As a visitor, I didn't find RTD useful. The downtown stops on the train were shut down because of construction. The remaining lines just didn't go where I wanted them to go, and the hours are limited. For some reason, they don't want to adopt Apple/Google Pay. NYC, Philadelphia, LA, DC, SF, etc. all accept Apple Pay. RTD is behind the curve. read more

RTD is a decent system, they have a lot of routes. The busses are always clean and the operators mind their own business for the most part..the people who ride the bus are usually pretty respectful minus the occasional person that overreacts to something completely random. I have not seen much drug use or crime on the bus. Public transportation is what it is, public transportation. You're surrounded by a bunch of people that you don't know.. I've had one negative encounter with an operator in the 5 years that I've been taking RTD AND THATS SAYING A LOT!! read more

I cannot understand why they are charging customers for the train right now when the services are completely unreliable. People are waiting for over an hour and the trains are running only once an hour each way. It's a ridiculous nightmare everywhere you go. Everyone is constantly late and not able to make it on time anywhere and this will carry on until September. Customer Care doesn't have answers and the black computer screen at every station is giving information that is misleading to customers. I have already taken two Ubers today because public transit was not a reliable source. Customer Care saying sorry doesn't help. Having guards that are forbidden for checking fares does not help, not good samaritans still pay. I was riding the H line from Nine Mile to Colfax at Auraria and I was standing near some girls just minding my own business and some middle age latino man asked which station I'm going and then accused me of messing with thoses girls who are also going to Auraria Campus and it was also finals week and then the H line got out of service and we had to wait in the Alameda station for another H line and then the guy got on the E line and I told him to not mess with me and then he jumped off the train and tried to attack me and I pulled my pepper spray to back him off and then he got back on the E line and I would never mess with women and it would be really stupid; at the end, I told those girls "Good luck on finals" and thats it. I don't think I'm gonna feel safe riding the light rail. The man was probably on drugs or something. read more

When visiting family in Colorado I know I can take Denver RTD to get somewhere close to where they are safely and at a reasonable price. People writing negative reviews for Denver RTD need to experience other transit systems to appreciate what they have. Many people know the RTD system in Colorado as the many buses and trains that transverse the cities, towns, and neighborhoods of mostly metro Denver. I recently was able to partake both the buses and the light rail. I found most of them are on time, clean, and the drivers are respectable and friendly. ( even though you are not allowed to interact with them while they are driving ). Now I wont say that the RTD system is perfect or the buses or trains will be exactly on time 100% of the time, like everything else there is the possibility for error. If you find yourself committed to a long distance daily commute either for work or school, the light rail system would be your best bet. ( provided you live close to one of the many train station platforms ) I found it to be a good alternative to the daily grind of driving a car, both in cost savings and having to deal with long stressful traffic situations plus driving into downtown Denver and trying to find parking can be quite a hassle at times. Most trains and busses operate almost 24 hours a day ( 5am to 1am, I believe) and most trains run on a 15 min interval, so theres usually always one available. read more

H line is hardly reliable. It is 50/50 if it shows up on time or even shows at all. I have been taking this line for over a year and kinda fed up but it is the only transportation I have as a student. If rtd tried to put automated updates if the line was down on their website or even update their times properly on Google maps I would have given another star. I have literally been stranded downtown in heavy snow because they decided to stop. I get off work and am done studying around 10pm! It costs $60 in miserable weather to get an Uber to where I live which is a 20 minute drive. read more

Pretty sure the E line driver was day drinking today. The starts and stops were ridiculously jerky and they overshot several stops more than normal, one so bad the doors would not open on one of the cars, we couldn't get out and were stuck there for another stop. Also, the amount of crack heads hanging out at the stops is increasing, peeking into train cars while it's stopped, hopping on to see if security is checking tickets to get free rides, and so on. read more

Absolutely terrible. Most unreliable transportation system I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Bus drivers are constantly showing up early not waiting at bus stops like they are supposed to or not showing up at all. I've been stranded out in snow, told I cannot bring my electric scooter that folds on the bus even though I called customer service and they told me I could. Dealt with completely unacceptable rude behavior from bus drivers including having the door closed in my face in 8 degree weather because I had an electric scooter, threatened by a bus driver by being told he would leave me stranded if I ever tried to bring my scooter on the bus again. This company will hire any atrocious disrespectful bottom feeder they can and don't do anything when they are nasty to paying customers. Do not recommend at all. read more

