If you want to save some money on test equipment repairs, look no further then Equiptek Labs…read more At work, one our signal generators stopped functioning, and I sent it out to our usual calibration lab for a repair quote. They wanted over $9000 to fix it. That was way too expensive, as we could just about buy a refurbished or used one for that price. I mentioned this to a coworker, and he told me that he sends most of his broken equipment over to Felix at Equiptek Labs due to their lower repair charge. I contacted Felix, and sent the signal generator over for a repair quote. His price was $1700, a savings of more than $7300! One reason Equiptek Labs can charge less is that they troubleshoot down to the component level, rather than swapping out modules, which is way more expensive. The problem turned out to be a shorted $3.50 capacitor. The corrupted firmware was also restored. In addition to repairs, they also sell new and refurbished electronic test equipment, and are now located in Menlo Park.

The unit was delivered promptly in professional packing. The service engineer Mr. Phil was very helpful for installation and computer interfacing. Equiptek has now become a reliable source of high quality test equipment at low price. Highly recommended !

I brought 2 GPUs in to get fixed -- 1 just had a loose fan, and the other had a firmware issue. Took over 2 weeks for them to get the GPU fan fixed (if it was fixed before then, they failed to contact me to let me know). On top of that, when I took the GPU out of the box, I noticed it was damaged! The tech obviously had dropped it and didn't think it was necessary to tell me! What a way to leave a bad taste in my mouth--lost my trust immediately at this point. We're already a month past when I first brought them in, and I'm STILL waiting on my other GPU! Frankly, I think I'll be going in tomorrow to get it back. I've sent multiple messages through Yelp when I've been busy at work, and they just leave me on "read" with no reply. Do NOT bring your stuff here. They will tell you that you can reach them whenever you'd like--but that definitely wasn't the case for me. You are going to have to do all the work on your end if YOU want an update from THEM. Thinking back, they never even had me sign any type of paperwork for repairs / services. Big red flag to me after seeing they damaged one of my GPUs. Will update this review more after I get my other GPU back. What a letdown..

I'm very satisfied with the overall experience. His pricing was reasonable, the repair results turned out great, and communication was always prompt and professional. I especially appreciated that he came by beforehand to inspect the damage in person and clearly explained what results to expect before starting the work. Everything looked much better after the repairs, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. I would definitely recommend him for apartment move-out repairs and paint touch-up work.

He cuts through the BS to tell you how it really is, in a professional and informative way. You won't feel like you're being sold to. Instead, you'll feel like he's that handyman uncle that knows everything about taking care of a house, and can talk you through exactly what you need. In our case, he talked himself out of a job. He assessed what we thought was potential interior damage from a 2nd floor water leak onto a 1st floor ceiling, explained what we were dealing with, gave me enough information so I could further research our situation on my own, and assured me that we didn't need the repairs we thought we needed. What kind of person talks themselves out of a job? Someone that you can trust. That's the kind of quality handyman Norman is. We'll definitely call him for any future home issues.
