1-Star Review for RT28 Motors - 137 Main St, North Reading, MA I bought a used 2017 RAM 2500 from RT28 Motors, and the experience has been extremely disappointing and costly. Within days, the truck failed the Massachusetts state safety inspection for major issues including: * Bad ball joints and tie rods * Broken side mirrors * Steering concerns * Suspension and emissions failures These weren't cosmetic issues -- they were safety violations that made the truck illegal to drive. Before the inspection, I had already raised concerns about the steering. I was told it was "just a wheel balance" and brushed off with "Are you a mechanic?". I was also promised in writing that repairs would be handled once the bank funded the deal. After they got paid, they delayed registration for nearly a month, preventing me from getting it inspected within the state's Lemon Law window. That's not just frustrating -- it's deceptive. By the time I could inspect it, I had to pay over $2,500 out of pocket for parts, labor, and a wheel alignment -- just to make the truck safe and legal. Now, after providing receipts, the failed inspection report, and documented communication, I've been ignored. Since posting about my experience, I've received multiple statements from other customers who say they also received vehicles with incorrect or unsafe parts installed. That's a pattern -- not a one-off. I'm not someone looking for a handout. I'm self-employed, sober 7 years, and a father of four -- including a newborn. I did what I had to do to keep my family safe. I've filed a Chapter 93A demand and will pursue legal action if needed. If you're considering buying here, think twice and get everything in writing -- including a full third-party inspection before you sign anything. read more

The salesman who I believe might be, the owner is friendly when he thinks he might get a sale, which is all well and good. However, he becomes indignant and overly aggressive if the buyer needs time to think over their potential car purchase. I would not go back or recommend for a car purchase for this reason alone. read more

I was in the market for a car for my daughter a few weeks ago, when a friend recommended this dealership, which is a good distance away from where I live and work but which was well worth the trip. Mike and Harry were very easy to deal with, the paperwork and process were quick and easy, and Mike was very responsive to my questions and concerns. I got a good car for a fair price and when the car encountered what turned out to be a minor issue, Mike made sure it was addressed at my convenience, which I find unusual these days even for a new car dealership, much less a used one. Very disappointed with this dealer. Would NEVER recommend them. They replaced a part in the vehicle that we were purchasing. The part was bad and they were aware of it since they had to take it to the dealer because it would not calibrate for them. Still working with a shop to try and get the part to Calibrate. The sunroof was completely rusted which caused over 2 inches of water leak into the driver's side which caused the elements go bad, which caused over $5k to fix the elements. That amount does not even cover replacing the sunroof. We can't open the sunroof without causing more water damage. Contacted the dealer once all these issues started, they told me it is a used vehicle and was over the warranty they provide. They are not responsible for anything and would not help with getting these issued fixed. Very poor business practice. Don't ever buy a vehicle from this dealership. read more

My first encounter with Matthew, (sales Manager), he was and is a very intelligent young man, (BUT) still a used car person. The owner, Harry I originally thought was there to help us out, (BUT AGAIN) a used car person. I'm not particularly happy when any person says to me quote, "I HAVE CALLS COMING IN UP THE WAHZOO, I CAN'T TALK NOW AND JUST HANGS UP ON ME". Maybe it's me but that simply didn't seem the appropriate thing to say or do. I did buy a car from them but the car had a bad transmission, which in the end was replaced. I recently purchased my 5th car from Rt 28 motors. Each and every time the deal was so easy to complete. It is more than refreshing to deal with an actual honest car dealer for a change. This is why we continue to purchase our vehicles from Rt 28 motors. They are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and most importantly HONEST!!! I bought a car off of them about a month or so ago and I'm very satisfied. When I first saw the car, there was a little fender bender but the car fax was clean. The price was a bit high and at first they weren't very negotiable, but they realized I had a car and asked if I wanted to trade it in. Surprisingly, they gave me a really high trade in value for my other car and he knocked off a couple of hundred off the price of the car I was buying. I am very satisfied with my purchase and when I got my car back after the bumper was fixed, I was very happy they didn't do a half ass job on it. They have a great selection of cars and these people know what they're talking about. Will definitely be referring this place to others! read more

