to listen to you" These statements did not align with my child's behavior. My son has never spoken to adults this way. I told her I would speak to my son. I also asked the other parents and children -- with parent permission -- what they observed. The children in his class (who were sitting directly next to him) stated: * They did not see him roll his eyes * They did not hear him say he didn't have to listen * They only saw him crying These children are older than my son and were close enough to hear everything. At that point, I was overwhelmed and emotional. I cried inside the facility, and even now, as I am writing this, I am still crying. Seeing how betrayed my child felt impacted me deeply. Watching my son sob and say, "I didn't say that, Mommy. I didn't do that. Why didn't you believe me?" was heartbreaking. I do believe my child. I simply needed corroboration before informing front desk staff -- especially when an adult was making serious claims about a 6-year-old's behavior. I pay for my child to learn, to build confidence, and to feel safe -- not to be treated harshly, emotionally distressed, or falsely accused. Discipline is one thing. Humiliation, coldness, and dishonesty toward a child are another. No child deserves this treatment, and no parent should have to witness their child feel betrayed in a place meant to support learning and growth. I am sharing this so other parents are aware and can make informed decisions about where they place their trust. Needless to say I canceled membership even though I have 2 makeup classes left and they said they were going to charge me for a whole month even though I will not be taking my child back, because he does not need to be put through any emotional turmoil from grown adults. I work with children daily who have disabilities, I need to be friendly, lighthearted and patient when interacting with children because they are CHILDREN. Also each class has anywhere from 1-4 kids per swim session, each session is about 25 minutes, classes regularly have at least 4 kids in them which means your kid is only getting about 6 minutes or less of swim time and you're paying $150+ for classes per month. Choose the location wisely. read more

Despite not having a pool ourselves- swim and water safety is super important to me; even more so now that I've had a baby. My husband and I wanted to ensure that our infant would be safe around the water so we started her in swim lessons at Aquatots when she turned 4 months old. She goes two times a week and loves it! Our primary coaches- Arianna and Aiden are super helpful, kind, and informative as we navigate through water safety with our baby. We can't wait to see what she continues to learn. My daughter started at level 4 and total she graduated to swim club. I want to give a huge shout out to Coach Ariana who is the best coach! My daughter is autistic and doesn't do well with change or criticism, but Ariana treated her like her own and was the greatest teacher we could have asked for. My daughter was lucky enough to have her in each level and I think without her she wouldn't have done as well as she did. Ariana you are truly a blessing to us and we are truly thankful for you. Updated review, i was waiting to have a few more classes, I was able to get the discount provided to me. I haven't had my son in any other swim classes so I can't compare them to anything else but after trying a couple coaches who were honestly so monotone and melancholy like I am taking my 9 month old I need a little more razzle dazzle I finally found Gabby who is honestly great. She was the first coach to explain why things are done the way they are and have some enthusiasm and I am actually glad to take my son to swim class now. My child was extremely timid with anything aquatic but after 3-4 weeks I've seen several positive changes with my son and the water. The staff is extremely professional, they're always on time and very communicative about what their working on my with my son. Overall, this place is an absolute godsend to our family and I would recommend it to anyone who wants their child to learn how to swim. My only regret was not putting my son in this class sooner. I would like to share a very disappointing experience my son and I had today with Coach Hailey R. My son has been studying at this swimming school for about one year, and this was the first time he had a class with Coach Hailey R. Unfortunately, the lesson lasted less than 10 minutes, as Coach Hailey R asked my son to leave the class without completing it. The reason was that my son was afraid to dive into the water. Instead of using patient teaching methods or encouraging techniques (such as toys, tools, or gradual water introduction), Coach Hailey R forced him into the water. Naturally, my son was scared and held onto her arm tightly. At that point, the instructor simply removed him from the class. This approach was very discouraging. A new coach should give students time to get familiar and comfortable, not force them or dismiss them from class so quickly. We drive about 30 minutes to attend these lessons because we want our son to improve his swimming skills. To have the class end after just 10 minutes without proper effort to teach is very disappointing. Most of the coaches at this school have been excellent, and my son has made good progress over the past year. However, sometimes coaches are changed without notice, and my son needs time to adjust to a new instructor. Coaches with patience, teaching skills, and understanding can make this transition smoother. I hope the school can review this situation and ensure that instructors approach students--especially those meeting them for the first time--with patience and proper teaching methods. We value this school and want our son to continue learning here, but we ask for better support and understanding from all instructors. read more

