We arrived around 12 noon (not busy) and each ordered the lunch special. There are 3 different curry options along with choice of protein. Besides the curry, there was a small bowl of coconut soup, a small salad, egg roll, rice. The spice level is 1-5. I chose 3 and it was perfect for me! All was excellent! We saved room for dessert and I am so glad we did because the coconut ice cream with honey and peanuts as well as the mango sticky rice and ice cream were the BOMB! We often default to this Thai restaurant. We have tried several Thai restaurants in the Valley and keep coming back. They have a great menu and a nice enough dining room. Although the bench seats are broken down and u sit in a dip. I do have to mention though, the food flavors have changed a bit to the detrimental side since we first started eating here with the previous owners/cooks/management. The flavors aren't as apparent. Rather weak and plain. My two favorite dishes haven't the flavors they used to have. The Yellow Curry however is still the same. Ruan Thai is a rockstar of takeaway on the east side! We ordered a few dishes for a Sunday night feast, and everything was amazing. Dishes were cooked to perfection, and matched the spice levels we asked for. Dishes were well balanced and our protein choices cooked well. Ruan Thai may not be a place where you'd think about stopping for a quick, tasty lunch or a full Thai style dinner, but maybe you should. The $13.99 Lunch Specials (as of 22 Oct 2025) are well worth the price because they include a variety of main dish offerings in Tofu, Chicken, Pork, Beef, and Shrimp versions that come with soup, salad, and crispy fried egg roll. Mom really liked the filling and crunch of the egg rolls as well as the zero spice preparation on her Pad Thai, which is hard to find, since some spice is already in the sauce in traditional prep methods. And my beef with spicy Thai basil was a spot on 5 -- just enough heat to bead up some sweat, yet not enough to make me go looking for the milk jug. AND there was lists of beef in there -- where I was expecting a few narrow slivers, I found flavorful chunks -- kudos Ruan! The Pad Thai was also not as sticky as it sometimes can be, also a welcome change, because this made it much easier to twirl up the perfectly al dente noodles for joyful consumption. Service was friendly, of course, and the ambience was straight up Thai from front to back to music selections. This is a good family place that's quiet enough for a special dinner too, so it's easy to put this one on my hidden gems of Las Vegas list. Ruan Thai has a good selection, including dishes not often found at other local restaurants, including Pad Cha Talay (seafood w/mussels, squid, shrimp, & fish; spicy with herbs and fresh peppercorns, and slightly sweet). They also have a nice selection of drinks and desserts. We also tried the Larb (pork), and Spicy Basil fried rice (chicken), ordering spicy levels of varying degrees to gauge their range. Ruan Thai has a 1-5 scale of Thai "hot", versus Farang (aka gringo) "hot", so err on the side of caution if you aren't a Spice Connoisseur. My tip when ordering fried rice with a spicy level, order it 1 level down than you would a meat dish, because the rice grains absorb that spicy heat, and can easily be hotter than you expect. Service was friendly, the food and drinks were good, and prices reasonable. We will definitely be back to have more tasty Thai food in the future. note: Like many businesses nowadays, they do pass on the fees they incur on bank cards. Really enjoyed my dinner at Ruan Thai! My husband and I weren't that hungry so we just ordered the thai tea, crab rangoons, spring rolls, and seafood tom yum. Everything was so yummy! The only reason i'm not giving the full five starts was just because i thought the tom yum was a little too sweet for me even though i got spice level 4. Besides that everything else was so delicious! I want to go back soon when Im hungrier so i'm able to try more main dishes! Service was friendly and quick! Like most Thai restaurants; very friendly. My wife is from Thailand. This isan prepared food at home. I met the owner and her husband. Very nice couple. I ordered Sum Tum(papaya salad) and Pad Thai Talay, English transliteration, (Pad Thai Seafood). Placed an order for pick up, the Glass noodle salad, Pineapple Fried Rice & Orange chicken. Paid over $60 with tip to only get 4 shrimp. 2 with the rice & 2 with the noodles. When I called, the young lady who answered said the rice should have came with 5 pieces of shrimp. She put me on hold to ask the chef & they said it's to come with 2 pieces of shrimp. I try to give restaurants a chance when I get a bad meal, but this has happened too many times not to give up. I have eaten at this restaurant several times over the past year. It is a couple of blocks away and easy to get to. But today was the worst meal I've gotten anywhere. My go-to Thai meals are Penang Chicken and Pad See Ew Chicken. I stopped ordering Penang from this resterant a long time ago because it just wasn't any good. But for a while, the Pad See Ew was ok at least until today. The chicken was so overcooked and dry that the noodles were almost black. If you have ever eaten Pad See Ew, you know that it is not what it should look like. It was as if it had been cooked earlier in the day and left to sit. Then warmed up and added broccoli, which was the only fresh thing in the meal. Found this adorable place recommended by a friend. The inside is decorated classy and was well light . The waiter was nice and personable. The star of the show was the food!! The pineapple curry was light but had depth of flavor . The Spicy eggplant was amazing and filling. And the chicken wings were massive size. The crab rangoon was very good as well . 2.5 stars at most. foods were alright. My complaint is that they charged me $13.59 before tax for a $12.99 lunch special. I love to support moms and pops shop, but this place is not worth it. I even paid with cash. I guess most Asian places now charge 3% for card uses. Not that I mind, but I have to ask for a copy of the receipt but didn't check it til I was at home to find out that the prices were wrong. $13 for sticky rice mango without ice cream was not worth it. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:24pm on Friday night. The sign said open until 9pm. The large, red illuminated "OPEN" sign was on as well. There was one couple there in the the middle of their meal. I only saw one employee. He asked me if I was there for a pick-up. I told him that I was there for a dine-in meal. He told me that they were closed for dine-in's. I pointed to the the hours and "open" sign and gave him the look. He wouldn't back down so I told him that I would take my business elsewhere. And I did.