Pros: Multiracial manager who enjoys feel-good diversity celebrations and might be familiar with the happiness industry. I would consider several people within the Division to be people I would want to hang out with outside of work. Morale-boosting potlucks. Safe space for men and women of color with an obvious physical disability who have a focus on equity. Cons: Perfectionist mgr steeped in white culture is so afraid of conflict that he books up his calendar, rapidly heading toward burnout by his own choices, and won't give honest feedback or will laugh condescendingly when judging people. He also only communicates so he won't get in trouble. The new hire is so interested in brown-nosing that she will tell me to leave in her comments but will delete mine and lock me out of addressing her comments prior to manager review multiple times. When I have told her multiple times to collaborate with me in Notes view, she withholds all her content, which is basically just my content reorganized and tells me to delete all my original content, leaving only hers. Some of these changes are removing the Oxford comma, which should have been mentioned as a style preference upfront. I was being treated as a literal seatwarmer and given busywork that was all deleted in the end. Bad for TLGBQ+ Muslims with a mental or invisible physical disability who hope to belong or to make rapid change to systemic racism. This new person was hired to be my replacement but what bothered me ethically is the fact that I was told I was doing a good job and that I was forced to work side by side with this person for 6 more months with my boss not telling me to my face that she was my replacement. If this is how I felt within DEIB, how does the organization expect the equity department to make positive changes to the rest of the organization and community if we can't even figure out inclusion and belonging (not to mention dignity, justice, and cultural competence)? Don't be fooled by the fact that RTD has had a Black man or woman at the helm for 10 years or so; riders are well aware how little the organization cares for DEI initiatives. It's like putting Clarence Thomas or Ben Carson in charge. While I came into it with the goal of making change in the community, the company came into it with the goal of checking a box to cover their behind. Advice for Management: Perfection is the enemy of good. Don't be afraid of conflict. Don't burn out. Give honest feedback. Do not be condescending. Don't only communicate to avoid trouble. read more

All they do is blare their horns when you're trying to sleep, even though it's supposed to be a "no train horn zone", then the one time you decide to take the train, they cancel the train on you! Very frustrating experience at the 61st & Pena St station. We always use this location to park our car for travel and take the light rail to the airport. When we arrived on 3/1/2020 there were no ticket machines! There were signs posted about using PayandPark.com, however it was not active yet! Fortunately we ran into another rider who directed us to the app we needed and we were able to pay for the parking. When we returned to the station yesterday we saw numerous parking citations on cars. We suspect these travelers ran into the same issue as we did. RTD should have at least one ticket machine available for parking. You should not expect everyone to have a cell phone with app capabilities. It is our opinion this has been poor execution on the part of RTD and all cars with the parking violations should be waived. read more

Recommendation : Do not rely on RTD to go to work, you'll be late, all the time. I just can't understand what is wrong with the E line, they said they don't have enough drivers but, while I was waiting for the E line, I saw 4 W lines and 4 C lines go by before the E line showed up - extremely packed. It is so unreliable - waiting 50 minutes for the light rail in this cold is unacceptable. I'm not even going to talk about the extremely rude bus drivers, I feel like they actually hire anyone. Bad driving, missing stops, always late, trash on the floor, and drivers not giving a fuck about riders. read more

This is the end of the line for the "D" Line. It's a great inner-urban connection point from downtown to catch all of these public transportation routes12 28 38 43 AF. From 10th and Osage to the airport is a total of 80 minutes and costs $11. $2.25 for the lightrail and then use your ticket at the AF Skyride to discount the Skyride cost to $8.75. When I don't want to spend $65 for a cab and I have time, this is perfect. It's always busy with bus connections. A downside is that it's a bit rough around the edges. I use the network every day. I catch buses mostly. I haven't been on a bus that is hygenic. Usually smell of urine, vomit and smoke from people smoking crack at the back. Most riders don't wear their masks. I see violence on the bus or at bus stops every single day I ride. I have been harassed and so I carry a stun-gun. This is the worst public transport system I've been to in my travels around the world and across the US. Something drastic needs to change. read more

I've consistently had problems with RTD not being on time, cancelling rides, not keeping buses clean and bad drivers. They also don't have frequent enough service, or comprehensive enough service. But now they've really taken the cake by not helping me find my wallet. I got off the bus around 10 last night (Friday) and as soon as I got in my house, which is almost right in front of the stop, I noticed my wallet was gone. I ran out to look for it in the street then got in my car and tried to track down the bus. I caught up with one that I thought could be it, but it wasn't. I asked the driver if he was the one who picked me up by giving the time and stop and he said he didn't know. What? You don't know your route? He also didn't seem to care that I was trying to find MY WALLET and offered no assistance in contacting the right people. (He also wasn't in any hurry to get me off the bus so he could continue his route. He just didn't care at all.) I then called the customer service line and entered the prompts for lost and found, but it was outside normal calling hours, so it just hung up on me. On their website they claim to be more active in finding wallets but I couldn't reach anyone. I filed an online report and this morning I noticed that the confirmation email had a different prompt to press than what I found online. I tried that and got to someone, but it was within normal calling hours, so I don't know if it would have worked last night. If so, IT NEEDS TO BE MORE CLEAR. The person I talked to said they couldn't help me until the next business day, which would be Monday, despite the fact that they claim to try harder to find important things like wallets. If it was found by their staff or someone who is good and honest, it's sitting in the facility's supervisor's office right now, and they can't contact them!? So no, they don't try harder. And now I'm stranded without my license, my bus pass and any way to pay for things like gas or food and fuck me, right? RTD as an organization is a lazy, unreliable, apathetic liar that doesn't take its role in society, or the people that rely on it, seriously. read more