If you have a kiddo afraid of putting their head under water or just need more confidence in a pool, I recommend this establishment. My son went from not enjoying the water due to being afraid, to advancing to level 6 over the last year. He is so confident and it makes me proud to know he would be ok in water if needed. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. From the second you walk in to the second class is over all the staff is just amazing. My daughter has been going here for about 2 years now and looks forward to each class. The staff at the front desk is always so welcoming and quick to help with any questions. Julie and Brooke are always listening to anything I need to accommodate classes for my daughter. The place is always well kept clean. They have many changing rooms and even offer a station to help dry your child's swimsuit. Overall just an awesome helpful place for everyone's little ones to start learning. Coach Karen is seriously one of a kind. She really pushes my daughter to do each exercise and gives you the right tips so you can even help your little ones at home. I would not recommend this place. Like another review mentioned, your kid probably spends about 6 minutes with the instructor in a group. They waste the last 3 minutes of instruction splashing or doing something that's not lesson related. Then they get out 2 minutes early to walk out; sometimes your child is even checked in late. Instructors are young, immature, and don't have customer service skills. A few times my child was ignored at the check-in door while the rep just stood there without acknowledging her and didn't ask if she needed to be checked in. For the amount of money being spent, look somewhere else. *The last name should be in your system, but nothing will change my mind at this time, thanks anyway. read more

Just started mommy and me swim lessons here with my 7 month old. Overall it's a great place because pools are nicely heated. Lots of changing areas, swimsuit dryers, snacks available for purchase and great seating area to watch the kiddos. All of the staff are very helpful and communicative with parents about their children's progress in pool. It's definitely more expensive than paying for lessons at a city pool but worth the price for all the amenities and small class sizes. My only complaint is some instructors are better than others so be sure to shop around with different instructors to find the right fit for your child. read more

My son 3.5 yrs old with autism was able to have his ABA therapist join him in the swim session and it went great. The staff and coach communicated and worked with Lucas ABA therapist very well. Very expensive for the amount of time spent with my kids and most of that time was spent dunking their heads underwater. Between my 2 children they probably had about 8 mins of instruction combined in a 30 minute class. . not to mention the last 5 mins of class was the instructor giving high fives over and over .. for $250 a month it was a total waste of money. Hello. I would not recommend this swim school to anyone. I would recommend private lessons somewhere; maybe the YMCA. The group lessons are 30 minutes, but Ive timed my son actual turn to swim in the group and it totaled average 3 min and 20 secs out of the thirty minutes every time. He goes twice a week for 236 a month. Also, if you want to cancel you have to remember to give a thirty day notice. Private lessons are more beneficial because the 30 minutes will be dedicated to your child. My son has been on level four for the past three months and no matter how much praise the swim coaches give him on his swimming he still hasn't moved up. Parents I suggest you guys get a timer out. We all have one on our phone . Every time your child moves from the edge and swims start the clock. When they sit back on the edge stop it. Do it each time they move away to swim and stop it when they aren't. You will see they are mostly sitting their watching versus actually practicing techniques. read more

I have been coming here for a year. All the employees are super friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is the cancellation policy. The cancellation policy does not take into consideration children get sick or emergency happens. If you schedule a make up and cannot make it, even if you ask in advice...you lose that make up. Im honestly super frustrated by this policy. We were out of town and cancelled and scheduled a make up in advance. The day of the make up class, my daughters woke up sick. I had to take them to the doctor. They had cold/flu and stomach virus. I called in advance to see if I could reschedule our make up and was denied. Today I was scheduled a make up but our car didn't start as we were leaving. By the time we move our daughter's car seats and things to our other car we wouldn't have made it in time. We probably would have made half the class. I called to see if I could move it to later time. Unfortunately, there was no class available. & due to this ridiculous policy, we lost another make up class. It's super frustrating that is the policy. You should be able to reschedule a make up. The school we attended prior to aqua tots allowed you to make up a make up, I wish this school was a little more lenient. Like I said, my daughters enjoy coming here and the staff is great. I'm just super frustrated by the make-up policy and wasted money I'm spending on classes that I can't attend due to legit reasons. read more

