For me, service is the most important thing, because that's where a human has total control, instead of a confluence of systems, rules and other nonsense standing in the way of progress. I had an amazing experience with Wanda and Eric, which started with a woman on the floor above whose name I didn't think to grab, but she was on her last day of seasonal employment and was trying to make sure she communicated as much knowledge as possible, so that I could get a good deal. I wanted two overcoats on sale in different colors in 48L, but they weren't in the store. I found out from the nameless saint mentioned above that as long as it's not in a specific clearance section, you can do that. Eric was really helpful but limited by being relatively new, so Wanda took over and contacted the site and a number of stores, trying to get someone to send the sizes I needed. Ultimately, it was a timing situation where none of the locations that stated having that size actually had it, so I walked out with a 48R in one color, which will work alright for me, and direction to the site, where I was able to get the other color in 46L, which will be a little tighter around the shoulders but more generous to my arms, and for 75% of the price of the other coat (the site only had like 40R in the first color, which would be impossible to Tetris myself into). Yes, people are paid to help, but times are tough, and sometimes it's hard to have the energy to help when you're underpaid and customers are jerks. I had the pleasure of working with Sam Hashmi and Cathy White at Macy's so I wanted to make sure I recognized them! I received a call from Sam and was invited to join a virtual Estée Lauder makeup tutorial. I was so honored and excited to be invited to this event!!! The event was interactive and very informative and I learned a lot from it. I can't explain how much I enjoyed it and look forward to more of these (like the upcoming one this Monday when I do the Smokey Eye tutorial ). I ended up purchasing some items that I have been wanting but just didn't know how to use them I was able to order over the phone with Sam and she was so helpful determining the shades I needed and made it very seamless!! Garbage company. The mechanism in our couch went out. They said originally it wasn't covered. They sent a technician out to see what was wrong and the tech said it was covered and that he'd order the part. Then they called and said the piece was covered years ago, then they stopped covering the piece coincidentally when we purchased the couch. But as of today the piece is covered again but we don't qualify. read more

Women's Shoes Not a great experience at all. There was a boot that I wanted.I asked if I could have it shipped to the store. The associated proceeded to tell me that I should have it shipped to my home, because she didn't know how to do it. I asked for a manager. Manger who's name is Ann comes over and before she even looked in the computer to see if she could get the boot sent to the store she told me that some items couldn't be delivered there. I found this very odd since I've had many shoes delivered to this Macy's before. She looks at me and tells me that I can pick up the boot at the University location. This location is located in Cleveland. I couldn't believe that she would send me a hour a way instead of doing her job and getting it shipped to her location. She then proceeds to ask me if I had another address to ship it too. I gave them an alternate address. Once in the car I called customer service and was told that the boot I purchased could've been delivered to the Akron location. I called Ann to tell her this. She spoke over me and wouldn't let me get out what customer service had told me. I ended the call. If this is how you train your managers and associates then maybe I should take that hour drive to Cleveland to see if I get better customer service. The salesman was very attentive, professional, knew what I was looking for based on description of the furniture. He even called to let me know that I was going to receive a bigger discount because the item went on sale after I bought it. Now, onto the issue. My furniture is late! Where is it?! I was told the 3-piece bedroom set was in stock. I called the general customer service line because my salesman was not working that day, very RUDE. I bought the furniture one month ago and still haven't received it. I'll have lived in my house for two weeks without bedroom furniture like a wierdo. No concessions made due to the inconvenience, just 'our appologies' useless. If I spend $1600 on furniture and you don't make a concession for being this late on delivery (when delivery costs $180 to begin with) you won't be getting my business again. read more

While in Akron on business, I discovered (actually 2 days prior, but who is keeping track) that I did not, in fact, have any cuff links. Of course, this wouldn't matter if I had, you know... shirts with buttons. But anyway.... This Macy's was about on par with other Macy's that I have frequented. What may have been lacking in selection was balanced by friendly and attentive staff. So...... did anyone else in the world know that there were DONALD TRUMP branded cuff links? So the reason I gave this one star was because I was in Macy's upstairs on the second level looking at bed sheets and beds and got kicked out because I was "not with my parents" and apparently "kids aren't allowed upstairs" to three 16 year old and he kicked us out and followed us to it was visible to where we went downstairs yet there were five other people up there shopping with their children. I feel very discriminated just because of my age and very disappointed in a major company that would do this. read more

Do not shop their furniture department. We ordered a couch in September 2015. It finally was delivered right before Christmas. It came in two pieces, but pieces were in different colors (must have been in different dye lots.) We were allowed to keep the couch while they made a new one. The new one was just delivered TODAY...7 months after we ordered. The important note is that Macy's never called once this entire ordeal. Our salesperson never once reached out to apologize or take care of us. Never shopping here again. read more

My reasoning for rating the store one star is because me and my friends were casually walking down the isles of the top section and one of the managers asks us where where our parents were. Mind you that we are all 16 and 17. We said no we said no our parents were not with us. He later told us that we were not allowed up here and forced us downstairs. I feel very disrespected. The store looks tidy and the staff is polite and helpful. I had an item reserved for pick up in the store and the process was a breeze. The staff both on the phone and at check out was very friendly. Ordered a deep fryer and IMMEDIATELY my credit card was charged. Three days letter got an email saying product was back ordered. Credit card was refunded. Called to cancel my order and then four days later got an email that product was sent. Credit card was again charged and then immediately refunded in the same day. Next day there was the charge AGAIN!!! After waiting on hold to speak to someone CLEARLY IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY my guess INDIA I was told sorry but the order was not properly canceled and I had the several option to get my money back if I did not want the product. I could refuse the product and it would be sent back to them and AFTER they received it they would issue a refund ( why in the world would I trust that option) or RETURN IT TO A STORE!!!! After searching for an employee in the lingerie department to check out, I had to resort to another service counter (this is completely normal to do). At this service counter, Ginger, the Macy's employee, was quite crude to me. After asking if I could use certain coupons she repeatedly, and blatantly, said no as if she was tired of my questions. This attitude continued, and when I told her that she was being unnecessarily mean, her coworker turned around and was equally condescending to me.
