I don't know what they did to my old watch, but I have to say that it is working better than it ever has. From the very beginning, iIt would always gain a few minutes every few weeks - enough that it had to be reset all the time. In a month and half, it hasn't gained or lost 1 minute! He mentioned that he no longer sells clocks because he stays too busy and doesn't have time to deliver, but the shop still has some really neat clocks and artifacts throughout the store along with paintings and photos of him and his family everywhere. It gives the place a warm, unique feel that you do not find often anymore. I came in to have links removed from my new watch and to get batteries replaced in two other watches. Even though it was pouring rain that Saturday, Van kindly offered for us to stay and wait out the storm. That level of hospitality really stood out to me for an all-around great experience. Today, I found Estate Watch & Jewelry Buyers (AKA Houston Gold Buyers) online and the reviews seemed better. I went here first with two others I never needed. This 35+ year business is run by a father-daughter team. Very small and friendly. They have a machine that scans for gold or silver content and will also indicate gold plate, copper, etc. Everything seemed very fair. They have to make a profit so don't expect full gold value, etc. I sold a small gold coin and 3 rings and was paid with cash. They do thumbprints, pictures and ID checks.