2 months in and so far we are very happy with the level of service and instruction my 2 boys are receiving. Place is very well laid out and decorated so my kids absolutely love coming here. Ive had interactions with many staff members as well as the owner and they have all been very upbeat and positive for which I am extremely grateful. One of my 2 boys is autistic (10y/o) and he had been afraid of the water his entire life, especially head under water. Here he has no problem following along with the class and has even gained a lot of confidence around water which also really pleases us. We've been coming here for about 6 weeks and we love it. The staff that works at the front desk are always nice and greet you when you walk in. They are also helpful if you have any questions. The amenities are really nice too. They have rooms to change your clothes, bathrooms, hair dryers, dryers to dry your bathing suit, snacks you can purchase and swim toys that they use during the lesson that you can also purchase. My daughter has Bryant as her instructor for level 3 and he does such a great job with her. She has learned so much in the short time she's been there. I also love that you get a report card at the end of every lesson to let you know of your child's progress. We'll definitely be continuing our lessons here and I would definitely recommend this place for swim lessons. read more

We were going there for almost 7 months. I wanted to wait for my review once we tried out another facility. After going to another company for swimming lessons I can see 100% clearly on what we went through. It has proved to me this was a glorified water play date I was paying for. My son was stuck for months with crying 2 year old kids, big classes 4:1 ratio, and with little actual time learning during the 30 minute class. He's now in a school where they only do 3:1 normally it's only 2:1. It doesn't feel like a sea of children and chaos. He's actually swimming independently in less than a month. I wish I would have pulled him sooner from here and went with my instinct sooner. So much money wasted here. Go with your instincts, if your kid is not progressing here it's probably not your kid it's the facility. I do have to say Gigi is a sweetheart and my son really liked her as a person I don't think it's the swim "instructors" faults, it's the way the program is. They are doing what they are told. If you're a busy family and need an establishment to be a bit more compassionate and understanding go else were. I recently had a baby and due to my husband's work schedule we had no one to take our son to his *pre-paid lessons. I called to reschedule but in all honesty time passed me by. (Moms of a newborn, you understand). When I spoke to the front desk manager all she stated and repeated was the policy. If I pay for the next month my son can do the make up classes. If the classes are already paid for why do I have to pay again? To stay enrolled? Really? You can't make an exception. Rules are rules I get it. But damn, this place isn't cheap just to get a "oh well that's all we can offer response" Denise (front desk manager) told me ," I'm actually helping you." No you aren't , you're just reading a script. Oh and when I asked to speak to her boss , Denise came back on the phone just repeating the same thing. I own a business and I've been a manager, THERES ALWAYS ROOM TO HELP SOMEONE OUT. More than the script gives you. Disappointing. First, let me say that you cannot invest in a better program for your children.. this place is truly life saving and of course, fun! I took my kids to Cabo recently and they enjoyed all the pool amenities thanks to Aqua tots- without them, my kids wouldn't have been able to swim. What a relief! I just read a very disturbing yelp review and feel the need to address this. As a minority myself, I have never experienced racism here and definitely never by the owner, Julie. She has been nothing but kind, compassionate, and probably the most dedicated business owner I've ever met my entire life. In fact, I had a similar situation where I wanted to grab coffee next door and I was told that I couldn't leave. I once forgot my kids' towels and Julie offered me spare ones. I've witnessed her interactions with members for almost a year and she's incredibly personable and prioritizes safety- is that a bad thing?? Lol. All I can speak to is my experience and I'm pretty damn critical myself. Rules are rules- regardless of color. Btw, they have an incredibly diverse staff too.. It was my first time visiting this place, the girls at the register are super sweet and very informative, we arrived an hour early to try for a free swim lesson and the lady at the front was able to move our lesson 10 mins after arriving, so we didn't even have to wait, which was very nice of her! They have individual comfy seats right in front of the glass so you can watch your child, and quite a few tables with chairs around, so there's plenty of seating. They have blow dryers by the sinks so you can dry your child's hair before leaving, which is pretty neat to be able to use if needed. They have a refillable water station, which is free to use of course, lockers for your clothes, and plenty of stalls to change, and they even have juice boxes and drinks available for you and a ton of different snacks. It isn't like a huge place, it's a perfect size for your little one to learn to swim, the pool is right on your left as soon as you open the doors read more

My children love this place and I've loved watching them thrive and grow in their skills. My oldest started there just to get her comfortable and to learn to swim, and it's developed into a passion of hers that may turn into a sport. All of the coaches we've had are patient and do their best to make the kids comfortable. I love that you can cancel classes and have makeup passes so you can reschedule.
