Really wanted to love it! Great ambiance and service was good but unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment :( How can you mess up Italian? The Bruschetta appetizer was SUPER salty to the point where I just ended up scooping off the topping and eating the bread. It also came with wayyy too much topping Both main dishes we ordered were swimming in oil/butter. The ravioli was so disappointing. The filling was just ricotta, that's it. My husband and I came for dinner last Friday night. Our reservation was at 5:45, we arrived a bit early, but they seated us right away. The server was super friendly and came back around just enough. We ordered the pappardelle (gluten-free so it was penne) ragu and the sausage rigatoni. Both were delicious, a little spicy but not too much. We also ordered dessert, the ricotta cheesecake, and the affogato. Both outstanding! The vanilla ice cream from the affogato was creamy and not too sweet and went perfectly with the espresso. The ricotta cheesecake was the same, creamy, a little tangy, not too sweet and the apple/pear spiced compote on top was to die for. The ambiance was great too. Restaurants usually annoy me with very dim lighting and loud music, Tavolata had it just right. The music volume was at the perfect volume for background effect and the lighting was bright enough to not make me tired. As far as pricing, they're typical (unfortunately) for nowadays. Everything is expensive. So I wouldn't say they are priced abnormally high. Service, food, and ambiance were all great, and it's nice to have a gluten-free option. 5 stars all around. read more

I've been to the other 3 Tavolatas in Seattle and have always had good experiences. Food here was just as good but the service was absolutely terrible. Waited around to get seated for so long even though there were multiple open tables and so many servers were just standing around chatting with each other while we waited to be put on the waitlist. Hope this new location will learn and thing or two from its counterparts. read more

We went here for a birthday dinner for my wife, and sat inside. The restaurant is incredibly noisy and not a great place to try to talk over your meal. (Dogs are allowed on the outside patio so we may try that next time) Service was so-so and I the server admitted this was his first week - still needed to learn more about the ingredients to be able to answer questions. Food was OK, especially the appetizers we tried. Entrees were disappointing and overall was overpriced for the quality. Recommend for drinks and snacks outside, but avoid dinner here. Other options nearby are way nicer and more value for your $$$. read more

Tavolata was "just OK", while we were expecting great (from an Ethan Stowell enterprise). The service was very good. The wait wasn't long. It is a VERY noisy place, thus pretty hard to have a conversation with our group of 6. I thought the spaghetti with anchovy, garlic and chili would be a good choice, but unfortunately I was wrong. There were no actual anchovies in it, nor any hint of chili. In fact, there was really no sauce on it at all. Honestly, it tasted like someone dumped a fish oil capsule on top of it and served it. And, as others have noted in their reviews, it was too al dente. So, I wouldn't order that again. The meatballs (giant, swimming in an average tomato sauce) were good. The focaccia bread was quite good. Not sure we'll be back. read more

Went there a few times with my wife when we lived across the street. Their bagels are in no way worth it! The the bagels were undercooked chewy lacking in flavor and just all around meh at best. The last time I we went there I was served a bagel sandwich where the bagel was raw on the inside. I brought it back to the counter and asked for a new one. Their replacement one was not raw but was still under cooked. If I am served two undercooked bagels in a row after the employees are supposed to have cut them open and toasted them before making them into the sandwich I cannot expect much in the way of quality control from anything. Please save yourself your time, money, and health and go to Blazing Bagels instead. If that doesn't convince you. They are also way overpriced and even more so with the 18% service charge they recently added for everything. read more

Let's start with the garage, they only validate for 2h, that should have been a giveaway of what's in store. This is a "fast" rush people through kind of place. We were a small group and I made reservations ahead of time, so we got seated fairly quickly. We ordered cocktails and main dishes to have space for dessert and skipped starters. I'm glad we did, cause we barely finished dessert when the waitress came over and asked if we are ready to leave? We looked a bit surprised and she was like, well your 90min are coming up and the next group is already here. Oh! I didn't know we were speed eating here, glad we didn't get appetizers, otherwise, we would have to skip dessert to stay in the allowed 90min per table. We still had another round of cocktails on the table and she was pushing us over to the bar area, since she made sure it's known that the new group is already waiting. Honestly, the rudeness and pushiness is awful, so even though the food was good (albeit overpriced for the portions), I will never return again. I was so excited to have a great Italian place in town, but I rather drive to Bellevue where my favorite Italian is and our presence is welcomed and you can have a wonderful relaxed dinner. Our first couple of visits to Tavolata Redmond were fine. Unfortunately, service has gone downhill, and the manager's sarcasm when asked for simple things is completely off-putting. We enjoyed happy hour here until they implemented a 22% service fee "that the company retains" on every single check. No one seems to care about prompt, courteous service which completely negates the food quality (which is good). The past couple of times we've been in we've felt like an inconvenience with it taking 20+ minutes to even place a drink order. Food arrived before my husband received his cocktail. We were not given appetizer plates or silverware/napkins, so after the manager plopped our appetizer down in front of us without a word, I asked her for some. Her response? "No, you have to eat with your fingers." Then she plopped the stuff down and walked away. She had previously been rude to me about asking for a larger take-out box for leftovers and to a friend who inquired about garage parking. This woman doesn't care about customer service, and sadly, it's reflecting in her staff as well. Decent food but service has gotten horrible. I'd rather spend my money at other local restaurants who understand how to welcome their guests with warmth and class. read more