RTD is a classic example of a poorly run government funded project. They refuse to listen to customer input, the buses arre constantly late, and the drivers all onow it is a dead end job. I would give it one star except I save a lot of money using it. Did I mention a ticket for the day is 10.50? Maybe try running some express buses to justify that absurd expense. I know nobody from RTD will see this review or care about me but maybe someone will read it and realize that this "business" is a poorly managed joke of a service. There's a reason people call RTD "reason to drive". I'm speaking now of light rail. Pros: trains at least try to run every 15 minutes. Cons: bums and homeless riding trains for free, sleeping on trains and even in elevators at several stations. Smoking on trains and platforms especially pot. No security or police around platforms I frequent or on trains, I've seen one officer in eight months. Trains are dirty inside as are elevators at stations. Trains do NOT run almost twenty four hours a day like they used to, in fact, last E train southbound from Union Station shows at around 10:15 PM. RTD, take note if anyone there ever reads these reviews: schedule more trains later, and more trains actually stopping at Ball Arena for Avalanche and Nuggets fans ( last game attended two trains designated "out of service " passed crowded platform pissing riders off), which is totally ridiculous. Now for FlexRide, also a joke. Booked several rides with drivers never showing up and one going to the wrong apartment complex causing me to be late for work finding alternative transportation. read more

Hit or miss service. Don't plan on RTD if you are on a schedule. If you are hoping to take the AB1 to the airport, they will leave you stranded if the bus is full (which means 15 people due to virus restrictions). Most places outside of Denver, the routes are not practical and the schedules are not realistic, and there is often not room if you do not get on at the very first stop of a route. CU students are forced to buy an RTD pass in their student fees, its more like a tax as you don't actually get any service. read more

I am so disappointed in the lack of customer service from RTD. I ordered a My Ride card over a month ago, and for the third time, I've had to call to ask where it is. For some reason, they keep sending it to an address where I haven't lived for two years. It's not even on the confirmation or on my profile. Today I called to ask if the lightrail is stopping at certain locations, because there are signs saying there is a disruption of service through July 22nd. The person with whom I spoke on the phone said to me, "Well, today is the 24th". I'm well aware of how to read a calendar. I told him people are confused about the RTD signs. He said he would contact someone, but I doubt it. You want people to use your services, but yet you can't get your service together. read more

I'm not sure who is in charge of scheduling the A-Line trains, but their incompetence is baffling. Constantly stopping and sitting still in the middle of nowhere while we wait for another (nonexistent half the time) train to pass because they cut costs with using a single rail for long stretches. The Lightrail was always scheduled just fine back when it first came out 20 years ago, not sure why the A-Line or G-Line for that matter run so shittily. It's like they have a chimp designing the software for them or something. Constantly running late and missing my connecting train because the scheduling is so poor. A commute that should take an hour and fifteen minutes tops always takes 2 hours or more. TLDR; Fuck RTD, they're a bunch of mooks. That is all. (Edit:11/29/19) FFS! Not too crazy about RTD. We decided not to rent a car while on vacation. Instead we opted to use the light rails and buses. But I have experienced better in other cities. Some buses only run once and hour. Some buses were a few minutes late. Even the light rail trains were labeled incorrectly. I will say that the train running from Union Station to airport is awesome. I really wish I could write a better review but I recently started a job downtown and now rely on RTD's light rail to get to and from work. I don't know if it's just a series of unfortunate events or an ongoing issue, but I have been pretty frustrated with the commute lately. Multiple times a week I've dealt with trains showing up late or skipping completely. I've been late to work more than once because of the train. Luckily, it happens to my other coworkers too, so they're understanding. If RTD was cheaper, it would be harder to complain. But a $10 train ride not showing up when expected, multiple times, is unacceptable. When the trains skip, the next train gets extremely packed because you essentially have 2x as many people on one train now. I have been on a train so crowded that people were leaning on the doors on a moving train because there was nowhere left to stand. That's pretty unsafe and not necessarily RTD's fault, but it gives you some perspective on how one skipped train can affect so many people. Another night there was some issue and the train skipped twice. The train was soooo full and eventually stopped at a stop and had to kick all of us off and put us on another train to get to the remaining stops. It was a nightmare, but I get that stuff happens sometimes. But, since this event, I have dealt with more skipped trains and it's frustrating. I think the most annoying thing is that RTD rarely explains or informs you of delays unless it's what they consider serious. Their app is not easy to understand and I never ever find it informational to where the train I'm waiting on is or when it will actually arrive. On a positive note, the trains are usually fairly clean and the ability to buy your fare on the app is cool. read more

Hubs is a regular RTD rider from Denver to Boulder on a daily basis. Compared to DFW, public transit is a godsend. Bus to the airport, around town, a light rail line that gets you to most places! It was awesome! Fast forward a few months and now that the shiny new object syndrome has worn off, I'm starting to see what the locals hate about the systems Unreliable scheduling, a website that isn't the most mobile friendly, and a lackluster app. Sure you can check out routes and timetables on their website but what's the use if the bus doesn't show up the entire hour and half that you're standing at the station. To echo some of the earlier reviewers, why doesn't the public sector borrow some of the best practices from the private sector like Uber and Lyft. They have their flaws but at least technology isn't left behind. I've been to DC & Portland and LOVED both of their transit systems.
