I explained I was unable to do so at this time he said leave the truck and I'll take care of it first thing in the morning. All day went by next day finally I called him and he said oh sorry can't get a tire for you until end of next week my vendor is at the other of end of New England. Makes no sense he could get 4 tires if I wanted to take his recommendation but because I want one tire suddenly can't get one. I find it hard to believe he has a tire vendor over 40 miles away All the reviews on google say the similar experience. After previously having a terrible experience with a repair shop on Bridge St that I paid & failed to fix the service engine light, I was desperately looking to find a mechanic that I can trust. After carefully searching online I came across SWAT and I'm glad I did ! I took my car here for the first time, and I can honestly say it will not be the last. After explaining to Steve the bad experience I had with the previous mechanic, Steve took my car right in even though he had other cars to work on. Steve was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Because of what I had gone through with the previous mechanic, Steve gave me a big break with the cost of labor, who does that ? it proved to me that Steve truly cares about his customers & does not put profit over customer satisfaction and it is very hard to find a mechanic like that nowadays. Steve fixed the issue with the service engine light which made it possible for me to get the inspection sticker just in time. Steve explained everything in detailed before and after the job was done and took the time to show me the parts that were replaced, explain what the issue was and how the parts work. Lowell gets a bad rep in Mass for being unkind to out of towners but with the amazing service I got, I thought I was in Newton, Westin or some place fancy. I was in a minor fender bender the day before and stopped in to ask if they could do a quick visual on my car. I met with Stephen, the owner and he was so kind and generous to help me out. He said my car looked fine from the accident but expressed genuine concern for my tires. (Oops) Specifically I was at risk for getting in an accident due to there being virtually no more treads. Then he casually mentioned (without judgment! Stephen was so kind!!) that my car inspection was expired. (Oops oops). Super understanding he said he could inspect my car but that I would need to get new tires before I undergo the inspection. He was unable to do the work himself, but directed me where to go and even called the place to let them know I was coming. But wait, there's more! He was only opened until 2pm on a Saturday and said he would still be around at his shop until 5pm if my tires took longer and I couldn't make it for 2pm. I showed up at 2:45pm (without calling Oops ooops ooops) and as a man of his words, he was there, and inspected my car! Stephen was so kind and while I waited he chatted with me and talked about his love for animals. We just moved to Lowell and were in desperate need of a great local shop to take car of our two cars. From there initial inspections for registration through a few major repairs and all the oil changes in between, these guys have been incredible. This is the kind of local shop that the neighborhood kids bring there bikes to for air in there tires and help getting the chain back on; just a great bunch of guys who are passionate about cars and about treating their customers well. They've gone out of there way to fit in last minute repairs, and accommodate our budgets, even saving us a few hundred dollars on a replacement we'd been told by another shop we needed, but they repaired the parts that were there and had us up-and-running right away. We're so fortunate to have a shop like this in our neighborhood, but I'd encourage anyone in the area to use these guys for their general repairs. It's absolutely worth the trip. read more

I brought my car in for the annual inspection last month. There was body damage that I thought would probably cause the car to fail inspection and I was right. I was quoted $255 to fix the damage and I agreed. Turned out they only charged me $143. How often do you end up paying less than the quoted price? They were also kind enough to pick me up and bring me back to get my car when my ride fell through. Very professional, very courteous. read more

Steven is knowledgeable and has a lot of experience under his belt but he seemed to take the 'cut the leg' approach when I brought my car to his shop, by advocating to fix more parts that weren't part of the problem. My car's RPM was bouncing and he wanted to replace more parts than necessary. Of course this also increased the bill. I visited another shop and they verified my skepticism as they were able to isolate the problem. read more

I needed to have my non-functioning A/C system diagnosed before an upcoming heat wave and I was actually pointed toward S.W.A.T. by a different shop that strongly recommended Stephen and his team. It turns out I needed a relay for my A/C compressor and the team at S.W.A.T. was able to have my car in and out same day (about 3 hours total from when I got there at 10am). Everyone there was really nice. Stephen is hilarious and a real wordsmith, using a lot of similes and figurative language to bring things to life when he's explaining automotive concepts. very expensive. Do not go there or even think to repair your car there. I went to him twice because he is the nearest workshop to my house. He took 45 dollars for oil changing ( you can do that for only 29 dollars in many other workshops in the same area ). In the other time I went there, I needed to repair my emergency break. He took 35 for diagnostics and asked me for 783 dollars to get the job done. I did it somewhere with 391.23 dollars ONLY !!!! read more

I was in a total bind. My car broke down and wasn't starting. I was visiting from Florida and had to leave the next day. Called my dealership and they said they wouldn't even be able to touch my car until the following Monday because nobody would be open to do anything on a Saturday. Looked up SWAT and they said it's not problem as long as I could bring in my car before they closed at 2pm. Came in on the tow truck and within an hour my car was all set to go. This place is a joke. My wife took her car for an inspection & they claimed she needed $1,000 of repairs to pass. We took it to another shop they fixed 1 thing for $300 & it passed inspection. I took my car their and asked to have it checked for an exhaust leak & they said they are going to charge to check. PLEASE!!! Where i'm from they check for the issue then give you the price of repair. Any shop charging to look at your car needs to be ashamed of themselves that is a clear indication they are about shady business!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THESE CROOKS!!! read more

This is the worst inspection station ever! Please do not bring your vehicle here. I don't usually write a review but I am doing this one. I went in there to do an inspection sticker and my car was running well and everything, the engine light was not on and running smoothly as I just did the tune up They failed my car because they said me strut is not good. I disagree. Also, they failed my car because they said my head light was not visible and dark and I explained to him that that the head light cover is something that I could cleaned and he was very unprofessional and states "I am an emission inspector I am not a cleaner" he got so defensive - poor customer service. This is a 2005 car in 2018 and they want the car that has no engine light on to be perfect otherwise. He also said that 1 of my seat belt could not click in. These are reasons why they failed the car. They were very extreme. I have been inspecting cars for many yearrrrrrrrrrrs and this folk made me wait for about one hour and still they went extreme and over bearing on inspecting and failed the car. I will tell all my family and friends never to go here. When I contested the result with him, he said that " I am just doing my job all other inspection stations are not doing their job well that why they are passing cars"- unprofessional blaming the whole world for their problem. I will never go there again to do anything. please stay away. I am very sure this business will close down soon for lack of good customer service. I have gone there a few times over the past three or more years and their bills always seemed very high. Finally the last time I took my Kia minivan there, Steve Swatt would not tell me how much the repair bill was over the phone. When I picked up the vehicle, he disappeared and I was presented with a bill for over $1,000.00 for changing a ball joint, changing oil and oil filter and a front end alignment. Amongst over things I was charged an hourly rate to change my oil; it allegedly took them 54 minutes to change the oil and oil filter and they SAID they put high performance synthetic oil in the minivan. I took the vehicle to another repair shop and that other repair shop showed me the standard time charges and costs of parts used - SWAT Automotive doubled the costs of ALL parts and doubled the time allocated for repairs over standard time allocations! SWAT Automotive is a rip off and I would never go there again! read more