Food ordered by my daughter took over 30 minutes, and when my daughter ordered dessert it never came. we saw the floor manager looking at us because we had been there for over 2 hours. I don't know if this was their way of telling us that they needed the table by forgetting our order. First off, for a new restaurant we expected to give them some leeway on working out the bugs but even with a new server he was patient, attentive and had a shadow who made sure the service exceeded expectations. The food choices were eclectic and our entire party found something that pleased our pallets. So why the 1 star? It was at the end when we asked the general manager how we handle parking. She was everything that excellent customer service was not. She was condescending, told us we didn't follow the parking rules, yet it was not posted anywhere. She begrudgingly put in our license number and she personally made a great, high end experience feel like we were at a fast food joint. After a 30% tip we went back hoping she would have a better attitude when we walked back in. Alas, not at all. The bar was empty, the restaurant with only a few patrons and we called her on her attitude and suggested maybe the servers ask at the beginning of the meal. She was not open to any suggestions and we walked away even more disappointed, we were there on a Thursday, so busy, couldn't be the excuse. We will not be back at this point, since new restaurants are moving in every day, we will happily walk to one of the other ones. read more

Came for dinner but ended up ordering off the happy hour menu. Ordered a couple pasta dishes and some apps: Salumi Board: 1 star. Consisted of 5 thin slices of salami and a wafer thin piece of shaved cheese top. Avoid at all cost Focaccia: 4 star. Bread was buttery and crisp in places. A little salty but otherwise enjoyed it. Comes with a whipped tomato butter and olive oil Bruschetta: 3.5 star. ended up ordering this after the disappointing salumi. Topped off with a smoked fish and pickled onion. Tasty. Pappardelle: 4 star. Meat Ragu was hearty and rich. Pasta was a bit too al dente Spaghetti with anchovy. 3 star. Pasta was way too Al dente for my liking. Anchovy flavor was overpowering as well (I was expecting subtle). A very "fishy" pasta Lemon zeppole: 3 star . Comes with chocolate sauce and about 10 little fried dough balls. According to my Italian wife, zeppoli should be light and airy. These were kind of dense and doughy. Overall I rate the food 3.5 star. 5 star for service. Would return for happy hour but probably not for the regular menu. Afterwards take a walk around the park to burn off a few calories before driving home. read more

Coffee: not good/average, plus their drip coffee machine was not working. An expensive eatery with no functional drip coffee machine! Service: 1 out of 5 Poor. We requested our bagels to be toasted. First they made us feel like they are doing us a huge favor. Sure, it was for bakers dozen, but we were a group of 10 who wanted to eat in. They had an opportunity to make up for lack of drip coffee or the bagels by properly serve what they had in store. But no, the staff missed that opportunity. Overall, it was not the experience we were hoping for on a Saturday morning. Seem like a newer joint in Redmond and I hope they get better overtime. Poor service at a high cost. There is a 22% service charge automatically applied to your bill, but the waitstaff mostly ignore you. Even when we tried to flag someone down immediately after our food was delivered, they turned away from us and it took 10 minutes before we could get someone's attention. The food was ok, but nothing special. The menu is limited and overpriced. The seating is very awkward. There were 4 in our party, seated on a bench seat and two overstuffed chairs around a very low table. To reach food and eat, we had to lean forward and down. By the end, our backs hurt from the awkward position. The restaurant has a cool vibe - industrial and open concept. But the result is that it's almost too loud to hold a conversation with your tablemates. We really want to like this restaurant, as it's conveniently located in the core downtown Redmond area, but the inattentive service, high prices and limited menu don't seem to be getting better over time. We did the Seattle Restaurant Week menu, and the pasta entrees and desserts were phenomenal. The Salumi board appetizer was pretty weak with only five pieces of salami and three thin slivers of cheese. If you do order this though, it's totally worth getting the Torta Fritta, as they were amazing! With that being said, others at our table had other appetizers that were super tasty (Tavolata salad and the Burrata), so I'd just avoid the Salumi board when we return. The only real complaints we had were that the restaurant was really brightly lit and that our table was along the wall with the garage doors and entry/exit doors. There are something like 10 doors along that full wall and they all open and close as people go in and out, so it got really cold at our table. After a few glasses of wine (try the Bumpasaurus, we were all fans!) it was easier to ignore, but we still all had to wear coats while we ate. Overall, it was a wonderful evening, and we enjoyed the restaurant. We'll definitely be back, but try for a different table location. read more