Let me start off by saying i REALLY wanted to like this place since the guys seem to have a passion for cars and could speak well to the BMW I looked at. But BOBBY absolutely RUINED the experience for me. My story is kind of long, so I understand you won't finish reading it. To sum it up- DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE. Bobby is a PIECE OF SH*T, just wants your money and cars off his lot, and will nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. The 3000 mile "warranty" he offers is just to lure you in and is all BS. I would give him negative stars, but Harry and his Finance guy Brad aren't so bad. I've had to dump plenty of money into this car in a little over a month already. This dealer is one to stay away from- its worth paying a few hundred-few thousand dollars extra to have someone that doesn't need to screw you to get business. I would NOT recommend this dealership to anyone. Here's my story: I worked with Bobby, who is a partner in the business. The previous owner of the car I was looking at had removed the mufflers which means it probably wouldn't pass inspection, but he claimed he could get it passed. I asked him to install a proper muffler system on it, and I would sign the paperwork that day. He was willing to give up the deal over a fairly inexpensive muffler system. After the nickel-and-diming game that Bobby started, the other partner (i think) named Harry and I agreed on a price that included $250 (fair price, but i don't think I should have had to pay it) to install the exhaust, regardless of what it costed him. 4-5 days later I picked up the car and noticed that the car was vibrating, particularly when I pressed the brakes. And the new exhaust was rattling a lot. No big deal- I brought the car back to Rt. 28 Motors and left it for the day. They claimed to have fixed the problem, but it still persisted. I spoke to Brad who told me "Yea, thats definitely a problem, there's definitely a shake- bring the car back and we'll take care of it" I brought it back again, was told it would be done in 2 hours. I waited there for 3 hours, at which point I was told that it would take much longer for them to finish the car. Fine- I got a ride home after wasting the 3 hours. I came back to pick it up and Bobby said they used OEM parts this time (why weren't they doing that the first time??) Still vibrating. A few hours later a "brake" light came on the dash. I decided to take the car to NTB as I have the lifetime alignment and balancing package with them. And figured it might be good for a third party to spot any problems. Told them I experienced a shake when I drove the car. They tried to balance the wheels, at which point they told me that at least 3 of the 4 rims on the car were bent, and that the brake pad sensor was installed incorrectly and was torn and clipped off. I got it in writing and brought the car to RT. 28 motors again, where I told the mechanic exactly the problems I experienced, the brake sensor light being on (harness clipped) and shaking. I left the paperwork from NTB sitting over the steering wheel with all the problems written out. I left the car there for the day. I get a call at 7 pm from Bobby asking me when I am coming to pick up the car- I never even got a phone call saying the car was ready! I asked him if they looked over the wheels and sensor, and Bobby got defensive. He started yelling over the phone saying "Im not even making any money on this car, I don't need to help you once it passed the inspection!!" It resulted in Bobby yelling and swearing on the phone and ultimately hanging up on me. I call back, and Brad picks up the phone this time and asks me to wait until the following day and they'll get it fixed. The next day I get a call from Bobby stating the car is ready for me to pickup. He acted as if he knew nothing about the argument we had the previous night and simply stated "the parts that we HAD to fix were replaced, so you can pick it up now. Bye." very nonchalantly, as if I was going to come happily to get my new car that drives like shit. I never write reviews, but I had to for this. The owner is extremely ignorant. Had to wait for over a month to get money that I was owed. the general manager kept telling me the check was going to be sent in the mail. I kept waiting and waiting. I called again and the owner answered and told me the books were closed and he didn't owe me anything. Even though legally he did owe me money. He told me that the deal should have never happened and my car was never worth what I got for it and the whole thing should be reversed. It went on for a while. What he didn't mention though was the car that he sold me was over priced by $3,000. That's ok that there car wasn't worth what they got for it though. On top of it I've had the car for 3 months and have been having a lot of problems. I've never been treated like this at any other dealership ever. Stay away! This is why you shouldnt go to little crappy dealerships to try to save money. Your better off going to a real dealership. Now let them write there bull response to this review about how they are all for the customer and they feel awful just to make people feel like they actually care. I had been looking around at other dealerships and had never felt as pressured to buy as I did at Rt 28 Motors. The manager insisted that I leave a deposit, when I wasn't ready. To convince me, he quoted me a price that WAS Not the final price . When I went back to sign the papers the price was MORE THAN the QUOTE he gave me! The entire time he kept giving me numbers, but when I asked for the final price he just would say " We'll get to that " I wish I never bought from Rt 28 Motors and I wish I was a better consumer! read more

Had a good experience with them..My first encounter was Bill He covers Sundays and very experienced with insurances. Bobby knows his cars impeccably. He is patient and excessively knowledgeable about cars and will find u the right car without feeling pressured. Sam is the repairman and its been 5 months and car running well. Tony is a quiet man that has great stories of the past . Harry is the financial guru that will find u the best loan and the lowest too. My car hasnt been serviced yet and I am hoping the extended warranty fulfills my expectations. Bobby, the main salesman, straight up lied to me in order to sell me the car. I bought a used 4x4 from out of state. After months of looking, I found what I was looking for at Rt28 Motos. I knew from pictures that there were some dings, etc., so I called and was directed to Bobby. I said I was ok with dents, upholstry, etc., I was willing to invest some in a a 4x4 to build a nice off-road rig; the ONLY thing I needed was for the frame to be in solid condition. He assured me it was, said he had "driven it himself" and it "drove great" and was a great car, even had another phantom buyer who happened to be wanting to buy it at the same time I called. I am generally a pretty skeptical person, and a pretty good judge of character, but anyone can be fooled, and this guy is charming and manipulative, unfortunately the stereotypical used car salesman; he convinced me that my minimal expectations would be met. Paid for it, paid to ship it. First thing, it was stunningly obvious there were major problems; the whole front end was noticeably sagging on the right; the wheel well measured 2" lower than on the left. Even a cursory look showed MAJOR RUST underneath. Took it several places, tie rod is broken basically unfixable, the frame and suspension components are so rusted out no one will even work on it. Felt lucky to unload it locally at a 90% loss because almost NO ONE would buy the car if they could see it in person. Bobby lied and lied and manipulated in order to make the sale. Never buy from here; he and anyone who would hire or partner with him deserve to go out of business. read more

Do not buy a car here unless you know for sure theirs nothing wrong with it. I ended up losing money and had no car for 1 month. Ended up trading the car original car for another. They will use any trick to keep your money and then act like they did nothing wrong and you wont realize until its too late. Back in august I went to go look at Nissan 350z but unfortunately was sold when I got there. I then started looking at a Subaru WRX and had a friend look at it with me. I liked the car and it seemed to be running fine. I then started negotiating with one of there sales people Bobby. He told me the car was WRX premium and he could not go any lower than $19,995 because the car had the price dropped that day which I confirmed because I looked at it online the day before. I asked if the vehicle had any accidents. he told me no but there was a gash in the bumper and according to car fax it was from an accident. Bobby then agreed to have the bumper fixed and car detailed because it was dirty (covered in bird poop). I then filled out the paper work paid $10k in cash and financed the rest. I then got the WRX a week later after signing for it. The car had the bumper fixed and was covered in white stuff and clearly wasn't washed. The other sales person told me its from the body shop and they didn't have time to clean it. So my friend and I took the car he drove because I still didn't know stick. so I got in the car in a empty parking lot and the check engine light came on. (I was attending tech school at the time) So i took out my scanner and it said my car had a misfire in cylinder 4. I ignored it because i though it was because i stalled the car. ( i later learned that wouldn't cause the light to go on) After a week of owning the car the light came on again and the engine seemed weak. I took the car back and informed there mechanic what happened. He agreed that it needed a tune. I then called a week after dropping off the car and got bobby on the phone and he said he will call me back in an hour. I never got a call back. So I called again the next day and was put on the phone with the owner. He told me they didn't know my car was there. Told me Bobby quit yesterday and didn't mention I dropped my car off for repair.He told he will call tomorrow with info on what wrong with my car. I got a call from the owner the next day and he told me it had failed compression test at Subaru. I then told him I wanted my money back because they had lied to me about car model, paint, and engine damage. He said no that he does not have to because he has 11 business days to fix it. He then also mentioned that i could trade it for another car but he wanted me to wait until the car was fixed. So after "owning" the car for a month I finally got the car back. I told the sales person I was not taking the car unless the I talked to the owner about getting some of my money back. So i talked to him the next day he told me he got the car fixed at Subaru and did the timing chain and water pump free of charge too. I found it hard to believe so asked for an invoice from Subaru. He then told me he actually took it to a specialist to have it fixed. He then made a call and I could not understand what he was saying because he was speaking in a different language. I told him I am not taking the car back and I wanted my money and he offered me a trade on any car on the lot within the price range. I ended up leaving with a 2013 Honda accord only because it still had a Honda warranty on it still and I didn't have to go back to them again. After owning it for a while the wax they had on it came off and i could see scratches all over. I could not do anything about that but the car is in decent mechanical condition. it needed brakes but i did those myself and looked over the car on a lift and found everything good. I ended up losing $2,500 in repaying fees and they took $500 of the "trade in" because i was the 5th owner the WRX i said fine just to get out of there. I later posted what the dealer had done to me on a car group called masstunning and found 3 other people who had the same exact issues except theirs ended up worse than mine. You should not do business with these people unless you are very good at buying cars or have a lawyer ready. unfortunately for me I had my car break down and was desperate and too trusting but i will not make that mistake and will never go back to this place. read more

Went to check out a rare car I've been trying to find for a year. Found one at a local dealer and it was not as advertised, by any means. Saw the car I wanted on line, with honest mileage and reasonably priced. Had my mechanic check it out. They said the car was in great shape and as advertised. Harry was very professional, as were all staff. This is a family owned business that is fair and honest. Although I didn't buy the car (wife didn't think a sports car was in the budget), the guys were great about the whole thing. We sat and talked cars etc until closing. Trust me, you'll get an honest deal from this family owned business. I'll be back!! read more

These guys are fantastic!! They listened to my needs and wants and showed me cars they thought matched my desire. I didn't feel any pressure throughout the entire process and I looked at multiple cars. After I decided on a car the process to purchase was just smooth and went better than I could have hoped. My credit is extremely bad and at first I laughed when they said they could get me financed. Not only did they get me financed, the rate is terrific (for me). Route 28 motors in north reading sucks, like bad they are the biggest scum bags ever i bought a 2007 jeep wrangler sahara in feb 2015 ive had it for just barely a year and in that time my soft too was missing screws so when i went to open it it got all bent and the top got a tear in it, now i know why they wouldnt open it for me when i was looking at it, followed by my fuel pump shiting the bed followed by my drive shaft snapping pulling away from a stop light, then about a week ago 11 months into the car my clutch just blew out. I forgot to mention in the beginibg of this review the battery shit the bed 3 months into having it. Bottom line is they sell shitbox lemons. And one of thr times i was at the dealership complaining a woman pulled in in the hot july heat with her ac blowing hot air. Hmm anthor lemon?
